The Manuscript is in the Damaged Chest (not dropped by). To access this, you need to go into the cave. The cave mouth can be seen in the map of the Damaged Chest, to the southeast of where the chest is located (the chest is basically inside the mountain)

to clarify, turn right and follow the loop and you'll find the chest.
Its a little brown box rather than a tresure chest looking one.

Somebody can explain step to step where is the tattered manuscript? After I've entered the cave I must go left or right? Please help.

Go down the great lift follow the edge of the mountain east or you can go north from the freewind post and you'll run into the cave its not hard to find. Once you get into the cave follow the wall to the right and then go across the water fall and you'll run right into the chest. Of course you have to fight your way there. After you grab the thing all the mobs are spawned again so just black bubble and run you'll make it out. I suggest running to the left after you exit the cave less mobs that way and you can get to a spot that doesn't have mobs and you can mount and make it to the road just fine. Solo completed at lvl 32 but I think you could likely do it at a lower lvl.

I've walked around there for 45min... I know where the spot is, confirmed with coords, but... that thing just isn't showing up.

EDIT - This still valid? I saw that the quest was marked obsolete, but, I finished an obsolete quest yesterday so sceptical about which quests can/can't be completed and don't want to toss this one out.

EDIT - There is a small small cave at those coordinates, as well, if you walk around and up, there is a passageway above the cave where the item can be found. The talk of 'a little area' made me believe it was indeed the small area/cave... but no it's a rather average sized tunnel.

This is in the CENTAUR cave. It is NOT in the HARPY cave. Do NOT go into the harpy cave. Nothing awaits you there but pain and death.
