I've been getting piece of scrap from using Recipiente di Combustione delle Creature (i would say more than 50% od the time)
tried with 10x EZ throw variant Recipiente di Combustione delle Creature Maneggevole, not a single piece of scrap

not sure if you need to use the regular bombs to get scrap, will test out with moze EZ variants

UPDATE: tested out 50 of the EZ Throw variants, not a single piece of scrap
I've come to the conclusion that only regular bombs have a change to grant scrap

I found a good way to farm those now that it 100% drop from using the invis tinker item, start an LFR first wing of eternal palace use the invis tinker , pull the boss and reset him, press the invis tinker again. It just gonna keep reseting the cd of it.

EDIT : as some people mentioned carapace of N'zoth in LFR is prob an even better option

EDIT: As of 10.1.5, it appears that the drop rate of the toys has been increased to 10%.

We should all consider writing a suggestion to Blizzard to do something about the 4 toys you can get with"rummage though scrap".
Either increase the abysmall dropchance to get any of these toys, or increase the amount of piece of scrap you can get so you can rummage more often. Anything to make the process less a pain would be highly appreciated. It can be rare, yes, but not THAT rare, and certainly not THAT rare for 4 toys. It might take weeks of doing nothing else than LFR boss resetting to get all 4. I've been rummaging 236 times now (with 40/40 of the Scrapper skill of course) and got 0/4 toys. This it not fun gameplay and very frustating. I wrote to Blizz about that, the more ppl do so the better chances we have they'll do something about it. Expectation is low of course.

Blizz really need to make some changes to how rummage works, farming these toys must be the most boring and slow thing you can do in the game. It's just not entertaining at all, I would prefer to farm mobs for hundreds of hours than doing this. Staying in the same spot for hours just resetting a boss and using an item it's something only a bot would do. When a game forces you to behave like a bot to get anything you know the design is a total failure.

As Bayur said we should make some suggestions to blizz, even if the chances they actually change something are slim. Atleast they changed the soul inhaler when it wasn't that awful compared to rummage, so there is hope they make something.

If your Tinker item fails and puts it on the 5min CD. Pull boss and Shadowmeld, Vanish or Feign Death. It'll reset the CD on the Tinker again.

This is really strange. I tried the "reset raid boss" in Eternal Palace trick. Managed to get some toys which is great! Unfortunately I got the exact same toy 4 times in a row and no other toys. I'm beginning to suspect this is kind of on a weekly rotation?

Edit: Got my 5th one. Going to try and do this after the weekly reset
Edit 2: Just my RNG it seems. 8 Defective Doomsday Devices and 1 of each of the other toys

Here is a macro that I use on Carapace of N'zoth that:

Counts your Pieces of Scrap in chat
Alerts you via sound when you get close to 25 pieces
Uses your tinker
Casts at your target.
Sets a timer for 31 seconds for the next kill

I recommend Viscidus in aq40, it resets faster than fury of nzoth. invis, tag, run out, repeat. boss can't die either.

Has something changed about the Fury of N'zoth boss? He no longer insta-resets when not wearing the cloak.

Do not do the Nazjatar and Black Empire quest chains for this! The to-go farm, Carapace of N'Zoth, no longer resets without the legendary cloak equipped. Frustratingly, I wasted a good hour to get the cloak to queue for N'Zoth, only for it not working. I guess Blizzard made the legendary apply by default so you can keep your current cloak equipped. Abyssal Commander Sivara is now probably the fastest, resetting in about three seconds on pull. ~~Make sure to bring tinkers in both the head and wrist slot (they share a cd so this doesn't work)~~ You'll rack them up fast enough anyway (in hindsight, the quest chains weren't worth the time gain anyway).
