This mount comes from a multi-step process requiring quite a bit of fishing.

You must first obtain the Empty Fish Barrel by first using the Occhiali da Sole Acquatici toy (obtained via the Sacca Incontaminata di Tesori di Drospo), visiting the dive bar north of the Obsidian Citadel at roughly /way 19.16, 36,60, and then standing on the dance pad located next to the bar. After dancing for five minutes, you'll be teleported back up to Vazallia's hangout spot, and the barrel will be in front of you as a usable object.

You must then combine the barrel with x100 Pesce dei Ghiacci Gelido (fished from open waters around Iskaara), combine it again with x25 Carpa Funesta (fished from open lava around the Obsidian Citadel - does NOT require lava fishing from Tuskarr rep), and then finally x1 Re Pinna, il Saggio Pescebaffo (fished from open waters around Algethar Academy). Once you’ve done so, take the barrel back to where you found it and Otto will appear to offer you the mount. You have to use the barrel in your inventory each time you get the required amount of fish before the next fish will start dropping.

Bonus fun little interaction: using the Occhiali da Sole Acquatici toy and then mounting up will cause Otto to sport a matching pair of shades!

The glasses on the mount wont scale in size to your race. Eg. A Tauren mounted on Otto makes the glasses to small on him and they clip inside his head and look awfull. :( please fix bliz

Took me about 40 min for the Frigid Floe Fish and 30min for the Carp and 15min for the King Fish. Happy Fishing!

Got it in about 2h of game time. Put on a podcast or your favourite music on and get at it.
When he is wearing the shades he looks really cool. The grind was worth it jsut for that.

Steps to obtain Otto

(1) FIrst obtain a Moneta d'Oro delle Isole from Il Grande Drospo or through spear fishing threshers.

To buy Gold coin you need to fish or buy 5 Moneta d'Argento delle Isole
To buy a Silver coin you need to fish 15 Moneta di Rame delle Isole per silver coin you need to buy.
In total 75 Moneta di Rame delle Isole are needed unless you get lucky and get higher value currency while spear fishing.

(2) Once you have the Gold coin, use it to purchase Sacca Incontaminata di Tesori di Drospo from the same NPC that sells the Gold Coin Il Grande Drospo
The Sacca Incontaminata di Tesori di Drospo has a high but not guaranteed chance to drop Occhiali da Sole Acquatici You need the Shades to do the next steps.
If you do not get the shades from the Swog Treasures, repeat the above steps to buy another Sac of Swog Treasures and try again.

(3) Use the Aquatic Shades and go into the water at The Waking Shores, /way 19.1 36.6. There The NPC will have some comment dialog about your new shades.
If the NPC commented then you have done everything correctly so far and can go over to the dance floor (the 9 colorful tile looking thing) and /dance.
Remain dancing for about 5 minutes and you will be teleported to the area out of the water nearby. Infront of you is a Barile di Pesce Vuoto, make sure to pick it up.

(4) Once you have the Empty Fish Barrel, you can begin catching the fish required to fill up the barrel.
You have to catch the fish in order and add them to the barrel to be able to catch the next set of fish.

With Barile di Pesce Vuoto in your inventory, catch 100x Pesce dei Ghiacci Gelido. These can be fished from the water around Iskaara in the Azure Span, I caught them at /way 13.7 48.5
With Barile di Pesce Mezzo Pieno in your inventory, catch 25x Carpa Funesta can be fished from the low laying lava rivers east of the Obsidian Citadel in The Waking Shores
With Barile di Pesce Vibrante in your inventory, catch 1x Re Pinna, il Saggio Pescebaffo can be fished from the water near Algeth'ar Academy in Thaldraszus

(5) Return to where you picked up the Barrel Barile di Pesce Vuoto in The Waking Shores and place the Barile di Pesce Traboccante. This will cause Otto to appear, giving you the quest Ottonere un po' di affetto

okay fyi if you don't click on Otto to pick up/complete the quest to receive him, he'll disappear after a little bit and you'll have to do the frigid floe fish, carp and kingfin again.

I got all fishes collected and filled the barrel as it says i have to bring it back to where i found it, but when i go to the dancefloor and the debuff runs out after 5 mins, the debuff starts again and i dont get teleported to the location to get the Mount... anyone has the same problem? any fix?

Click on Premade Groups
Click on Custom
Type in Lunker
Join raid
Head to The Waking Shores, where your raid is located.
Bring Harpoon, Beer, and Netflix
Do NOT DPS the Lunkers, just use your harpoon on them! (you can pew pew the rare spawns though)

I was able to get all 60 copper coins, 1 silver coin, and even 1 gold coin from a full raid pulling in lunkers in 1 hour.

Quest is broken for me. I fished all the stuff. I got otto to spawn.

I click him for heart of the otto quest.

It auto completes. I cant mount it and now its dissapeared.

Does anyone know a fix for this?

I was able to get Otto in about 4.5 hours from scratch.

Part 1, collecting the coins, is the worst part. Find a raid group and get comfortable. After about 3 hours I had 33 copper coins and fished up a gold. This saved me several hours.

Filling the fishing barrel took about 1.5 hours to finish all 3 fish. Not bad at all.

I did not have a dragonflight fishing pole or enchant or anything special, so nothing is required other than the shades on the dance floor.

Returning the barrel was surprisingly tricky, as nothing tells you where to take it. I placed it down at precisely 20.37 39.70; about 10 feet from Guff Runetotem.

i just spend like 5 hours in a lunker fishing group to grind up copper coins. got the glasses and barrel - upon fishing up the 100 Frigid Floe Fish i fished up 1 silver coin and 1 gold coin... soo... just fish, don't bother with lunker groups.

How to get Otto the secret mount !

Get yourself 1 x Moneta d'Oro delle Isole : this is the hard part, lot of farming.

Best way is group farming with the Arpione di Iskaara method, but fishing also works, taking more time.
Realistically, you'll be trading 75 x Moneta di Rame delle Isole for 5 x Moneta d'Argento delle Isole for the Moneta d'Oro delle Isole to Il Grande Drospo.

Get an Sacca Incontaminata di Tesori di Drospo from Il Grande Drospo, at the cost of 1 Moneta d'Oro delle Isole. The chances to get Occhiali da Sole Acquatici inside are around 60%.
If you don't get it, farm again :)

Now you were lucky to get Occhiali da Sole Acquatici in this EXPENSIVE bag, use these.

You have to get to the Bubble Bath bar, and dance at a specific spot for 5 minutes with the glasses on.
These 5 minutes are tracked by the debuff : Balla, Balla fino alla Morte.

Yes, 5 minutes, 300 seconds. Put a timer on, or just wait until you get the mount. Show your flow, hero !

Now you danced enough, you got teleported ! Pick up the Barile di Pesce Vuoto in front of you, and fill it with fishes ! A lot of them.
And the fun part is you will need to fish them yourself, as they're binded when picked. You will need :

100 x Pesce dei Ghiacci Gelido, from open waters around Iskaara.
25 x Carpa Funesta, fished from open lava around the Obsidian Citadel.
1 x Re Pinna, il Saggio Pescebaffo, fished from open waters around Algeth'ar Academy.

That was a lot of fishing. Time for finishing, instead !
For that, you need to get back to the Hissing Grotto. There, simply pick the quest Ottonere un po' di affetto and complete it.
GG, that's a cool Otto You got !And if you were the sunglasses, so will he. He's that cool.

Not sure if this will end up being true for anyone else, but for some reason I had better luck getting coins from regular fishing than doing any of the Lunker events / harpooning Threshers. Threshers did drop some bronze coins for me, but not nearly as many as I got just through fishing by itself. By the time I was done, I'd used 30x bronze coins to get 2x silver, and had fished up the other three silver coins on my own and I did most of my fishing in Iskaara near the soup pot. This is definitely subjective though since a friend of mine got a gold coin from a Thresher, so I guess my only suggestion is to stick with the method you have the best luck with.

I was using a +110 Perception crafted Khaz'gorite Fisherfriend as well as keeping the buff from Crystalline Phial of Perception up at all times, and maxed out my Fishing skill during the process of getting all the coins.

Since no one put the time for things. It took me about 10 hours for coins - 1 hour for the 100 fish, 25 mins for the 25 fish. and the one fish about 15mins

Probably not news to anyone, but thought I'd mention it anyway... As the Occhiali da Sole Acquatici are a toy, you can use them on any character. You can do the farming of coins on one character and then do the rest on another. Each character would have to get their own Barile di Pesce Vuoto, and fill their own barrel. The fish in the barrels are NOT cumulative across your account. No idea if fishing skill / perception make any difference to drop rate of the fish you farm for the barrel, but if they do, being able to switch to another character to get fish for the barrel may be helpful.

If you're nitpicky like me, you can make a custom macro:

/use aquatic shades
/cast Otto

That will turn on the shades every time you want to mount up. The toy doesn't run on the GCD, so there is no lag time!

Anyone else having a weird bug when using this mount? Whenever Im in the water even if my head is above water, it wont let my camera go above water. So, I'm stuck staring at his underside and its making me claustrophobic. Anyone else?

If you're not a fan of fishing, the coins can also be found in Tuskarr Tackleboxes - got a bunch of copper and one silver opening these, which can be found in plentiful supply around the Temporal Conflux and other watery areas in Thaldraszus. You also get plenty of Lurker shells, fish and random grey items so you can earn a bit of gold at the same time.

There are a lot of comments here about how this mount requires a whole load of fishing. However, I managed to loot a Moneta d'Oro delle Isole from a Cassetta da Pescatore dei Tuskarr! I'm not sure what the chances of this are (probably very low) but just thought I'd mention it as an alternative way to get this item. Good luck everyone!

Just wanted to include tips for others that helped me after wasting a lot of time tracking down coins:

The Azure Span fishing hole netted me more coins (and fishing reagents for the Tuskarr fishing items) than anywhere else. Specifically, the frozen deep fishing holes. However, I think there might be a cap to how many of these you can find per ~~week~~ rotation as they have more or less stopped propagating for me, but I was able to find about 10 of the deep fishing holes over a two hour span. I had to frequently restock the fishing hole as the quality of catches, the ability to find deep fishing holes, as well as the time the fishing holes remain active all drop if the area is not "rich" with fish, so make sure you have plenty of fish handy to contribute. The deep fishing holes also net you more Rimefin tuna and you can collect x2 at a time. I collected four silver coins, all of the reagents needed for all of the fishing upgrades for the Tuskarr equipment and the remaining 7 copper coins I needed to purchase the fifth silver coin. I'm sure the ability to obtain these items will vary by account, and possibly location, but it's worth mentioning. I was max level for DF fishing and have the Khaz'orgite Fishing Friend (quality 2) equipped with an additional perception enchant attached to it.

Two additional details I wish I had known sooner that would have made this easier: there is a fishing addon called "Better Fish" which I did not find until I was on the last fish needed for the achievement. This addon is incredibly useful as it enables you to cast and collect fish using a single button. It's seriously a game changer for those who fish a lot, and it's so far not been discouraged by Blizz (to my knowledge) as it is merely utilizing the "interact" option feature that was recently added. Set up is super easy, too.

Side note for those who want the ability to fish in peace, especially with WM turned on, the river raft task to obtain the Tuskarr Dignhy has been nerfed as of the most recent patch, and it's much easier to obtain the fish needed to get the toy. After 40+ attempts prior to the changes, it only took two this time around. The trick is to simply acquire as many fish as possible in the starting area. They respawn quickly and the net interaction response has improved.

Don't do what I did and walk onto the dance pad and THEN put on the glasses. Nothing happens.

I typed /dance and stood there for a good 10minutes before walking off and on again.

The buff then appeared and I put my head through my desk.

getting a lousy otter mount, that you can get many recolors for almost free, after literal hours of fishing (including the gold coin for the swog)... it's so annoying and disappointing. I did all that but it's just so unfun... why do they add things like that

Step by step instructions:
First you need to get a Moneta d'Oro delle Isole from fishing or Lunker Threshers. But this is a very rare drop.
Alternatively, you can collect 75 Moneta di Rame delle Isole, or 5 Moneta d'Argento delle Isole.
1 Moneta d'Argento delle Isole costs 15 Moneta di Rame delle Isole. Use these to purchase the Moneta d'Oro delle Isole from Il Grande Drospo. You can find him in a cave in Ohn'ahran Plains - coordinates 82,73.

Use the Moneta d'Oro delle Isole to purchase the Sacca Incontaminata di Tesori di Drospo from Il Grande Drospo. The sac has a change to contain Occhiali da Sole Acquatici but it is not a 100% drop.

Use the Occhiali da Sole Acquatici and go to the Waking Shores, coordinates 19,36. There is an underwater area and an NPC named Kajiki who comments on your shades, which means that you have done everything correctly so far. Head over to the dancefloor nearby and /dance for 5 minutes. While dancing you should have a debuff Balla, Balla fino alla Morte. Make sure you are wearing the glasses before you go to the dancefloor. Once the 5 minutes are up you are automatically teleported out of the water. You will see an in front of you. Pick it up, and it’s time to catch some fish!

You need to catch the following:

100 Pesce dei Ghiacci Gelido from the Iskaara area in the Azure Span. You can fish anywhere in the open waters. Be sure to have your shades on or you won’t catch any fish! When you catch 100 frigid floe fish, click on the barrel to change it to a Barile di Pesce Mezzo Pieno. If you skip this step you will not be able to catch the second batch of fish.
25 Carpa Funesta from the lava rivers east of the Obsidian Citadel in the Waking Shores. Same as before, once you have all 25 fish, click on the barrel to change it to a Barile di Pesce Vibrante.
1 Re Pinna, il Saggio Pescebaffo from the waters close to Algeth'ar Academy - coordinates 56,44. The best place to fish for Kingfin is on the platform next to 2 fishing Dracthyr. Remember to have your shades on or you’ll be fishing for nothing. Once you get Kingfin, click on the barrel to have an Barile di Pesce Traboccante.

Return to the waking shores to the Hissing Grotto where you picked up the barrel and place your new overflowing fish barrel on the ground - coordinates 20,39. Otto will then appear giving you the quest Ottonere un po' di affetto, and gratz! You’ve got yourself the Otto mount.

A tip while trying to catch this fish, and even the others before: use the Galleggiante Eccessivo while fishing, because catching 100 fish while using an oversized bobber will get you the Peschissimevolissimevolmente achievement, giving you the Galleggiante Eccessivo Riutilizzabile!

If you are planning on getting the achievement called "BEST IN SLOT" you might want to get the achievement itself first and then see how many coins you have left. In my case I got Otto first, then approx. 2 months later I decided to finish the achievement, which took around 20hours on its own. During those 20hr-farm I actually got 6 silver coins and nearly 60 copper coins thanks to:
Crystalline Phial of Perception
+ Khaz'gorite Fisherfriend
+Enchant Tool - Draconic Perception

Then getting Otto would require much less time, provided you pursue this achievement first. I hope this comment saves you some time!

These drop from Ser Pizzicot in Forbidden Reach - if you summon him he drops 1-2 copper coins (and I even got a gold coin!). He can be repeated and the item to summon him (Granchio Gracidante Elusivo) is cheap on the AH (for now).

The easiest way to farm the coins these days is with Granchio Gracidante Elusivo.

These are cheap to buy at the moment on the AH. There is only one location for the Empty Crab Trap in The Forbidden Reach at 23 67 and it spawns every 6-8 minutes. Spawning the rare gives you the Summoner's Luck buff that rewards special loot when it dies. This always gives you one of:

You will receive this reward every time you summon. It is not a weekly or daily lock-out. If you have a Crab in your bags the Trap will show up on your minimap as a four-pointed star when it spawns.

Reach renown level 27 with the Tuskarr which unlocks Tuskarr Tackleboxes (treasures). Been fishing for some time and managed to fish 3 silver coins. Once I reached renown 30, went to collect some tackleboxes. 4th or 5th tacklebox - gold coin.

Save yourself a lot of time by getting Cappello da Pesca di Stoffabrada Magistrale and Canna da Pesca di Khaz'gorite. With these I fished at Ruby Life Pools only in fishing holes 80% of the 6-8 hrs i spent fishing. I only got the 2 items mentioned almost half way though my fishing and I ended up looting 5 silver coins and about 4 copper coins after equipping them (my last time looting a silver coin i looted 2 of them!) In total I ended with 5 silver coins and 11 copper coins. Happy fishing!

For people looking up a good place to fish Calamitous Carp - 27, 53 at the Obsidian Citadel. Fished on the metal-walkway part above and to the left of the magma worm. The pat on the top never walks close enough. Pop your Shades (they seem to give you a higher catch chance), and fish away!

It took me catching 2514 fish to get the coins I needed. That was 2786 fish and other things caught. My casting arm is tired! I was up to 4 silver coins and 13 copper coins. I only needed two more copper to turn everything in for my gold coin. Then when I was fishing in a prismatic leaper school I got a gold coin! All that time and I finally fished up a gold coin. Now I have all thee silver and copper coins as "extra". LOL

Got this mount today and noticed something I don't think I've seen mentioned previously - Otto will also wear Occhiali da Sole Dorati if you mount up while having them equipped (or transmogged onto a head slot item).

It doesn't seem to work for other types of glasses as far as I can tell.

I'll be honest, he looks pretty damn awesome in gold. Take a look at the screenshot I uploaded.

I suggest u guys to farm Ser Pizzicot if you have some golds to spend and you don't want to fish a lot..

Killing him will reward you 1 to 2 copper coin (when u get some), 1 silver coin or 1 gold coin
I was waiting 5 to 10 mns between each spawn, watching Netflix.

I already had 35 copper coin from fishing since the beginning of DF, so i bought 20 Granchio Gracidante Elusivo just to try with this NPC. (U can fish them too if u're interested in fishing)

I got 10 Copper Coins & 2 Silver Coins. Using 12 times the Elusive Croaking Crab.
Have to say that i didn't get any coins on 2 spawns, i got these bags with some Cards inside to craft trinkets, for the 2 other spawns, i got 2 copper coins.

The cost has been around 4k gold on my server.

Pain in the ass to have to wear the glasses toy to get Otto to wear glasses too. Means it's worthless to add him to your favorites if you use the summon random favorite mount button. A waste of time other than +1 to the mount collection.

Took me around 2 days of casually doing the tasks to get Otto, of course I didn't fish all day, I preferred to kill the rare and gold a gold coin to drop in about 20 tries or so, after that, i just fished at the provided locations and got the epic fish around 70 casts.

Right click in the comments section for chat and you will see a window pop up showing you the fish...there you will see the number you have. It will stay open till you close it. Posted a screen shot so you can see what I'm talking about
