Is anyone able to confirm whether it drops if Shadowlands enchanting is below 100?

So I've killed Sorranos about 20 times, no drop. I start to do some research. It turns out you need to complete Cos'è quest'affare? from the item Essenza Informe. This item will only drop if you have a profession in which you can use item enhancements from ZM on, according to several comments. This doesn't include enchanting it seems, because Shadowlands Enchanting is only capable of crafting one piece of equipment, a green quality wand, that cannot be upgraded with rare enhancements. I've been around Zereth Mortis a lot, and never gotten Essenza Informe to drop, despite killing many mobs. So is SL Enchanting not capable of getting that quest to drop? And if so, then how does an Enchanter loot this recipe, since they cannot do the quest that unlocks the recipe drops?

Obviously, people who have two crafting professions, such as Enchanting and Tailoring/BSing/LWing/Eng will be able to get this recipe, but since my second profession is fully ranked and leveled up mining that I am hard-pressed to unlearn, I'm stuck.

Am I misunderstanding the lock on these recipes? I've farmed and farmed for the unformed essence quest drop to no avail.

Edit: After testing pretty much everything possible I could think of and doing every single quest in Zereth Mortis, I just want to verify for anyone trying to collect this as an Enchanter -- Unformed Essence does not drop if you have Enchanting and a gathering profession, which means the Formula: Cosmic Protoweave will never drop for you. I finally broke down and dropped fully leveled Mining to test this. I learned level 1 Shadowlands Engineering and got the Unformed Essence from the very first kill. I'm sure this is an oversight by Blizzard, and it will likely never be fixed because it is a very niche problem that only exists for pattern collectors.

Second edit: After turning in Unformed Essence, I finally found Sorranos up today (3/22 - NA realms). He dropped the formula on the first kill. I'm still INCENSED I had to drop my gathering profession to even get this recipe to drop, but if it saves anyone the trouble, I guess it's worth it. By the time I had figured out the information about the Unformed Essence, I was up to 40+ kills on Sorranos with no formula, so I know it's necessary, and I know it won't drop with enchanting/gathering. Good luck to the pattern collectors out there.

Final edit: As of 10.1.7 enchanters will be able to collect this recipe without having completed the pre-requisite quest. I'm sad I dropped mining to figure this all out, but I guess, in the end, this probably helped to create bug reports that led to it being fixed for future players.

Formula: Cosmic Protoweave from Zereth Mortis no longer requires the quest “What Is This Thing?” to be eligible for it to drop.
