This pet was introduced in patch 5.1 as part of 12 new Vanilla Raid drops. There are three from each raid: Nucleo Ardente, Fortezza dell'Ala Nera, Ahn'qiraj, Naxxramas. Though technically a Wrath of the Lich King raid, Naxxramas was first released into the game during the final months before The Burning Crusade.

Drop rate is not 100%. Collecting all these pets will complete Incursore animalista which gives a final pet, Signor Bigolo

According to Cory Stockton (Lead Content Designer for World of Warcraft), additional pets for TBC and Wrath raids will become available in the future. (source)

For those wondering, or unable to find it, this teaches you to summon Corefire Imp (That page has his ability list).

He has:
Burn (Slot 1)
Immolation (Slot 2)
Cauterize (Slot 3)
Rush (Slot 1 2nd)
Flamethrower (Slot 2 2nd)
Wild Magic (Slot 3 2nd)

As you can see, he is a Humanoid that does Elemental damage, making him strong vs Mechanical and weak vs Critters. However, in an ironic little twist, Burn can be swapped for Rush to make him strong vs Critters (Because critters are weak vs humanoids). Immolation procs the Humanoid trait of 4% healing each round if it hits, so it is effectively both a HOT and a DOT when up. Flamethrower works similarly. And because Rush makes you go first, you can actually save Cauterize for after big hits, negating most of the damage and the opponent can't do much about it.

The Corefire Imp is incredibly effective in most situations because of this. Honestly, even though Rush isn't effective vs Mechanical, I'd say the bonuses it provides strategically more than make up for it. Keeping this guy as Rush, Immolation and Cauterize makes him a hard one to overcome except for Undead, and they aren't that common. I haven't gotten mine high enough to see how Rush, Flamethrower and Cauterize work together.

I did a second run this week and both Blazing Rune and Mark of Flame dropped so 2 out of 3. From BWL I also got 2 out of 3 minipets for both runs. From exerience alone it appears to me the droprate is quite high.

Assume all three minipets have the same droprate and the droprate would be 50% (which I think is really high), the probability of getting all 3 pets on one run would be 12,5% and 37,5% for getting 2 out of 3.

If the drop chance is 25% (still high, but would seem more likely to me) the probability of getting all 3 pets on one run is 1,6% and 14% for getting 2 out of 3. In that case "extremely lucky" would be rather accurate. The currently listed droprate is probably incorrect because it contains previous kills.
