Fished up 2 Copper Coin of the Isles in 10min of fishing with 100+34 (fishing gear and lures) at the fishing hole when it was rich. Given other reports, it would take about 75 min to obtain 15 Copper Coin of the Isles for a Silver Coin of the Isles, which you can buy from Swog, and possibly loot a cooking recipe from the Weighted Sac of Swog.

These are currency for the things you can buy at this weird merchant Il Grande Drospo. Rumour has it that the best thing to buy with it is the Moneta d'Oro delle Isole, which will allow you to buy the Sacca Incontaminata di Tesori di Drospo and give you a shot at getting one of the many goodies in it. Good luck and good fishing.

If you are a mount hunter, you will want to get a lot of these, so you an buy the Sacca Incontaminata di Tesori di Drospo as it is the only source of the Occhiali da Sole Acquatici needed to start the hunt for this adorable mount Otto. Allegedly the best way to get the coins to buy it from Il Grande Drospo is to get your Tuskarr rep high enough to get the Arpione di Iskaara (Renown Rank 7) and then start "fishing" for lunkers at a Large Lunker Sighting, an object placed in the Tuskarr Fishing Holes, which you get access to earlier in the Tuskarr Renown grind. When you are there, use five Conchiglia Inquietante if you have them or just start fishing until you catch one and throw it out and see what happens. The best way is to try finding a group in LFG searching for "lunker - you can read more about this at the Conchiglia Inquietante comments page.

When the lunker fishing is going on, drag the harpoon item to your action bar and just keep pressing it every 4 seconds - when you have your harpoon stuck in a fish (or whatever!) - which gives you an extra action button - using the harpoon again will also very conveniently use the extra action button. Very easy and very addictive!

I was fishing for Re Pinna, il Saggio Pescebaffo and managed to fish up some silver coins, 2 infact (in one cast), will add screenshot to prove.
Got my copper and silver coins at 56.09, 44.52.

Also confirming, Re Pinna, il Saggio Pescebaffo can be found at the same location mentioned above.

5 Silver Coins are needed to purchase Moneta d'Oro delle Isole from Il Grande Drospo, which is used to purchase Sacca Incontaminata di Tesori di Drospo and have a chance to find Occhiali da Sole Acquatici to begin the process to get Otto. Step by step instructions:
First you need to get a Moneta d'Oro delle Isole from fishing or Lunker Threshers. But this is a very rare drop.
Alternatively, you can collect 75 Moneta di Rame delle Isole, or 5 Moneta d'Argento delle Isole.
1 Moneta d'Argento delle Isole costs 15 Moneta di Rame delle Isole. Use these to purchase the Moneta d'Oro delle Isole from Il Grande Drospo. You can find him in a cave in Ohn'ahran Plains - coordinates 82,73.

Use the Moneta d'Oro delle Isole to purchase the Sacca Incontaminata di Tesori di Drospo from Il Grande Drospo. The sac has a change to contain Occhiali da Sole Acquatici but it is not a 100% drop.

Use the Occhiali da Sole Acquatici and go to the Waking Shores, coordinates 19,36. There is an underwater area and an NPC named Kajiki who comments on your shades, which means that you have done everything correctly so far. Head over to the dancefloor nearby and /dance for 5 minutes. While dancing you should have a debuff Balla, Balla fino alla Morte. Make sure you are wearing the glasses before you go to the dancefloor. Once the 5 minutes are up you are automatically teleported out of the water. You will see an in front of you. Pick it up, and it’s time to catch some fish!

You need to catch the following:

100 Pesce dei Ghiacci Gelido from the Iskaara area in the Azure Span. You can fish anywhere in the open waters. Be sure to have your shades on or you won’t catch any fish! When you catch 100 frigid floe fish, click on the barrel to change it to a Barile di Pesce Mezzo Pieno. If you skip this step you will not be able to catch the second batch of fish.
25 Carpa Funesta from the lava rivers east of the Obsidian Citadel in the Waking Shores. Same as before, once you have all 25 fish, click on the barrel to change it to a Barile di Pesce Vibrante.
1 Re Pinna, il Saggio Pescebaffo from the waters close to Algeth'ar Academy - coordinates 56,44. The best place to fish for Kingfin is on the platform next to 2 fishing Dracthyr. Remember to have your shades on or you’ll be fishing for nothing. Once you get Kingfin, click on the barrel to have an Barile di Pesce Traboccante.

Return to the waking shores to the Hissing Grotto where you picked up the barrel and place your new overflowing fish barrel on the ground - coordinates 20,39. Otto will then appear giving you the quest Ottonere un po' di affetto, and gratz! You’ve got yourself the Otto mount.

A tip while trying to catch this fish, and even the others before: use the Galleggiante Eccessivo while fishing, because catching 100 fish while using an oversized bobber will get you the Peschissimevolissimevolmente achievement, giving you the Galleggiante Eccessivo Riutilizzabile!

Respawn for the box that summons Sir Pinchalot is between 5 to 10 minutes.

I bought 100 Elusive Croaking Crab from the AH to farm him (22g each on Illidan).

I got 1 - 2 Copper Coin of the Isles each kill.

Fishing while I waited did reward me with more Copper Coin of the Isles but its a low drop rate.

After 20 kills (about 2.5 hours) I looted:
1 Gold Coin of the Isles
1 Silver Coin of the Isles
23 Copper Coin of the Isles

2 Fishing Copper Coin of the Isles
2 Fishing Elusive Croaking Crab
