Ok gamers, it took me all afternoon, but I figured out how to do this for blacksmithing. First, have an engineer make you a Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler. Then, buy yourself some Empty Soul Cages from a jewel crafter. Now that you have these two items, head to 46.35, 37.26 in Waking Shores. If you're a DOT class, you can probably do this solo, otherwise bring a buddy to help you out because you need to channel the Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler on one of the Earthshatter Elemental elites while it dies. You must be channeling the elite during its death to get the Caged Earthen Soul item. It is very important that you wait 15 minutes after you capture the earthen soul before opening it. Otherwise you will have to wait another 15 minutes to try again. If you open the cage before the 15 minutes is up, you will only get awakened essences of the elemental type.

6. After 15minutes it changes to Anima Terrigena Docile, which can be looted to get 1x Anima Terrigena

In order to capture a soul with Gabbia dell'Anima Vuota (crafted by Oreficeria), the elemental must die while casting Inalatore d'Anima Ultraccelerato (crafted by Ingegneria). The best method is to use dots, as well as stuns to prevent any abilities that may interrupt the cast. Once you receive the soul. do not open the item until the "Encaged" turns into "Docile", which will happen once the 15-minute timer expires. Docile souls may contain pets, but the majority of the time it will contain the elemental crafting reagent,

DO NOT OPEN ENCAGED SOUL BEFORE 15 MINUTES ARE UP, OR YOU WILL GET JUST ESSENCE
For me, a good spot was Waking Shore 52 33 as there are Elite Earthshatter Elementals with ~560k HP.
Remember to DOT them and start casting when they have ~10k. It get's interupted when they slam you with the spike.

Not really a helpful comment but this is probably one of the worst setups for getting a crafting material that I've seen. There's no reason for it to be this tedious to get it. At least make the stupid device do some small amount of damage to help finish it off. With it having a 15 minute cooldown and only working on 4 different mobs there's no real room for abuse in giving this item the ability to actually kill the damn elementals for you after you've brought them down to like 5%.

Is there really no better elite earth elemental that will not interrupt your cast every 15 seconds? It is VERY hard to get this when you are interrupted and then it is put on a cd.

Is this type of thing actually fun for anyone? Like, i get that there's a grind. Been on that grind for over 15 years... been playing Warcraft as a franchise even longer before WOW.

The axe I wanted to make is ugly anyway. gg Blizz. Professions outside of gathering now make me want to chew on sand paper..

This is a joke Blizz really. First you make professions more interesting and a second after... impossible to do... Seriously? Aquiring crafting reagents this way? Thats your idea of "fun"? I have only one thing to say.... Go to hell!

Lots of folks complaining of that 'weird' system. It just reminded me of playing my warlock and collecting soul shard on every mobs possible :D

It's actually easy to farm with a Warlock for once :D

Best places to do these are during the elemental invasions. I managed to get both an earth & a frost done while doing the Fire invasion in Thaldraszus on my Prot Paladin. Too bad the item you get is soulbound - I don't think it should be after having to acquire the tools to get these.

The only possible way I see to do this solo is if you have a bleed or a dot. Channel while your bleed or dot kills the elemental, so have to be pretty close to dead before starting channeling.

If you have no bleed or dot, like a paladin, you're screwed and can't solo.

You do not have to be an Engineer to get this. I got one as a Blacksmith with Enchanting secondary profession. You must have a Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler (purchased off AH or made by Engineer) and Empty Soul Cage (purchased off AH or made by JC) in your bags. Find an Earthshatter Elemental. When the health is very low, use a DoT and stun while you immediately channel your Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler. If the mob dies, you can just find another one and try again (the items do not get consumed). As a prot paladin, I got the mob to about 20k health then popped Seraphim, Consecration, Hammer of Justice, Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler. Make a castsequence macro if you are having problems. Some are saying it's an annoying mechanic but I found it fun! Good luck!

If you want Easy Mode for this one, just head to the future zone during a Storm's Fury event. From there you can find an earth elemental and drag it over to the PCs and NPCs who will make quick work of it for you.

Let's make players have to use a channeled device that must be actively used when the mob dies to count.

At the same time, let's just give this specific mob multiple different spells that will interrupt said cast without fail.

Another classic case of devs not playing their own game.

Just done this on 1st attempt as a BM Hunter. No DOTs i.e Barbed shot or Chakram. Burn it down to 15% ish. Pets on passive. Freezing trap. Cast Zapthrottle gadget. Once cast complete, pets to attack and kill it.

evokers: if you're getting earthen soul and the mobs interruping or stunning or knocking you up before you can finish your cast, Dream Walk is a really nice talent.

You can sleep the mobs, cast the item, and then you have 30 seconds to kill them to get your soul.

You can get the four souls on Azure Span, and even better, two on each subzone:

Imbu (Airy and Frosty Soul):

Vakthros (Fiery and Earthen Soul):

Instead of going across all Dragon Isles like most of these posts say, just stay on Azure Span on two zones near each other (Didn't see info on other posts about either Water Elemental nor Elemental Punisher, so just tested it)
