In addition, the Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide can be obtained from Selina Dourman, who resides in the first tent on your left as you enter the Darkmoon Faire ground on Darkmoon Island.

The Darkmoon Faire Field Guide

We call ‘em Darkmoon Artifacts, and there’s all different kinds to be found all over Azeroth. The Darkmoon Field Guide helps you discover artifacts while you’re explorin’ dungeons, slayin’ monsters, and fightin’ in Battlegrounds. Without a guide, you’d never notice ‘em, and it’ll help keep you focused on the stuff we want. Whether you just reached level 10, or you’ve crushed the biggest baddies in the land, we need somethin’ from nearly everybody. You won’t have to go too far out of your way to get ‘em and each month you’ll get a new opportunity to seek out an Artifact for us. What do you get out of the deal? Don’t you worry, you’ll get your cut. When you bring a Darkmoon Artifact back to us, you’ll get valuable experience (it builds character, you know!), earn a better reputation, and possibly earn precious Darkmoon Faire Prize Tickets too!

When you first get to the faire grounds on the new island talk with Selina Dourman and ask her about the Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide. She's give you a Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide which will allow you to find the required items for the achievements.

Please keep in mind that the quests are not repeatable during one DMF festival. After you complete the quest you cannot get it for the second time, as it states when you use an item for the second time "You have already completed this quest". In other words - you can do the quest once every month.
Now, to all the naysayers, Blizzard has confirmed that these quests are to be repeated each month. Source
They have also stated that the quest drops that happen in the dungeons/raids/BG’s happen all the time, even if the faire isn’t in town. Source

You randomly get these in dungeons and PvP or just buy them from AH.
Just be sure to have your Darkmoon Adventurer's Guide in your bags when doing dungeons and or PvP.

Edit: If there is any other source where to get them let me know before downrating me, ty.

Can you find artifacts only during DMF or during other times as well?

As you might have figured out, Soothsayer's Runes isn't amongst Darkmoon Dungeoneer or Darkmoon Defender. It drops from raidbosses.

Also, everyone in the raid with the book gets it, not just one:)

Despite the wording, it would appear they have to be handed in all within the same Darkmoon Faire visit for the achievement to complete. The second Faire has reset my achievement - all bar Adventurer's Journal and Captured Insignia, which also happen to have not reset as a handin, saying I've already completed them.

Blizz in the last few weeks have changed it so only appropriate level mobs will drop the items now.

No running low level dungeons as an 85 anymore.

This should definately drive up the value of these drops.

Blizzard has confirmed that there is a glitch of which they are aware.

In December I turned in the three items and got the achievement Darkmoon Defender. I also got an Imbued Crystal and completed the quest A Curious Crystal. However, as of January 1, 2012 this achievement shows that I have not turned in either. Similarly, I am lacking A Curious Crystal for Darkmoon Dungeoneer. I put in a ticket concerning this issue and received an in-game mail stating that Blizzard was aware of the problem. It is not yet corrected however.

Can anyone confirm whether or not running a low level through a dungeon where an item can drop will still allow it to? Like taking a lvl 40 through Strat will cause the items to drop if he has the DM Adventurer's Guide?

If im right, this achievement will reset after every darkmoon fair event? Cause ive turned alot of them in and when i checked the achievement again the turn-ins are colored grey instead of green. Can someone confirm this?

You are correct, you need to turn in all artifacts in one(1) month's DmF(Darkmoon Faire), if not, when the next faire comes, it resets your count. I think like the rest of us, I only needed A Treatise on Strategy and found out it reset.

Small macro to just spam out all the items needed for this achievment, I use it together with my bag addon for finding the items in mail or on alts when the DMF comes to town again. Good luck :)

From now on this or any other Darkmoon Faire achievments in progress won't reset after one Darkmoon Faire is finished.
Blues post:

"January’s Darkmoon Faire achievement progress status was cleared prior to the launch of February's faire. Any achievements that were started but not completed have had their criteria reset. Completed achievements are unaffected.

However, any future achievement progress (February included) will be saved to your character and will continue to contribute towards progression of those achievements in subsequent visits to Darkmoon Faire.

Regrettably, we are not able to restore any progress you may have made during January's faire. We do appreciate the impact this may have had and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Updated for mop and it looks like there are no drops in . According to the wowhead, A Treatise on Strategy drops in heroic mode, and the other items drop in normal modes off the respective boss. I.e.: Ornate Weapon drops in normal and not heroic.

I've compiled a easy to see table of where each item for Darkmoon Dungeoneer can be found to get the most bang for your regular/heroic dungeon queues since Blizzard "fixed" the drops so that Darkmoon Faire monthly quest items can only be looted in level appropriate dungeons. I'm keeping the level 80 and 85 data for people who have not upgraded from the Battlechest and Cata to MoP.

Notes:
This is ordered in alphabetical order, with the instances that drops the most items for DMF items towards the top.
If you find that a boss drops something not listed here. Leave a reply and I'll add it in, eventually.

Soothsayer's Runes drops from the first bosses in every raid at level.

Fallen Adventurer's Journal, Banner of the Fallen and Captured Insignia can be looted only while in a battleground.

Hey guys, I see a couple of people saying they have some problems doing this. Please keep in mind that the Mysterious Grimoire starts the quest , and the Monstrous Egg starts the quest , and those are NOT handed in at the same NPC as the other 7 quests for this achievement. I did spend some time on figuring that one out :o The Egg-quest is handed in at Yebb Neblegear, who is by the "zoo" part of the Faire, while the Grimoire one is handed in to Sayge, the Gnoll Fortune Teller in a separate tent just north of Yebb. The other 7 quests are all handed in at the same NPC, namely Professor Thaddeus Paleo.

If you're going for the achievement, make sure you have all nine artifacts to turn in for the week because if you miss one, next time darkmoon faire comes the achievement resets.

Yup, I was told they'd fixed having this achieve wiped out along with the others, and mine totally reset again. At the same time these Darkmoon achieves glitched, all of my Fish and Cut Bait and Let's Do Lunch achieves were *also* totally wiped out. Blizzard: too bad. >.<

I believe the status of this achievement is now carried over from one month to the next. I still have four artifacts highlighted from the previous month's faire.

Here is a macro to show which items you haven't turned in this month. If any lines show up as "nil" just run the macro again to get the item link.
