Sounds like this might be for inscription. I am a leatherworker/skinner. Clicked the glyph > went sepia mode > go to other end of bridge > kill lil boss > get Key .... and that seems to be all I can do with it.

It's for Inscription proffesion.
Click the Glifo Curioso (book) to get the buff Creazione Connessioni.
Leave the building and go to the other side of the bridge. At the end you will find Confusione Manifesta. Kill it and loot Chiave di Decodifica.
Go back to the Glifo Curioso (book) and click it again to loot Tomo dell'Apprendista Smemorato.

On my lowbie alt I beat the guy but then died to elementals outside (I had flown over them on the way in, but they aggro'd me as I tried to mount again right outside the door) and I lost the sepia buff. Went back to the Curious Rune and then activated the book again to go redo the fight, but then saw I shouldn't have to go fight him because I still had the Decryption Key in my inventory. (I was in sepia world at this point though.)

I clicked the book again and it brought me back to the normal world, but no Tome. Clicking the book one more time, it went sepia again and the Tome was put into my inventory. Then I just had to click off the buff to go back to normal phase.
