The way this works seem to be that you unlock different duck colours. You get one for killing the boss in the quest chain, can't see how to get others just yet.

Using alts to get different colors doesn't work. The item unlocks specific color for that character only. :-(

"Fun" fact: the unlockable duck colors are NOT ACCOUNT-WIDE and if you haven't done the questline on an alt character they get NO OPTIONS when using the toy, making it effectively useless. Hopefully Blizzard fixes this soon and makes them account-wide unlocks.

Update: there was a blue post about this recently but keep in mind the conext of the post and that it was written by a technical support person, not an actual developer so I still do not believe this is intended behaviour. There's no way it's intended we have to do 6 years of quests on each character. Alts who have not done the questline can't even use the toy.

Keep reporting this as a bug (or feedback I guess) until it's fixed.

During the quest A una piuma di distanza, If you go straight to the Large Duck Nest, and find Daetan Swiftploom's dead body next to it, that's not the Daetan you need. His location didn't appear on the map until I'd used the Pozione d'Anatra. You can then cancel the buff so you can fly.

You need to go back upstream, use the Pozione d'Anatra again, and find him alive and sitting on a rock.

Only then can you go to the Large Duck Nest, use the Pozione d'Anatra and pick up the Uovo Dorato Cimelio to hand in to Zinnia Brooks to get your Camuffatore da Anatra .

The year is 2029. We have killed the First Ones but have learned that the Previous Ones created this universe and the First Ones themselves. We are all looking forward to finishing our Duck Disguiser colors soon.

Blue post - looks like it's intended to take 6 years to get all the ducks. That it's not account wide and you can't get all in one year seems rather dumb to me.

This is not a bug and the intention is that other colour variations are collected in future events.

So if you think this should be changed it would be through feedback/suggestions, rather than a bug report.

Lol, I will do the 6 colors on 6 alts and hope they fix it (= unlock the colors accountwide). If not, they can keep their colors.

I typically love seasonal content. But the past few have me wondering why I even bother. 40 ish toons per day for each event boss, and my bad luck RNG yeilds nothing. Im getting burnt out on doing the same thing repeatidly with the same bad results. What would be wrong with new seasonal rewards every year. I wouldn't even be mad to see lasts years on the in-game shop or Trading Post. But needing to spend years to maybe get the drop or complete a toy that should be fun is wearing thin.

As per Blizzard's no-fun-allowed rules, the disguise only lasts for 3 minutes. It should've been 15 at the very least.
You can't do much as a duck like dancing or summon a mount (requires you to drop the disguise, unlike other transformations) but you can sit down and sleep.

I really do not care about the recolors. Got the toy and that counts, do not have to collect allll the colors because I will probably never use the toy again. Should the color options be account wide? Absolutely. Do I care if they are not? Absolutely not. It's nothing but sad that it will take six years to complete, in my mind that was a slip up and not intended xd

I'm thankful that AT LEAST, at the BARE MINIMUM it is not a part of an achievement. That would be truly vile. So THANK YOU for it being only a part of a color option for a toy and not another 6 year achievement.

I really have to applaud Blizzard for this "amazing" toy design.

Unlock different colors by doing the initial quest 6 times with alts? Nah, you can't even use the toy if you don't do the quest on that character.
Unlock different colors by killing an event boss, and have them as random drops? Nah, have a new super-rare event mount drop instead.
Unlock different colors by doing a new duck daily quest? Nah, that would make too much sense. Honk honk!
Unlock different colors by buying them with event currency? Nah, what even is event currency for, are you kidding?
Unlock different colors by finding them hidden away around Elwynn Forest and Durotar, easter egg hunt style? Nah, too much hassle.
Unlock different colors by doing the quest for SIX YEARS, on a SINGLE CHARACTER? Yep, hire that guy, that's an amazing idea!

I truly wonder why didn't they let us have some silly fun with this toy, and instead made these stupid decisions.
It was so easy to make it work like Collezione Miniature di Azeroth: Meccagon. Account-wide unlock of new colors, for all characters to use.
Instead, they double-down on this dumb idea of unlocking one color per year.
People may say that it's just a minor thing, basically meaningless, but it's a part of a bigger problem.
By accepting this toy's design philosophy, you accept character-bound, time-limited content, just before and expansion which trumpets "account-wide everything".
For me, as a collector, this toy and the new super-rare event mount are a slap in the face.

While it sucks that we can't use most of the forms, I really love that it's on a 3 min cooldown and we can constantly use it.

It's a cute toy and I love being a tiny little duck when I please(bonus points when you get a weapon out sometimes, so good)
