Most likely it will probably be something only the tailor can loot. Like if the body would have had cloth normally, it would show up in a separate slot in the loot window, denoting that only the tailor can loot it, a la quest items.

the extra cloth does drop specifically for the tailor who has the skill but off any corpse the same way a quest item would - so a non-tailor would loot everything off a corpse that was theirs (including cloth that drops normally) and the tailor would be able to occasionally loot "bonus" cloth off the same corpse that other people don't see (it's in addition to the normal drop table for the mob).

as for the book, i dunno about that... either it was removed or i've never seen one drop because i paid 5g or so to the tailoring trainer when i was training new skills (before ever venturing out into northrend).

This item was removed from the game. The skill is taught by the Northrend Tailoring trainers for the price of 5g.

I got this skill or what you call it from the tailor trainer in Valgarde. It shows in the spellbook, I did not recieve any items.

I can now occasionally loot extra Frostweave Cloth from mobs that's been killed by anyone in my group.

Going Utgarde Keep earlier there was a priest, also tailor. The extra cloth loot showed for the both of us, first come first serve.

It teaches the same skill as the one aquired from the trainer, so it is most unlikely that they stack.

I guess this book won't drop for you anymore once you've learned Northern Cloth Scavenging from the tailoring trainer (as with the heavy frostweave bandage: won't drop once you've learned it).

Its only purpose might be saving you the 5g usually spent on the trainer.

I can confirm that this still drops ingame. Picked one up in the Basin a couple days ago.

The drop rate is extremely low, I didn't even know it existed at all until it dropped.

Don't bother farming to wait for it to drop. It is basically a "World drop" for Northrend only.

Just spend the 5g. It can very easily pay for itself, whether you decide to auction your cloth or use it towards the insane amounts of cloth you need to level your tailoring up.

I just got this on my warlock which is still level 56. I'm curious to see if this happens to apply to outland and looting extra netherweave cloth as well. Though since its a Northrend skill probably not.

Got one yesterday on my mage, it dropped off of a Frostbrood Whelp ( Draghetto della Progenie del Gelo )
I haven't used it yet. Does anyone know what level of Tailoring you need to learn this ability? There were rumors that Tailoring trainers could teach you this, so you don't have to waste the book. I myself would like to sell this and try to make some extra gold, then learn it from a trainer later on if that's possible.

This is no longer taught by any trainers. I put in a ticket and the response I got from a GM said "This is actually learned from a world drop in the Northrend area. You should still be able to get it from the world drop. Sorry for the confusion this may have caused."

I have looted one of this as a level 345 tailoring warlock by a Crown Technician.
However I noticed that this book is not listed to this NPCs drops, neither the NPC is listed at the droppers of this item =)

I had killed and looted over 250 Monstrous Wights without finding the guide. so I opened a ticket and the gam master replied and said tat it is infct still a random drop from the wights.

I then returned and I have killed at least an additional 250 or 300 and still no guide. (BTW there was no competition or interferance visible when I was farming). If it is a random drop the stats posted at 2% drop rate are way off.

The spell is shown in My proffessions as a sb prof of tayloring (just as disenchanting is under enchanting) but is shaded and the icon cannot be placed on an action bar

It would have been great to know that this has to be learned from a DROP, instead of from trainers like it used to be... At least *I* never got it from a trainer in northrend.

lvl70-80 without having this learned, makes me a fair bit angry...

was told to go to any Grand Master Tailor so i went to the one in Dalaran.
The Tailor trainer is named <Charles Worth>, inside the Talismanic Textiles building in
the Magus Commerce Exchange quarter (36,33).

To complete the quest you have to give him 5g. After you learn it, it will
appear in your professions tab.

Didn't even know it existed until I killed a random Valhalas Vargul on my way to farm for Frostweave. Very glad it dropped. I wouldn't try to get the drop though, definitely go to trainer in Dalaran.

You can gain the effects of this tome (Ricerca di Tessuti) by completing a quest for the Grand Master tailoring trainers in Northrend. This quest costs you 5g to complete and saves you the effort of grinding this low-drop tome. To acquire this quest you need a tailoring skill of 325 or more.

As of December 27, 5:30 a.m, I have seen this book drop from The Nexus (Non-heroic) in the hallway of Frozen horde Mobs. It was picked up by a Rogue so I suspect it was pick pocketed, but I can not, in good faith, guarantee it.

For those of you mentioning the "I learned it from a Tailor Trainer already" this is also true. However, the one you learn from him/her is for extra cloth from mobs around Northrend, whereas the book allows it from Humanoids. These two are not the same thing because my Priest, Quincy, has the Trainer version, but I have an addon that tells me he could learn this. Tailoring only, but still lootable.

As of today (2014-08-15) I went to Valliance Keep (took the boat from Stormwind) and I went to Darin Goodstitch at 57, 72. He offered me a quest called Cloth Scavenging which only required 5 gold.

Turned it in and got the spell on my professions tab.

To those saying this quest is unaviable, you must have gone to the wrong guy or perhaps you've allready done the quest.

I got this super rare item from Drakkari Water Binder in Zul'Drak, by Drak'Sotra Fields. I was just there for the battle bats really, so it was a very nice to see for once I was super lucky.

As of 6.2.3, Guida alla Ricerca di Tessuti Nordici is still a world drop in Northrend instances and zones. It will drop if your toon has 325 or greater Sartoria skill AND has not done any of the several quests in Borean Tundra, Howling Fjord, or Dalaran that reward Guida alla Ricerca di Tessuti Nordici. The resulting skill, Ricerca di Tessuti, has an impact on looting in WotLK instances and zone (req. 325 or greater Tailoring skill), Cata instances and zones (req. 400 or greater Tailoring skill) and in MoP instances and zones (req. uncertain, but, if it follows the pattern, likely 475 or greater Tailoring skill). I personally have seen no evidence of Ricerca di Tessuti working in Draenor instances or zones even at max. Tailoring (700).

It's safe to say this book is no longer required as of the BfA expansion. Just go to Charles Worth in Dalaran, train Tailoring, then grab his quest and turn it in.

If you are a Nightborne this is the only way you can learn Cloth Scavenging. No NPC gives you the quest. I got mine from the scourge in the fallen necropolis in Borean Tundra.

Not sure why but on my mage who has had Tailoring for a long time including from WotLK I keep getting duplicates of this book dropping all the time even though the skill is learnt (confirmed at NPC etc.)

Doing the Argent Tournament dailies, including Heroic Trial of the Champion for the three extra seals per day, I end up with multiple drops in that dungeon. Also often from killing NPCs for the quests.

Having to delete these blue items requires confirmation each time as they can't be vendored which is tiresome.

I made a macro that will delete any copies in your inventory to save time on this tedious task each time I am there. Only use if you want to delete copy/ies of this book in your inventory!:
