Just got the pet on 11th kill of the day from the regular epic lootbox without any wickermen's curse.

The drop rate seems extremely low, i have run 40 chars out of 60 ( each try was under the effect of 4 curses ) and the only new thing I've dropped so far is the La Chiave Scarlatta.

Maybe the new rewards work like the previous box event where you have more chances on the first try of the day.

Edit : 60/60 chars done nothing dropped.

Day 2 : 120 try still nothing
Day 3 : 180 try still nothing

Edit 2 : I'm tired of spending so much time for nothing, I decided to only do 20 characters a day.

Day 4 : 1st try of the day gived me the manuscript. I got nothing else after 19 try.
Day 5 : 30 more try still no arfus :/
Day 6 : 20 more try still no arfus :/
Day 7 : 40 more try still no arfus :/
Day 8 : 60 more try still no arfus :/
Day 9 : 40 more try still no arfus :/

Day One: 12 kills with level 60+ characters who can get the epic loot pumpkin. Zero Arfus :( Don't think he drops from the rare pumpkins :(
Day Two: 12 kills, 6 with curses and 6 without (failed due to poor healers). Zero Arfus for me

Honestly wondering why TF I am still playing as this game is supposed to be fun and yet this is very definitely not even resembling fun. If I don't get it this year, I'm not going to bother doing this next year (if I still bother playing at all given Blizzard's f*** ups like this event) as spending 4-5 hours every night doing this $%^& is the epitome of not fun

I can confirm I got Arfus literally on my first try today. Then I got it again on a 3rd char. No curses or whatever. It simply drops.

I ran the Hallow's End Holiday Dungeon on my alt army and I looted a total of 48x Zucca Ripiena on the Day 1 of the event. "All runs were done in hard mode." Haven't seen the manuscript Velocidraco del Vento: Armatura della Veglia delle Ombre or the pet Arfus drop a single time in all of these runs.

I've been told if you run a holiday dungeon like this with two accounts at the same time, they both count as first daily attempt, but I don't know if this is actually confirmed.

OK so had Arfus drop on my 1st run yesterday and had him drop again on my 1st run today. Offered to trade him to someone in the group yet I can not trade him to anyone else in the group or put him in a cage. Feels bad to just vendor him when other people want him so bad

Curses Totems do not seem to matter. I ran this 42 times so far with and with them active and still for not seen the pet drop.

I looted him today from a loot-filled pumpkin on a lvl 60 character without the curses which was my 15ish attempt of the day. Someone else from my guild also got this goodest of boys after a dozen attempts.
Dropchances on the first attempt of the day might be higher but it can still drop after! Don't give up

I looted mine on my first kill of the third day of the event with all curses applied. It was my 38th attempt. I also received the Velocidraco del Vento: Armatura della Veglia delle Ombre in the same Zucca Ripiena. I looted a second arfus on the first kill of the day on the eight day of the event with no curses applied. You cannot learn a second version of the pet. Not sure why I'm downvoted, just trying to provide additional data points while the top comment is just complaining lol.

Does anyone know if curses add to the drop chance beyond the first kill of the day? I have over 70 attempts so far, most with curses and no luck as yet and not sure if there is any point beyond the extra chance for the first kill of the day?

I can report that you DO have continual chances to get the rewards by doing hardmode, even on on Alts. I didn't get anything on the first two attempts, but on the third I got Arfus, 15 attempts later (yeah no life) I received the Velocidrake Manuscript. The question now is, "will the new way be acceptable to the majority, and was this just crazy luck that can't be replicated for most players?" No ides, but what I can say is... "MORE SOLO CONTENT BLIZZ; PLEASE?"

Received on roughly my 25th attempt of today after cycling through lots of levels 60s or higher each day of the event so far - I did use the curses, but unsure if that affects the drop chance for this one. Good luck, and keep trying!

I just wanted to leave a big f you here for blizzard for still not being able to design fun holiday events in 2023 and instead forcing bs like this pet on players.

Meanwhile some random player walks in and gets the pet first try. Why is it so freaking damn hard to just put the god damn pet on a vendor or add a bad luck protection or anything. I wouldn't be mad if this wasn't a time limited event.

Just another dissapointment.

Feel free to downvote but running this stupid dungeon with 50+ characters a day without getting the pet on a time limited event is not fun.

Oh wow, this blew up over night. I made this comment out of pure frustration yesterday after in ran the dungeon with another 40+ characters and got nothing out of it. Glad i am not the only one seeing it this way. The comment might sound rude the day after but for real, why can't they get it finally right. Like others mentioned they already realized the problem and still they doubled down own bad rng with this new pet i simply cannot understand it.

"RNG is part of the game, these type of grinds are fun and worth doing, giving it all easily is opposite what a MMORPG stands for, stop wanting it all easy..."

My guy, i have nearly 44.000 achievement points in this game & 97 % in ATT. Don't lecture me on "easy grinds". That is not the problem for me here. The problem is, that it is a time limited event and it forces me to run the dungeon every day with x characters for the pet before the event is over and the pet will be gone. I would like to do other things in the game. Things i actually enjoy. But i can't because i have to farm this pet and hope for RNG gods that i will get it. And this does not feel good and it is not fun.

I am ok with rare things or hard grinds. But low drop RNG should not be a thing on time limited events period.

EDIT 2:

I finally got it today after about 130 attempts and therefore my pain ends for now. Got it on my warlock with no curses up, was the 6th attempt today.

Am I happy to finally get the pet? Well... it's more like I'm happy not to continue playing this dungeon every day with 50+ characters. Of course it is a cool pet, of course i'm glad to finally have it. But that's not the point. The journey to get this pet simply is not fun and there are plenty of suggestions on how to do it better. I am somewhat "lucky" now getting it after "only" 130 attempts. But others are not so lucky or do not even have the time to spam this dungeon on 50+ characters and this sucks. And i could have been one of those players. And I have deep compassion for everyone who hasn't gotten it yet or won't get it.

The holiday events in wow should be all about fun. But systems like this create this toxic gaming atmosphere that leaves many players angry and frustrated. Just like it happened to me. And i don't think it has to be that way. But this is on blizzard to decide. They need to do a better job with it. And therefore my criticism remains unchanged even though I have now received the pet.

Looted on my 19th alt of the day, 4th day of the event. I was making 37 attempts per day (all my 60+ characters) so 130 attempts total. Never put up curses except for the first attempt for the achievement.

Absolute joke of an acquisition method. Textbook case of how to not respect your players time. This could have simply been made the reward for the new quest line.

Probably just a coincidence, but: after I logged in my 3rd alt for the day and before I queued for a run today, I realized that I hadn't opened the Loot Filled Pumpkin from yesterday, so I opened it, and it contained Arfus.

Today's first run was with all 4 curses, but yesterday's wasn't.

I can honestly confirm that I got the pet Arfus on my newly dinged level 60 resto shamaan just now, with NO Curses active!

Been doing HH for a few days now, on and off with curses up and no curses up and when I saw some one wrote that they got the pet with NO curse active, I tried it on my newly level 60 with bad gear and bam there it dropped.

So be patient and you pet collectors will get it soon too like me

Blizzard, you know full well the difference between Grinding and Pure Luck! Why do you keep doing this to us during time-limited events? You want us to grind for two weeks only to not get lucky? Well that sucks! Running Headless Horseman a million times is hard work, agreed, but it’s not the same as grinding 100 exalted reputations or running around in Vanilla to level 40 to finally get a slow mount that costs so much gold you can't even afford it when you get there. Remember those days Blizzard? You nerfed that didn’t you?

When I get this pet, and yes I will get it someday, I’m not going to feel like I’ve achieved something. I will have finally gotten lucky just like I did after the 13 years it took me to get The Horseman’s Reins. But what’s the point? I’m still going to pay my monthly subscription to do the million other things I want to do. And as much as I am happy to see other players get lucky, I secretly resent them for it just like I feel when I see someone on that #!&*% Love Rocket. Stop setting us up to fail. Remember your own tip, “A little kindness goes a long way.” How about you guys show a little kindness to players who are willing to do whatever it takes to get this pet during this year’s event instead of creating a toxic environment you want us to all play nicely in. If you want to make us feel like we’ve accomplished something, make getting Arfus a fun grind, not luck!

Your creative devs used up all of their collective imagination with DF on what some consider to be the greatest expac since Lich King? Ironic that Arfus is a nod to that amazing moment in Wow history. Well as Mojache said in Jimmy, The World of Warcraft Story, “You’re kinda lazy Blizzard.” You guys come up with this awesome pet and then just stick him a Loot-Filled Pumpkin along with everything else the RNG gods may or may not ever give us! Stop it! Just stop it.

Here’s an idea! Why don’t you create a quest something like this. “Adventurer! Arfus, The Lick King has wondered off following his ghostly nose to one of the Candy Buckets somewhere in Azeroth. He could be anywhere. Please help us find him and bring him home.” And then this Adventurer goes trick-or-treating all across every expansion and after they've collected every single handful of treats they find Arfus. And that's just one idea. Come on Blizzard, use those great big creative brains of yours and make this holiday fun! You can do it! It’ll make you feel good about yourselves and we will all truly love you for it.

EDIT:
The really scary thing about what you've done with Hallow's End is the precedent it sets for all the other holidays. Look at the traction these comments have gained. Don't even think about doing this to Feast of Winter Veil. If you torture us again like this during what's supposed to be the happiest holiday of all, we're all going to turn into Grinches with our hearts shrinking three sizes too small, bitter and miserable. Don't let that happen! It's fine if you want to make us work for it but please give us something exciting to look forward to that we can actually get during the event!

just posting, on the 4th day of running Headless horseman dungeons, running my only 12 eligible toons (lvls 60-70), I finally collected Arfus from the Zucca Ripiena with -no- curses activated and on my last toon for the day, making it a total of 48 attempts. Keep going <3

I'd like to add a quick note; I agree with most folks here, this is a bunch of bs. At the very least make it available through the vendor considering this is time sensitive. Like the time rift vendors, you can either farm it or if you just want to give up, you just have the worst luck, buy it from the vendors. This is ridiculous having the need to farm an army of alts to try and collect such a cutie and if no luck this year? gotta wait for next year. </3

This design is horrendous and such a missed opportunity. Hard mode in a premade that was difficult and awarded Arfus for clearing would have been pretty cool. A special questline for a fun holiday event would have also been neat. Could have at the very least made it be purchasable with the tricky treats. Instead it's just a frustrating experience for everyone that doesn't highroll.

It's a disappointment for people that wanted a challenge.
It's stress the most casual players don't want that for a holiday event
It's an annoying grind that no one wants.

At this rate, Blizzard could have put this on the in game shop, probably gotten less back lash and made some money.

Being trying 6 days with 13~~ characters, yesterday I obtained the dragonriding customization on my 6th attempt. Today I got Arfus on my second try, all of them with 4 curses. I also try to get 0 debuffs from the curses (not getting hit by avoidable mechanics) but I doubt it has any effect. TLDR: This can be obtaind on tries other than your 1st try of the day

Ion: How can we get people re-engage with our garbage and terribly designed holiday dungeons?
Peon 1: Hmmm, maybe give them an obnoxious hard mode because apparently we need garbage m+ mechanics in the content that people who deliberately avoid m+ do?
Peon 2: What about another $%^&house rare item drop to force all the people who got the mount to come back to do a dungeon they were so happy never stepping foot in ever again?
Peon 3: Maybe another stupid dragon riding customization that no one will ever use with the same drop rate as the mount too even though it's no where near as valuable?
Peon 4: Errr....what if we just put all that stuff on a vendor so people can have something to work towards. Especially for people with really bad RNG so they don't feel terribad about not getting the pet or mount customization despite running the dungeon every day on hard mode with 500 alts?

Blizzard could've just made this cageable or put it on a vendor for currency so you can atleast grind for it. As a serious pet collector it's really obnoxious having to run this on all my alts every single day. Not to mention that you can't even get the epic loot filled pumpkin if you are below level 60, so that further limits the number of alts I can use. Cringe design, honestly.

Edit: I do agree that he needs to be available from the vendor though. I would have liked having that option available :/

All this people dosnt want to be unique, they dont want to put in the work and farm and hope to be lucky, so why dont blizzard just give everyone everything... mounts, glad mounts, glad titles, make everyone the same, no one shall be unique, EVERYONE SHALL HAVE EVERYTHING, THERE SHOULD BE NO DROP RATE, 100% DROP RATE, WORLD FIRST MYTHIC RATING ? this is mostly what I see from people, just complain that they dont have the mindset to keep going, I love that things have a really low drop chance, makes me feel more unique for haveing some thing even if I got lucky, I dont have glad, but I like to see unique people.

I just want to confirm that even AFTER you got Arfus already, it could still drop from the next bag again.

I got Arfus on my first try yesterday, a range DPS (hunter) with all curses accepted. Before that try, I had about 45 kills with all curses or no curses, all failed.

Today, I did one try, same hunter, all cursess accepted, and I found Arfus plus the manuscript in the same bag.

My advice is to use a range with full curses on your first try of the day (much easier with full curses on with a range DPS) and dont die.

Finally dropped well over 300 kills. Many runs with all 4 curses but the run it dropped on was one with no curses (cos was healing.)
What a joke, right now there is no excitement or happiness in the drop even. I just actually feel frustrated that this kind of bs keeps making in to the game despite everyone (and a even a dev themselves) admit this isn't fun or good gameplay. I just feel relieved this hell is over. And before anyone says "but you don't have to run it" well I do because I am a pet collector and have worked damn hard at maintaining my pet collection, if i "don't have to run it" then i don't even have to play WoW or log in anymore, and TBH if blizzard keep up with this kind of garbage for holiday items then yeh that might be what ultimately happens.... Best of luck to everyone else going for him <3

In an insane stroke of luck, I managed to loot both Arfus and Redini del Cavaliere Senza Testa in one Zucca Ripiena. So I can confirm that it is possible for both to drop at once.

I am exceedingly frustrated with the item and drop rarity . I don't have many alts and only 4 are high enough to be eligible. Running 4x a day (all in hardmode) has yielded no Arfus (although I did get the manuscript and key on the first day).
Meanwhile my bf gets it on one of his alts running with me but of course blizzard is asshattery so nope, he cant trade it even though he was in the group with me and its also not cageable. I am a hardcore pet collector and with only a few days left now of the event I am not super hopeful. Meanwhile I continue to collect infinite blue broomsticks, useless masks and squashlings when it decides to drop anything at all. Why BLIZZARD WHY? Do you hate your players that much? **edit** 10/31/23 RAN ALL ELIGIBLE CHARACTERS EVERY SINGLE DAY, NO ARFUS

Got it after 100+ trys, most of those with 4 curses but i got it on the try where i failed the curses (lost the debuff on this mindless grind) if it helps anyone.
Still missing the mount at probably 1500+ trys so whatever... but to add another low rng drop to this event is just ridiculous at this point

Don't nerf Arfus to satisfy the desire for some to have every item in the game the moment it is released, it's not anyone else's fault that folks feel compelled to level up 40 toons to roll dice for these things

Save some 'hard' for the rest of us to strive towards and stop asking Blizz to devalue the things that we spent time to achieve.

I spent over 10 years wishing and trying to obtain Modello: Cilindro d'Alta Società, once one of the rarest items in the game. So rare that it was rumored to not even exist. I FINALLY get it and what happens? Blizz drastically increases its drop rate to make it 'more accessible.' When a 2nd one dropped for me it wasn't awesome, it was seriously depressing. I realized it was just another tailoring pattern now and there was nothing 'special' about it anymore.

This happens over and over, I can only imagine how deflated all the folks with rare Cata mounts felt when everyone got them. Stop complaining at Blizz to hand things to you. It ruins parts of the game.

There are many different vocalizations when you click him, alternating between howls and barks with spooky reverb. He naps by your side when you stationary and has a ghastly blue emanation wafting from his back

Hey all, finally I'm back to Wowhead!
So, let's make some summary:
70 lvl toons - 15.
60 lvl toons - 8
23 tries x 8 day and 184 tries for that moment. With x4 curses alwasys, failed curses 7 times(DD came in heal spec. and didn't heal)
NO PET, NO MANUSCRIPT. Meanwhile my guildmate got TWO ARFUS (on day 2 and 6) So, when a lot of players suffer with bad rng, some people get 2 pets and delete one. Bravo, Blizzard.
I don't even know how to react, many good fellas already wrote their frustrations and anger, and I am totally agree with them all.
When I farmed brewfest I got manuscript on last day, from 21st of my toon but I don't know whats gonna be now. So it's 3:32 a.m now and I have to finish farm on 4 my alts.

Finally got Arfus after doing the event every day on 4 toons. Not much by the looks of many people in the comments but did it after a key with a full group of friends. Guess they gave me the good luck protection I needed. Now, I just have to keep running until I hopefully get the saddle.

all this stuff is concerning for their plans to revamp holidays. the reins being rare is one thing, it's the reins, you hope to get it but it's easier to expect not to. but now they're adding dragon armor and a dog and it seems like to be just a bit less rare than the reins? that's not a fun time sink. is this supposed to be how they refresh holidays?

I looted mine on my first kill of the third day of the event with all curses applied. It was my 38th attempt. I also received the Velocidraco del Vento: Armatura della Veglia delle Ombre in the same Zucca Ripiena. I looted a second Arfus on the first kill of the day on the eight day of the event with no curses applied. You cannot learn more than one of the pet or trade it to another player. I just wanted to add a few additional data points if it helps anyone. I hope there will be some bad luck protection for those still searching for their good boy. Best of luck!

Edit: After many many kills I tested 2 of my alts I never ran the eventdungeon and bam, got it. And this was watching John Wick 3.
Finally we found him and took him away from Blizzard. He is mine.

Got it today on my 110th try, it was the 17th try of the day and I had no curses up, I decided to try today after the first three tries today to do a full run of all my other alts with no curses up since so many are commenting they got it with no curses up and now I have to, it's making me wonder about how this drop thing works.

I was more relieved I can now stop then anything else which really isn't a great feeling, this should have been the reward for the end of the new questline instead that would have been a much better use and made people happy about him instead of relieved when they are done...

Oh boy i can actually trigger some people: Cant be that hard to get - second time i queued with my Warrior today since the event is live, third try overall and i get the Doggo, Key and broom. I was honestly thinking it was activating all 4 debuffs, which is surprisingly easy just incase people are afraid of turning them on.

Today on the 10th day of the halloween event i saw the achivement "the lick king" the very first time pop up, with 5 man in 10 days, sure not everyone opens the pumpkin directly but most do, imho the drop chance is lower than the dragon armor. way too low. I pray blizz puts him on the npc next year.

37 runs over 10 days its taken me to get everything - Completed the boss four times each day using four characters all with the curses activated.

First run I got the drake manuscript, fifth run I got the mount and the scarlet key and the thirty-seventh gave me the pet.

Never mind the previous hundreds of runs for just the mount over the years with no success, but lets not talk about that.

Just to add REAL information:

WHEN this drops, you obtain the The Lick King achievement.
Arfus appears with a ghostly puppy yip.
Clicking on him yields an enthusiastic bark.
When you've been standing around awhile, Arfus will take a puppy nap.
He has a slightly... mischievous look on his face. (Like Arfus is not always a good boy)
This pet is only one per account, and is not tradeable. (It cannot be sold on the Auction House)
Hovering your mouse over him, the pop-up box says, "There must always be a Lick King."

I'll be very curious to see if Arfus has any interesting responses to certain emotes, other pets, or circumstances. What happens when you run Icecrown Citadel with him?

EDIT: Thus far, Arfus hasn't done anything in ICC. He decided to take a nap when I started the Lich King fight. *shrug*

· What I am REALLY struggling with is the entitled mindset, leading to a VICTIM mindset of some people (when it hasn't YET dropped), of so many players. One of the most highly "liked" comments here is someone complaining that Blizzard is "forcing" them to run this on multiple alts.

This is a new rare item in the game. Be happy that Blizzard is adding new content. Be happy that Blizzard is renovating this old dungeon. (That's what we want... RIGHT?) Maybe we can talk about alternate means of obtaining things in game, or different drop rates. But all of this weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth is a bit... extra.

Go outside and touch grass. Talk to your parents and grandparents about how difficult their lives have been. Gain a little perspective. Consider studying Zen or some other philosophy. This pet will eventually drop. Your life is literally not any worse off in November if you don't have this pet. As much as some of you complain you're being tortured, you probably need to sit down and realize: YOU'RE TORTURING YOURSELVES. Is this how you approach things at your real life job? Or your family life? Relationships? And what is the next thing which you will TORTURE YOURSELF about? Don't you realize you are the architects of your own misery?

This pet WILL drop eventually. It doesn't ruin my life if it doesn't.

EDIT: And whattya know? He dropped after running on multiple alts for several days. I probably saw a dozen other people get Arfus before myself. Them getting lucky was NOT an attack upon myself, my life or my happiness. I had to run Icecrown Citadel for about a decade before I finally got Invincible's Reins. (And yes, I wanted that mount SOOO BAD. Ever since I was raiding ICC as progression content.)

There should be an option if not to straight-up buy the pet with currency (Tricky Treats) to at least "buy" him by trading in the other rewards... I have so many sinister squashlings that are worthless, and rings that I can't even vendor for a copper, that it's not even funny. /cries.

Really have enjoyed the last week and a half of being able to play WoW the way I wanted to instead of sitting in endless DPS queues for the Horseman. Oh, wait...

I received Arfus on Day 7. It was my 7th attempt. Only on my main. Hard mode each time.

I didn't want to grind with my other alts, so just stuck with my main once per day for seven days. I was prepared to just give up and wait til next year.

My dog died last year, so I was so hoping to get him this season in tribute of my old boy. When he was in my loot, I felt like it was my old dog saying: "Yes, I'll join you on your journey in Azeroth. I'll forever be by your side." So, means a lot for me to get him.

I've been doing this daily on 7 characters, I haven't seen the pet or drake armor, usually just tricky treats & a mask.
I always take on all 4 curses, but I noticed the curse that makes you run to the mark to end it, if you don't make it, you lose the buff. I got stunned halfway & saw it drop off.
Also have had it drop off if I get too far away, like when you have to spread out. Not sure if the latter is a bug or not.

(sorry if this is a dumb mention, I don't get a lot of time to play anymore & maybe I missed the heads up?)

I've been doing the Headless Horseman on 14 toons per day trying to get Arfus, and he finally dropped for me today. It took 134 Headless Horseman kills, and I got him on my 9th toon of the day with all curses active.

As a pet collector this whole thing was really stressful for me, because with Hallow's End finishing soon, it was looking like I wouldn't get the pet this year. This pet should have been on the Hallow's End pet vendor to buy with Tricky Treats, just like the Feline Familiar and other pets they added to the event over the years.

213 total attempts, he finally dropped for me tonight. It was not my first kill of the day, more like my 15th.

I was running about 20 alts every day, all with full curses. The past couple days after reading some comments here I decided to let up a little and only do the first run of the day with curses, my alts just ran on normal mode. I really can't say if there's a correlation there but I suspect Arfus might not be affected by the "curse luck", so it wasn't worth the extra effort, I could be wrong though.

This was an anxious grind with the deadline looming and I hope anyone who is still trying has some luck before the end.

I want to address Shaila1 comment. Guess what Shaila1, you do not have to run that dungeon. This is a game and you can choose to do what you find fun. If collecting pets is fun for you, then you should not mind the run. I have been playing this game for longer than I would like to admit however that being said, I have run the Headless Horseman event every year and still do not have that mount. And still, I run the dungeon. I run it because I am a collector. I like collecting mounts, pets, and achievement points. I have 14,610 achievement points mostly from collecting. WoW is a game, and in-game you can choose how you want to play and right now you are choosing to run Headless Horseman every day on all of your toons trying to collect a pet. That is a choice plain and simple. The RNG is just that Random. Random is done, chosen, etc. without someone deciding in advance what is going to happen, or without any regular pattern. I am always baffled by people getting so upset about a choice they made to do something but are mad about the outcome. Come on folks RNG is RNG. When you choose to play, you really can't complain about the RNG because you made a conscience choice to play. Happy Hunting.

big pet collector, this is one of those I really would love to have. But after all days now have passed, I now only have 1 day left to get this pet in.
Used curses on all toons I can have more than 15 tries a day, yet still missing out on this cutiepie. It feels like the wicker curses actually have no impact at all on your loot.

Pet collecting is my "thing". It's the one thing in this game that I take very VERY seriously. I will do whatever it takes to collect those pets and I'm no stranger to mindless grinds. But this, this is next level awful. I would happily run this on all my alts every single day until I got the pet but, no, Blizzard decide to put this pet on a holiday boss. A limited time holiday boss. I'm beyond frustrated. The one thing I still love doing in this game and I can't even grind to get it. Thanks for nothing Blizzard.

Finally i got him on day 14 on my first try of the day without any curses. This was my first day i decided to do it without the HM as so many ppl here said the got him without curses.

I farmed him 20 character per day, so i can tell it is horrible to farm it. Blizzards new way "First Try of day higher chance" is the worst thing they could do.

I thought it had to be the same chance per toon or you only have 1 chance a day per account and then no chnace anymore for this day so noone get forced to farm it every day with plenty of toons and a nearly zero chance.

Every single day of the event, with 12 characters (60+) on hardmode (4 curses), NOTHING. I even had the mount faster, and the drake thing yesterday.. Tomorrow morning last chance, but i doubt it.
Got tons of rings, swords, helmets, brooms and pumpkin pets, but this was just awful

150+ attempts and no Arfus this year. I gave up on the hardmode attempts 2 days before event end. It was simply too annoying to deal with when it didn't seem to make a bit of difference at all in luck chance. I got the key and manuscript early on, but Arfus was what I really wanted. What a let down of an event. I'm glad I didn't bother with Brewfest. I don't think I could have made it through 2 horribly grindy events back to back.

WTF is this actual $%^&? 168 attempts so far with only 1 more day left. No pet, no manuscript but a crap load of 1h swords and helms mainly on alts that can't even use them. Things like this pet should never be up to RNG. Even putting on vendor for a high cost would make sense but Blizz again not thinking logically.

On top of all the other frustration felt by many with the poor design of an extremely low droprate pet that a lot of people want, I also find it a kick in the gut when you run with people who get duplicates of this item, and can't do anything but delete or sell it. I got Arfus on the second attempt of the very first night! It really made my night and I felt very happy and fortunate to have gotten him! No curses at all, had no idea they were even a thing. When I got it I checked this page and it said the drop rate was .8% - Now it is 1.1% it seems. I submitted a screenshot I had shared to my guildies the day of! There may be a timestamp somewhere but I do not see it. I will post a screenshot of my "lick king" achievement instead since that has a date!

Seeing as the droprate of both the Everlasting Horn of Lavaswimming and Molten Lava Pack was bugged, it could potentially be possible that the droprate for Arfus is bugged as well.

Its honestly complete ridiculous that something like this can happen, imagine farming for something for weeks only to realise it wasnt possible to get the drop in the first place. I am baffled that something like a simple item drop can be bugged and it has happened, as far as I know, twice so far.

Reason Im saying this is because I have multiple reports of people getting Arfus very fast that arent collectors but then again my sample size is small, so who really knows.

I did miss the first few days but 266 attempts across 29 characters, and still no Arfus. Tried with and without curses. I've seen him drop about 4 times in all of those attempts. Haven't seen the mount or script drop whatsoever. I leveled almost all of my characters on my account to 60 just for more attempts, yet nothing. This drop chance is horrid. I'm a moderate collector on this game, it's what I find most enjoyable and an adorable pet like this alongside the achievement "The Lick King" made me really want this pet. It breaks my heart that I'll have to wait a whole year for a chance at him again. Not all of my characters were 60+ at first, but with timewalking it allowed me to level most of my characters to the needed level of 60, that's why my attempt and character ratio doesn't match up.

EDIT: After 277 attempts, on the very last day at 12PM 11/01, after reset (10am for me) I was still able to do this dungeon and I have acquired the mighty Arfus. I don't know if today was a bonus day or what but I'm so thankful for the extra chance. I got him on a level 60 with no curses up.

The comments for this pet are a great lesson of why nothing matters in wow anymore and none of you should care that bad for these collectables. So many people crying about a seasonal boss with a low drop rate mount. The only reason the horseman mount, brewfest kodo, love rocket, etc were cool in the first place was because you just might not get it this season. That's okay you didn't get it.

People trying to force rng and have every collectable are unhealthy and obsessive. I didn't get it after trying on my 5 characters everyday and that is the reason Arfus is a cool pet. Because when someone else has it I will think of next season. No mount, pet, toy, transmog, anything is worth making 50 characters and acting like a ghost dog in wow is that big of a deal.

I ran the headless horseman on all 20 of my characters every day this year with full debuffs. and didn't see the pet. I would have been happy just to see the mount since I've been farming that every year since 09. But that's just my luck, at least invincible finally dropped for me this year after over a 1000 icc runs lol.

yes a lot of others did run this event more than i did; i personally feel that we should have all got it; also should have been either a free drop from HH or from the pet vendor.
my bestie did get it after 4 runs as well as lots of others who are not as heavy collectors as i am; (1683 unique pets) and counting.
really feeling like this is another version of
gratz on all those that did get and i hope and wish that everyone who did not get it this year, gets it next year. gl tc hh

Ya know .. during the same time this Hallow's End event was going on, Call of Duty had their own Halloween event. It was massively fun with Halloween themed maps and whatnot. The rewards just for logging in during the event for 10 consecutive days gave you small but FUN rewards, from charms, stickers, XP boosts and more. On the 10th and final day you would get the “Nightmare Sweats” Bryson 800 Shotgun Weapon Blueprint. You knew exactly what you were getting and worked your way towards it. It was FUN.

This World of Warcraft Hallow's End event was NOT fun. People come home from work or school and just want to kick back, play some games and have fun. Spending hours on multiple toons per day for 14 days grinding the same event over and over was NOT fun at all period. And at the end of the 14 day dungeon run, I was not rewarded. At this point I am burned out and I'm gonna take a break from WoW. Gonna go play some other games that are actually fun to play and rewarding.

Can only hope that Arfus will be added to the Trading Post in the future. I don't even care about the achievement.

Blizz should have made Arfus a white whale ... I have a disgusting amount of toons and ran this dungeon a disgusting amount of times and still no puppy :(

And for the love of wow's green jeebus why oh why did they have to change the dungeon? If it ain't broke Blizz ... don't fix it! I also had trouble killing the witch/Hag in Val'sharah on poorly geared alts, so I didn't get to finish off my smashing hat collection. Overall this Hallow's End has left me feeling sick to my stomach - and not from the amount of sweets I ate :(

At least 20 to more than 50 characters are trying every day, still no Arfus.
Friends who are not collecting pets all got it, even three times. As a pet collector (1659 unique pets), it is really sad. After seeing other comments, I really suspected that there was a BUG.

Okay I know there has been a lot of commentary about this pet, and it's well deserved! The RNG on this little bugger seems very hit or miss. The blue post raises more questions than answers, naturally.

Friend #1 got it on attempt 1 of the holiday. Friend #2 got it in attempt 3 of the holiday. Me? Yeah, my experience was the miss. I tried everything... wickermen lit some attempts, and unlit on others. Looting boss first, opening pumpkin first. Tank, heal, dps. The frustration was real.

I can report that I got it on my 16th attempt of the day (attempt 112 total) which was the last toon of that day. Wickermen were lit for the attempt. Goodluck adventurers, I promise it does exist!

yeah i am still triggered by this lol. 6 alts every day and nothing. i collect pets pretty hardcore and didn't care about any other loot, including the mount,

I just came here to say I still feel salty about this pet. As a collector, it felt like a slap in the face, especially when WOTLK was a favorite of mine and I desperately wanted this little man.
40 characters a day, every day, and nothing. By the end, it was depressing to hear from friends they're deleting another copy of it and 'it drops so often'.

At least I don't care about the carpet as much, but it still stings.
