The snail for this is located in the bottom of the lava pool at Scalecracker Peaks in the Waking Shores, coords approximately 71.1, 25.1
You will take quite a bit of damage from the lava, so I recommend bringing and/or being a healer.
You'll need to have an Empty Magma Shell in your inventory, which appears to drop from the Lavaslurper mobs on the western side of the citadel, before you can interact with the snail.

You can also use Corno Perpetuo di Lava to prevent any lava damage, not sure where it drops but my friend has it so i'm guessing it is from the rares around Obsidian Citadel. (will update if I found out)

Edit: I just got the horn from looting Inferna the Bound at the end of Dragonbane Siege event. NOT from the strongbox after the kill.

Got the Empty Magma Shell from Lavaslurpers while trying to get the spices for the rare in the Obsidian Citadel.
Then i went to the 71, 25 spot and in the lava circle lake, at the bottom, there was a snail that i could interact with and at the end of the cast i got the mount added to my collection. You can use Everlasting Horn of Lavaswimming for the lava.

How to obtain the mount:

1. Head to /way 29.08 74.24 and find Trangugialava or Guscio di Basalto in the Waking Shores
2. Do the mass annihilation of snails to obtain Guscio di Magma Vuoto (Got me 15 kills to loot it.)
3. Once you get the one Guscio di Magma Vuoto head to /way 71.11 25.65
4. Jump into that lava puddle and interact with Lumaca Potenziata. You will cast 20 seconds under the lava so its good to take a healer with You or have Corno Perpetuo di Lava

To obtain Gusciomagma, you have to find an Guscio di Magma Vuoto.
These have a chance to drop off Trangugialavas. Once you obtain this item, go over to Lumaca Potenziata inside the lava and use the item on it.

Note: Corno Perpetuo di Lava allows you to avoid the Lava damage, so it's really useful to have for this mount, as the snail is located in a lava pool. Bringing a healer will work too.

As a demon hunter, go vengeance for this. The only relevant talent is Last Resort. Don't pop meta or anything, just swim into the lava and start casting. Around 15 sec in, cheat death (Last Resort) will procc, and the most important thing, is that IT DOESN'T CANCEL THE CAST. It just activates meta and puts you at around 30% hp, which gives you the time to finish the cast and get that mount.

As this is now hotfixed into the game.

Warlocks! Go any pet spec. Keep your pet outside, run in with unending resolve up and immediately use soulburn:healthstone into dark bargain with the lower health % shield. I was able to survive with 30% HP left and complete it.

Paladins without the toy can do the following:
1. Swap to Protection, turn on PVP, and make sure you use the regular talent Dono della Val'kyr Dorata and the PVP talent Guardiano della Regina Dimenticata.
2. Dive in, bubble, and begin channeling.
3. When bubble ends, you will drop to 30% health and your guardian queen immunity will kick in for 10 seconds.
4. Enjoy new mount.

There was plenty of time between bubble, dropping health, and the queen to complete the full channel.

Soloed it with my Paladino.

How to get the mount:

Go to '/way 37.0 73.6' and find some lava snails (Lumaca di Lava, Lumacone di Lava, or Trangugialava).
Begin annihilating all snails you see. Eventually, you will get Guscio di Magma Vuoto.
Go to '/way 71.0 25.0' to find Lumaca Potenziata. If you don't see the snail, wait for 25-30 mins for it to respawn. You can also try joining some random group in Group Finder to abuse WoW sharding mechanic.
Once you see Lumaca Potenziata, jump into the lava and interact with it. You will start casting Lumaca Ingrossata which takes 20 sec to finish, so be prepared for spending that long in lava pool. You can bring a healer with you, use Corno Perpetuo di Lava, or try to solo it as a cool guy with your class abilities.

How to solo the snail as a Paladino:

Be ready to die in the end.
Jump into the lava and start swimming towards the snail.
When you've almost reached the snail, cast Scudo Divino and Scudo della Vendetta.
Interact with Lumaca Potenziata. I used Shift + RMB to enable auto looting just in case.
After about 9 sec of casting (if timed properly) you'll lose your Divine Shield.
Show no fear. You still have Shield of Vengeance and almost a full health bar, so just continue channeling the snail.
After receiving the mount, you will still have about 15% of your health, so there is a small window for you shield spell timings.
Don't try to heal yourself, just die peacefully, like a cool guy with a lava snail mount.

P.S.: Sorry to a Gnomo Guerriero and Umano Sacerdote party that was camping the snail and fishing. I was there before and I had a timer for it.

I just got the mount today and I only farmed some Lavaslurpers for a few minutes around Dragonbane Keep and got the Guscio di Magma Vuoto. It can also be bought from the AH if you don't want to spend time farming.

I went to the lava lake at /way 71.11 25.65 with my healer partner who also happen to have the Corno Perpetuo di Lava toy and saw the Empowered Snail. He healed me while the cast was ongoing when I clicked on the Empowered Snail in the lava pool. Finally got my mount!

The Empowered Snail disappears after someone loots it and my partner will have to wait for another 30minutes (toy CD) so he can loot it this time. We'll see if the Empowered Snail will reappear by then.

Completed this solo on an ilvl 377 preservation evoker just by popping Renewing Blaze and Obsidian Scales as I jumped into the lava before clicking the snail. It was super close, and died in the lava within a second of completing the 20 second cast. If that didn't work I was going to cast a reversion on me before going down but didn't end up needing to. No everlasting horn needed (I don't even have one yet).

How to solo this as a hunter:

Stand on the small platform near the lava, pop Aspect of the Turtle and just hop in. You should be immune, but you also seem to remain immune to lava even after the aspect wears off for i think 10-15 minutes for some reason.

Also fun to see others wondering how on earth you're immune without any buffs or the toy.

I was able to solo it as a Holy Priest, ilvl 367 (204k health). I had the following helpful talents:

Protective Light
Spell Warding (Not sure if this helps)
Angelic Bulwark

I also had the Breezy Companion trinket.

I waited for the Breezy Companion effect to proc and then shielded myself. I quickly swam down and spammed Flash Heal until I was full and the Protective Light was proc'd. I re-shielded myself and started the channel. Angelic Bulwark kicks in near the end to give you a few more ticks. The channel ended with just enough time for me to re-shield, spam heal and swim out.

As a druid just go resto specc, cast Lifebloom, rejuvenation, regwroth, wild growth, iron bark and barkskin then you go into bear form and click the snail. Made it with enough hp to be able to pop a health pot in the end and not die :)

Used a fire mage with cauterize talent.

I swim down to the snail so I am close enough to interact with it, drink a healing potion used Refreshing Healing Potion (Quality 3) to get back to full HP, instantly followed by the Blazing Barrier spell. The moment I cast Blazing Barrier I instantly begin the cast with the snail.
Once cauterize kicks in, there was a small amount of the cast left, I end up getting the mount but only just, I still die in the lava and need to fly back / take resurrection sickness.

Then Riptide
You can even pop Healing tide because we all love healing tide
jump in the lava and use the thing.
If you get scared, use the healing potion

As a warlock I was able to swim close enough to channel on the snail and pop Dark Pact; I came extremely close to death before getting the mount, but ultimately got it. Possibly losing a bit of life first, then popping Soul Burn + Healthstone might give you a little more breathing room, but I would recommend a macro if you plan to do that.

I dunno if it was a bug, but I went with Cloak of Shadows active before stepping in lava and as it ran out while submerged, I did not take damage while casting and swimming.

GUYS! I found a bug, trying to get this mount, as a DK if you use Scudo Antimagia before entering the lava, the effect continues and the lava doesn't deal damage to you even when the anti magic shell effect is gone :D

Just about managed it solo on a brewmaster, celestial brew first, fortifying brew for extra stagger and damage resistance and dampen harm. roll through the lava and hope you can start the channel at the right time. I survived on 2%, probably a much better way but i don't really play much Brew so don't know it all that well but a win is a win

You can get this solo as a demonology warlock if you pop Dark Pact and Unending Resolve just as you enter the lava. This talent might give a little extra help as well.

I was able to solo it as a warrior/jewelcrafter.

Went Prot, made sure to have Veterano Temprato dalla Battaglia, then popped Spell Reflection, Shield Wall, Last Stand, and Commanding Shout as I jumped in. Thinking back, I believe lava damage is health-based so the health buffs probably didn't matter. I am also a Jewelcrafter, so I used a 2-star Intaglio Rosso Rivitalizzante. I was able to get the mount and survive.

As you jump into the lava and swim down, cast these:

1. Celestial Brew
2. Fortifying Brew
3. Dampen Harm
4. Diffuse Magic

I'm 380 ilvl but not sure it matters since I think lava dmg is % dmg anyways. Good luck!

As a monk I went :

Swim to the snail, leave Trascendenza, come back to the rock.
Use Evocazione: Statua della Serpe di Giada
There are 2 Fenice di Lava flying around, aggro one, kill it, leave the ashes for it to respawn.
Pop Birra Fortificante > Diminuzione del Dolore > Dispersione della Magia > Nebbia del Sollievo > Tocco del Karma on respawned Phoenix > Trascendenza: Trasferimento and instantly click the snail to channel 20s cast
Pray for enough health

Just did this at 354 ilvl as a holy paladin. Hit Divine Protection going into the lava, once snail in clicking distance I hit Divine Shield and cast: Tyr's Deliverance, Light's Hammer, Avenging Wrath, Divine Toll, Aura Mastery for Devotion Aura and then finally Consecration. I also had a stam food buff and a Draconic Augment Rune active. Also important to note for you to have all talents active that enable consecration to heal you. I got it on the final tick - I still died but I died happy. Happy snail catching :D

You can solo with mage too:
Go fire with cauterize.
When u get to snail block to heal urself to full.
As soon block ends pop mirror images talented 20% minus damage taken, blazing barrier and greater invisibility and begin to channel.
U can even leave lava alive.

Death Knights can use Anti-Magic Shell before hitting the lava which will negate lava damage for around 20-25 seconds.

Spawn Tips:

If you hate waiting, shard hop using custom groups by joining large lobbies like "Grand Hunts", "Elementals", "Trials", or "Rare Farms"

Catching Tips:

Use two vigor points to fly straight up with your dragon and nose-dive at the snail to get 10 stacks of Dragonrider's Compassion (it's at the bottom of the pool)

Cast Anti-Magic Shell before you hit the lava which will dismount you

Swim down to snail and click on it. You should be able to survive long enough for the cast

Got it today 19/12/2022 as rogue. Cloak and Dragonrider's Compassion worked for me to negate damage, although even after they expired I continued to take no damage at all.

As a shadow priest with 230k health, I did this by:
Flying directly down in the middle where the snail is, while swimming to the bottom I popped Desperate Prayer, Power Word: Shield and finally Dispersion.
I then clicked the the snail, and when I got the mount, I still had 3 ticks left of lava damage before I died.

I also had Angelic Bulwark.
And I forgot about the damage reduction from fade, it's probably useful to also pop fade on start.

As a level 64 Druid, I switched to Resto spec and picked every self preservation talent I could find.

I flew up to get the vigor shield Compassione del Cavalcadraghi and then dive bombed the snail in the lava.
I then quickly popped off:

I soloed this today with my lvl 70 Warlock. i used a macro with Soulburn, Healthstone, and Dark Pact. i casted Unending Resolve then jumped in, as soon as i got close enough to him i hit my macro and clicked on the snail. i was able to get the mount but died like right then. As Far as getting the Guscio di Magma Vuoto it took me about an hour of killing all snails in the area /way 71.0 25.0 .

How to do this as Mage:

Put on your best gear.
Cast Ice Barrier
Cast Mirror Image
Remove all your equipment, maybe with a saved gearset.
Mount up, preferably on something that can dive/swim like an Ottuk.
Dive in and click the snail.

Soloed it on a Devastation Evoker. Mounted up and flew around to get Dragonrider's Compassion to max stacks. Landed, targeted the snail with /tar emp, dismounted, cast Living Flame on myself three times (without untargeting the snail, mouseover macro) to stack the talented HoT. Popped Obsidian Scales and Renewing Blaze and jumped in, swimming straight for the snail and started channeling.

With the combined shield, damage reduction, and self-healing I was halfway through the channel before my health actually started going down and staying down. Finished the channel with about 1/4th health left. Could've made it out of the lava alive if not for the fact that when I surfaced I was on the wrong side and the wall was too sheer to climb/jump out.

Once you have Empty Magma Shell, as a Demon Hunter, you can change spec to Tank (Vengeance) and take , this will be enough for you to survive lava if you start channeling asap. I also took Darkness and used it before channeling, but I am not sure if that helped.

Solo'd this on Preservation evoker, popped tip the scales, swam down. Used dream breath, popped rewind, renewing blaze and obsidian scales. Then popped emerald communion and clicked the snail. Got out alive on 13% health.

- emerald blossom

- another emerald blossom
- now click on the empowered snail.

After you get the Gusciomagma, find the Lumaca Potenziata at 71, 25 under the lava. It does have a short 15-ish min spawn timer, so you may have to wait a moment if your friend just looted theirs. Once you click on the Lumaca Potenziata, it will start a cast, and you'll have to stay under the lava for a good 20 sec - make sure you have defensives! If you're lucky enough to have it, you can also use the Corno Perpetuo di Lava to avoid damage.

Got it just now, BM Hunter, 10 stacks of Dragonrider's Compassion and Aspect of the Turtle, Aspect ran out pretty quick after I actually got to the shell, I took zero damage throughout the entire cast getting the mount.

I was able to solo it as a Frost Mage. I casted Mirror Image, used my dragon to dive in right beside it, casted Barrier, Alter Time, then clicked on it. (If you choose the talent “Reabsorption” your mirror images will heal you when they die. I don’t have that talent chosen but for some reason when I did this it worked?) Let Alter Time do its thing and you’ll survive long enough. Don’t move at all after you cast your spells.

Also using /tar emp worked great because he’s small and you can’t see him by just looking at the lava. I stood there for an hour like a !@#$% looking and never saw it.

HUNTERS: Once you have the shell and reach the Scalecracker Peaks lava pool, edge down the tall rock at 71.15 25.50 until near the lava. DISMISS YOUR PETS or Activision/PETA will chase you for DF cooking them and not eating them yourself!

Next hit your Aspect of the Turtle and Aspect of the Cheetah and rush down to the bottom of the lava. You'll see what looks like a flat dead baby snail. Click on the SNAIL, not the shell in your bag, until it pops the free Gusciomagma mount.

NOTE: Currently if Turtle finishes you will not take damage for another minute after obtaining the Gusciomagma. After testing: if you decide a lava bath is your thing, it'll then fry you and "make you one with the lava". Nearest graveyard is roughly 600 yards away unless RNG randomly spawns you 2k across the zone.

The empty shell isn't soulbound, so feel absolutely free to send it to your alts or guildies or even AH it.

pres evoker ilvl 374 - 217k hp. So what I did was
1. Hover over above the snail.
2. Get in clicking distance.
3. Verdant embrace.
4. Dream breath level 1.
5. Echo.
6. Reversion.
7. Obsidian scale
8. Renewing blaze.
9. Click the snail.

I got the snail at around 20% health. I picked Call of Ysera in preservation talent tree but if you didn't pick it skip step 3

I managed to get this on my lvl 70 Destruction Warlock 230k hp. I used Respiro Eterno and set up my Varco Demoniaco close to the snail. You can just cast it somewhere near the middle, I didn't land mine perfectly near the snail and it still worked. Then I casted Determinazione Assoluta, Patto Oscuro, Consumo d'Anima, Pietra della Salute quickly (you can use a macro but just using an action bar works too), used the teleport and made it just in time. Got the Guscio di Magma Vuoto from Trangugialava in the lava zones around the middle island (/way 33, 64) and took around 50 kills.

I'm lazy, so I asked for a healer in chat, jumped in, clicked, boom, mount. I bought the item at the AH for 800g. So check your AH beforehand and you may luck out bc it was 20k just 2 days ago.

Easy money; just bring a healer in and save yourself the trouble LOL. Happy huntin'!

As a Vengeance DH, I still managed to solo it after they made the cast 20 seconds. Last Resort was not enough, and after several fruitless attempts, I ate some hands-on stamina food and dived in. This was enough to finish the cast right before dying.

place Transcendence to one ot he nearby rocks
swim to Empowered Snail
heal yourself to full
use Life Cocoon on yourself (should give you around 500k shield)
click on the Snail
wait till you get the mount
Transcendence: Transfer out of the lava

To get this mount, you need to collect an Guscio di Magma Vuoto, which is somewhat of a rare drop from Trangugialava, Lumacone di Lava and Lumaca di Lava . You can easily find these critters in the rocky lava area on the west side of the Waking Shores. There aren’t many of them, so if someone else is farming these, you may have a hard time finding any.

Once it drops for you, you have to travel to 71,25, north east of the Waking Shores, where you will find a large lava pool and at the bottom of it there is the Lumaca Potenziata. If you don’t see the snail, wait for it to respawn, shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes, or join a random group until you phase to somewhere where it’s up. You have to interact with the empowered snail to, I guess, put the shell on him, and the cast time is about 20 seconds. The lava will kill you. If you’re a healer, just pop sum HOTS on yourself before jumping in. If you’re not a healer, be sure to take a healer with you to keep you alive. There is also a toy, the Corno Perpetuo di Lava, which lets you swim in lava without taking any damage.

As a warlock I did this as Destro,
Swim down and drop personal circle, swim out and survive. Eat to full hp, fly on dragonriding mount to get 10 stacks of the shield, fly in and port down and channel and prayge.

Getting this is very easy with a Demon Hunter, as well! Just switch to Vengeance spec, take Last Resort, and then dive in. You'll have more than enough time to get the mount.

I was able to do this solo as a rogue with crimson vial, the natural cheat death, plus the 8piece set of Forbidden Reach gear which gives a cheat death with eight seconds of damage immunity

So...

You're going after this mount? It's very easy - the entire process of getting it took about 10 minutes for ME (results may vary).

First things first:

Get your Empty Magma Shell from the Lavaslurpers at the lava river at: 22.4 67.7 (this is one point of the river only - it stretches quite a ways up and down the map). The river is located on the very left-hand side of the Waking Shores map. You will see a very thin line of red - right before a vast expanse of mountains. That's where the Lavaslurpers are.

I got my Empty Magma Shell in only 2 kills (NOTE: It is NOT Soulbound. So you can get a bunch for your friends and Guildies or maybe even the AH).

Now that you have the item - you're going to go across the ENTIRE map to coords: 70 25 (this is on the edge of the pool). It's a big, gurgling lava pool. It's directly under the words:
SCALECRACKER KEEP

If you look closely - you will see a tiny "Empowered Snail" (yellow print) right in the middle of the gurgling lava. Cast ASPECT OF THE TURTLE and dive. As of THIS post, date and time - it still works flawlessly. You will take NO DAMAGE at all, even when it wears off. (big thanks to Purplevalkyr for the post above giving this information). The entire cast only lasts about 15 seconds. Now one thing to note - you WILL NOT get an inventory item so don't be confused when you don't see it in your bags. It instantly shows up in your Mount Collection list (do a search for MAGMA).

As a feral druid who's never touched a healing class in my life, I struggled. But I specced into Resto, spammed tree of life, various HOTs and a couple damage reduction spells and managed to survive long enough to grab it solo! Definitely possible still to do without a healer, especially if you're better than me at healing specs

Just soloed with my Daenei Fury Warrior.

Warning: Be ready to die!

1- Get pre-req from most upvoted post
2- Have an Onyx Annulet with Cold Frost Stone, or Indomitable Earth Stone, or both (if you have both you might get lucky and not die)
3- Have Enraged Regeneration and Gift of the Naaru out of cooldown
4- Use Heroic Leap to jump right on top of it
5- As you swim down use Enraged Regeneration to reduce damage and pop Gift of the Naaru
6- Shift click on it
7- Wait for happy death

I did this as a demo lock, and was able to do it fairly easily -- I took Abyss Walker, Profane Bargain, Ichor of Devils, and Strength of Will in the class tree, and made sure my Felguard was summoned and at full health.

I set my circle right to the edge of the rock so I could make it out in time, and then set a gate from the edge down to the bottom -- with Abyss Walker, taking gate reduces damage by 4% for 10 seconds, which doesn't seem like a lot but is helpful in the long run. I made sure I was at full health, popped Unending Resolve and Dark Pact, immediately hit the gate, and began channeling. I was at about 30% when I finished the channel, and hit my teleport to get back to the surface.

If you're having trouble, a vers flask might help, as the extra vers will improve your Soul Leech while your Felguard is still alive.

Just got this on my 69 BM hunter. I had a Spirit Beast (Hati) act as my healer. I /tar the Empowered Snail, used Aspect of the Turtle, and swam straight for it. After the shield went down, I had Hati start to heal me and he healed me through the rest of the cast. Unfortunately, he didn't survive the lava and neither did I because I kept falling off of the rock while trying to escape but I got my snail! It might take a few tries as you figure out the timing but when you do, Magmashell is yours! Make sure you give Hati a scratch behind the ear for his troubles!

Not sure if this was a bug and I just got lucky, but (as a level 61 Blood DK) I prepared every defensive spell, changed my talents for maximum damage reduction, cast Anti-Magic Shell, jumped into the lava, swam down to the snail, clicked it, and... took no damage at all.

I think AMS prevented the lava damage from being applied in the first place, and it wasn't re-applied down there. All that time preparing other talents was wasted.

I did take damage again when I came to the surface, but all the time I was submerged in lava (even long after AMS had expired) I took no damage at all.

Cast: Obsidian Scales and Renewing Blaze, jump into lava and click shell.

Lava damage is percent-based. As a ret, I took off all my gear except for two versatility trinkets for the little extra damage reduction. I would've included bubble in these steps, but it was off cooldown from a prior attempt. This is just the attempt that worked for me solo.

Talents:
First, ensure Consecration is not replaced with the Consecrated Blade or Divine Hammer talents (currently row 6, 4th spot, ret tree)
Then, choose Guided Prayer (4th row, center, ret tree)
Finally, take Golden Path and Seal of Mercy (6th and 7th rows, far left, paladin tree)

Steps:
1) Swim down
2) Lay on Hands to start full when in position
3) Shield of Vengeance, Divine Protection, Consecration
4) Click Snail

I got the mount about 3 lava ticks before death.

I was able to pull this off as a 70 Draenei Fury Warrior (iLvl 418) without any special tricks or equipment. Use Defensive Stance and switch your 4th row Dragonriding skill to Dragonrider's Compassion. I kept my gear on. Removing it made me die faster.

1. Fly straight up above the lava pool. I did Surge Forward x2 so I had 10 stacks of Compassion by the time I hit the pool.
2. Dive into the middle of the swirl. I couldn't see the snail from above, but it will be there within reach at the bottom.
5. Dismount on contact with the lava and keep diving down.
6. Enraged Regeneration
7. Bitter Immunity
8. Spell Reflection (I don't even know if this helped, but why not.)
9. Gift of the Naaru
10. Click snail.

If you aren't Draenei, you may want to pop a potion before clicking the snail. The extra bit of healing is what made the difference for me. It took me about 10 tries.

I found, as a hunter, that if you use Aspect of the turtle before going in, you wont take any damage while you are channeling the snail.

Don't see any priest in the comments, so here we go.

Just did it in Discipline, Holy might have much better tools (such as better HoTs) but I haven't even opened the spec since Shadowlands so I can't say.

Anyway, kinda took everything I found to mitigate/heal, but here's what I did.

On the Priest side, I made sure to have Translucent Image for an extra 10% damage reduction and Angelic Bulwark (it procs). Spell Warding on the fourth row might also help but I don't know if lava counts as magical damage for that.
On the Discipline side, I took Pain Transformation to top up my health when casting Pain Suppression, Power Word: Barrier, Rapture, Lenience and Aegis of Wrath.

Now, I cast Renew, Rapture and Fade then dove into the lava, cast Power Word; Barrier once I reached the snail and then Pain Suppression (might wanna recast Renew as well, I did not but it might help). Started channelling and I got through with one lava tick to spare!

Demon hunter solo. Pick talents:

- Last Restor
- Soul barrier

Cast barrier, jump into the lava, start casting.
Instead of dying at aroudn 30% you will hit last resort which should be enough for the cast to finish.

I died when diving out but got the mount

I would like to ask fellow rogues to help test something; Before I jumped into the lava I used evasion and feint, then I used sprint and right before I hit the lava I used Cloak of shadows however after all abilities ended I didn't take any damage at all while casting. I'm wondering if spamming abilities caused the game to bug.

Keep in mind that the lava does %max HP damage, so if you shield yourself with your gear, get naked then get into the lava, your shield will have more than enough HP to fully protect you until it expires.
