This was originally a reward from the July 2023 Trading Post Traveler's Log reward track.

However, this will be coming back in 10.2 as a quest reward.

(will be active week of Nov.14 with the Misfit Dragons storyline)

There will be appropriate customizations added in 10.2 as well.

10.2 drake maybe? Emerald Dream (Grotto)?
later 10.1 build listed a Trading Post cost of 999 Moneta del Mercante, which I believe is a placeholder number for the items given out on the reward track.
newer 10.1.5 build no longer lists Trading Post cost again, so who knows whats going on with this item at this point.

Hopefully we can at least customize its colors - it'd be perfect if we could do all of the OG Netherwing drake colors

I'm sure Wowhead's database will catch up eventually, but if you're using a dragonriding mount macro that relies on mount ID and would like to use this one, the Grotto Netherwing Drake's mount ID is 1744. The macro I use is:
/run if IsUsableSpell(360954) then C_MountJournal.SummonByID(1744) end
(you can replace the "1744" with the Mount ID of any other Dragonriding Mount you'd like; the Proto-Drake is 1589, the Velocidrake is 1590, the Highland Drake is 1563, the Wylderdrake is 1591, the Slitherdrake is 1588, and of course again the Netherdrake is 1744.)

At this time, no customization available in Valdrakken for the Netherwing Drake.

If you zoom out too far the texture goes weird, it appears to get thicker at the base of the tail and thinner at the stomach, legs morph, teeth disappear and the white in the eye disappears. Looks really odd for people playing with max zoom and at certain angles the wings glitch. Hope this gets fixed. Happens to me only in Valdrakken.

I have a theory. So, prior to it being 100% confirmed that this was coming to the Trading Post, people speculated that this Netherwing Drake may come from the possible Emerald Dream / Green Dragonflight patch (10.2). That theme would fit in with the name of this dragon; "Grotto", implying the location is a 'garden' or that it's 'lush'. The other dragonriding mounts follow a similar naming convention and fit in with their location; Cliffside, Windborne, Renewed, Highland.

So, what if this mount is for a future patch, but it's being put on the Trading Post as a sort of early access for players. That could explain why the datamined customizations exist for it but aren't available in-game yet. It would kinda be crazy of Blizzard to introduce a whole new Dragonriding mount like this, but only have it be a temporary thing to unlock. That sure would suck for future players, wouldn't it? But, that's partially why I think this may just be an 'early access' of sorts. It would perfectly explain why it isn't customizable right now, because if my theory is true, then it isn't meant to be customizable yet.

It's going to be obtainable in a quest called "Dragon Keeping," coming in the 10.2 Guardians of the Dream patch.

An interesting thing I noticed is that, unlike the other dragonriding mounts, this one does not alert you to nearby dragon glyphs with either a chat message nor a buff.

Here's a macro that summons your Draco Alafatua della Grotta when in areas where Volo Draconico is usable, and casts Evocazione Cavalcatura Preferita Casuale everywhere else:

If you want to take the customization a step further and summon a specific mount (i.e. NOT a random favorite), just change the "SummonByID(0)end" on the second line to "SummonByID(mount ID of your choice)end" - an easy list of mount IDs can be found here: https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/MountID
If you want to take the customization even FURTHER by adding mod:key conditionals to summon other specific mounts (eg hold shift to summon the Meccaciclo Modello W), make sure to place those lines BEFORE the /cast line. You should have enough space to add two lines, and keep the Evocazione Cavalcatura Preferita Casuale option.
You can also just totally eliminate the #showtooltip line if you want to use a different icon. This is also a decent option if you want to save space for more conditionals.

This mount did not contribute towards the mount collection achievement, which is a shame as im 11 away from 500, was hoping to be 10 away from 500 after getting this one...

This has got to be the coolest mount ever! I can't wait until dragonriding gets added to old world so I can use this outside of the dragon isles!

The mount is not working on azeroth. Despite the tooltip saying it's an hybrid. I am a bit sad, would be cool if it was an hybrid, would be unique too!

When does it expire to get this mount? I thought it ended at the end of July. I was halfway there yesterday and now it says that it is expired?

Will they be making this mount available again in the future?

I only just started playing WoW again and was excited when I saw this as one of the new mounts, as the original one in BC of this color (Onyx) was my first ever reputation-grind mount... shame to see it was just a month of July thing.

Logged in in 10.2 and the default color of this guy changed from Teal to Purple... what the heck.

Has anyone figured out how to get the Teal Scales Manuscript? It says Centaur renown but I have maxed that and can't find it at a vendor

It says Niffen Renown, but it doesn't show on vendor and I already have maxed out Loam Niffen rep.

This mount is modern WoW all over.

Reused old model.
Customisations not ready in time.
Make it a fomo reward, then randomly add in another way of getting it without letting players know at the time it was still a fomo reward.
Lock some of the customisations behind older DF renown, but even those with max renown cannot unlock them.

IMO they should refund the traders tender we spent on this mount for them to go and make it an easy quest reward that is some poop IMO.

Anyone else's netherwing have a golden glow? When I edit the mount on the Rostrum it shows a purple smokey-glow, but when I mount it the glow is gold/yellow.

Edit: saw a post on the Blizz forums that said the color of the glow is tied to your Algarian Stormrider mount's color. Weird bug.
