Moldy Tome (27,72):
Multiple locations but the above is where I found mine, well, around there.
Not hard at all, send in the void to aggro all of them, quickly swim/run over to the book, grab it, use sacrifice and run away. If you die, rez at tarren mill, and deal with sickness ;D
Don't try and pull one at a time, it'll just piss off the other ones.

Tattered Manuscript:
As soon as you enter the cave, it's left, right, left, or right.
I found mine in the second left.

--Tattered Manuscript--
You may want to start with this one since its a little closer to where you pick the quest up. The manuscript is being held smack dab in the middle of a murloc camp. The manuscript looks like a little nondescript book just laying in the sand among the other debris of the camp. The manuscript spawns at a random camp so no definite coordinates can be given but the camps are located southwest of the human town of Southshore and start at 46, 68. There are quite a few murlocs so you might want to get some friends to help you slaughter the murlocs and grab the manuscript but this quest is soloable. One tactic that Ive had luck with is running out to the hilly area behind each murloc camp and using the Eye of Kilrogg to scout out the camp. Once Ive located the manuscript, Ill clear the area of any murlocs leading up to the camp, send in the Voidwalker to gather aggro, grab the manuscript then run away, sacrificing the VW if neccesary. This technique can also be used on the ocean side of the camps if you prefer however your escape will be hindered by murlocs and the fact that you will be swimming rather than running.

--Moldy Tome--
The Moldy Tome is located within the cave Splinterhoof Hold located in Thousand Needles coordinates 44, 37. After entering the cave, branch right as soon as you're able. Follow this path past the waterfall until you see a small chest labeled "Damaged Chest". This contains the tome which you seek. The centaurs in the cave are slightly stronger than the ones outside. Centaurs flee when their health is low so keep Curse of Recklessness handy; you don't want a centaur running off and aggroing the whole cave. Also, be wary of the Lightning Cloud that the Stormers cast.

I found the Moldy Tome at (27,72), but it might be random since there are little groups of huts all along the shore in Hillsbrad.

The Tattered Manuscript was in the cave at Splithoof crag. I took a right at the fork, and once I got to the waterfall, I crossed it and took a left into a smaller room and the chest was there. There was only a level 28 Galak nearby so getting it was relatively easy.

this was a looong quest but worth it. if you do things right you can fight 3 to 4 murlocs at a time for the part of the quest in hillsbrad. there are usually 6 to 8 murlocs at each set of huts. keep your head, and you'll get it taken care of.
the part in thousand needles was a cake walk compared to hillsbrad, like they say loop around to the right. the centaurs are easy to deal with

Here's how i got the tome at the Hillsbrad:

Location : 27,72

1. Find a good spot to enter the water and swim untill you are near the spot.

2. Use a soulstone and summon Voidwalker.

3. Kill all the mobs near the tome that are alone. ONLY the ones that are alone...this should be easy, the tough part is to kill the mobs that are close to each other. Search also underwater.

4. Now you should have 4-5 mobs at the hut, near the tome. While you are in the water, send voidwalker to attack them. Be sure that every mob is attacking him, if needed tell him to attack the ones that are not attacking him.
EDIT: You can do the same thing approaching from the land... Just be sure everybody is attacking Voidwalker!

5. Go out and get the tome, then RUN LIKE HELL!!! If there is a mob attacking you, don't panic, cast Fear on him and continue. If you followed my advice to kill all the mobs that are alone, there shouldn't be a problem.

30 Affliction warlock on PvP server, used Void and pulled 2 of them individually. They're actually pushovers, and I ended up pulling the rest all at once to finish faster. (I only had a group of 4 when I arrived.)

Of the two, the Tattered Manuscript would be harder to obtain because it's easy to miss.

Its not scary. I did have to sac my VW, but thats because I fled and pulled an extra onto myself. There were only three at the huts which had the book when I went. Probably more danger from starting your search path too close to southshore. XD

if you're careful with your pulls, you wont need to sacrifice or take any damage at all.
i just got the tome quite easily.

just watch the movements of the murlocs, and take your time over it. easy peasy.

also helps to turn off Suffering, then your VW doesn't taunt any of the others.

Getting the Moldy Tome was very easy, use eye of (your realm maybe kilrogg) and then look for the book in the groups of murlocs, i only had to pull 2 and got it.. the scroll was a little more annoying but still easy.. wait untill 35 unless u realy want 1 b4 (I find it pointless sooner)

Considering you're at least level 30 for this quest and thus should have siphon life by now (assuming you went affliction as you should for leveling), there's no reason you should have any difficulty with the mobs at either location. The murlocs are a little tougher but you should still be able to drain tank them pretty easily with your imp out as long as you have decent gear. The centaurs are even easier as they're in the mid 20s and you should easily be able to clear any in your way without having to use your VW. It's much faster drain tanking with your imp than using the lame old VW.

as a lvl30, only quest and drop geared warlock, murlocks were easy to solo with a vw...

I found this to be a very easy but long quest.

For the Hilsbrad section I pulled 1 Murloc at a time with my Curse of Agony (Instant cast when the mob is far enough away from the others, just wait for it to patrol) and cleared out the camps easily. After searching 3 camps and using Eye of Kilrogg twice I finally found it in the middle of one of the western camps. I then killed the Rare Murloc that was wandering about, and then on my way to the mines for another quest, ran into the rare spider too! Good drops for me there.

The Thousand Needles bit was too easy. Any warlock should have absolutely no trouble at all here.

And to all those who drag a 70 round with you to get all your quests done without any effort, go play Hello Kitty: Island Adventure, losers.

The book in south shore: I found it about 5 camps down from SS.
However, it is easy to find. It is a navy blue (dull) but it will sparkle- so don't think ( as I did) that it might be brown and blend in with the wood boxes or items. For me it was on the ocean side, (of course, lol) and for that reason I had to get closer to each camp.
I spent a lot of time examining all the wood items because I was concerned that I might miss it.
It does sparkle. I knew I found it soon as I saw it.
However, it's still a pain to have the murlocks to contend with.
If a warlock,shaman or hunter, far sight,eye of killrog-etc,. all of those items do help.

This part of the chain takes roughly 10min to complete, taking you spent your HS wisely, and can easily be done at 30.

The followup takes about 10min (god bless mounts @ 30).

Moldy Tome is in Hillsbrad Foothills in one of the murloc camps between 48,64 and 24,65, the shore running west from Southshore.

Tattered Manuscript is in Thousand Needles, in Splithoof Hold, entrance at 44,36, chest in cave at exactly 43.5,32.7. Pretty much enter cave and make all right hand turns.

Both items glitter as you would expect.

Update:Recent patches have changed warlocks, so the quest mechanics change slightly. While eye of Kilrogg is no longer available at level 30, the book will be marked on the zone map from the ingame qhelper-esque functions.

I was able to solo the murlocs at lvl 30-31 affliction spec. You either wall-hug or clear a path to the camp. There will be three murlocs in each set of huts. Take out the wandering mob to the left via pull, then go to the water and take out the swimming add (remember not to pull when they're near other mobs). Approach the huts from the left with void on defensive. Tell him to attack and when he is close enough to aggro the closest murloc switch him to passive, pulling only two of the three murlocs in the huts. Then finish the job as you would normally when facing two mobs w/o using fear. The last one should be easy.

The Tattered Manuscript is easy enough to find as long as you dont get confused w/ qhelper telling you its inside the wall when its in the cave. The centaur are so easily soloable, so much so i fought them unarmed toward the achievement

Just though I would add in my two cents. My warlock has 110 SP with full heirloom gear. If you have the full set and are specced Afflication I would suggest just blindly running about casting corruption on everything. I cleared out the whole cave in about 2 minutes and never even came close to dying. Same goes for the murlocs. So.. Much.. Win...

[Ah! I see that you are a warlock of similar tastes to mine. Indeed, acquiring the Tome of the Cabal is a worthy aspiration. Did you know that it was once held within the walls of Lordaeron? It was vandalized though, almost half its pages removed. Who would commit such a heinous act?

That half is lost, though rumor says that it fell into the hands of the centaur of the Thousand Needles.

The rest of the text was to be transferred to Ironforge, but was lost in transit on the coast west of Southshore.]
