Hey, correct me if i'm wrong but I believe this staff has more gem slots available on the heroic verson than is being shown on this verson of the item, based on other souces of couse (http://db.mmo-champion.com/i/50725/dying-light/ and http://eu.wowarmory.com/item-info.xml?i=50725) both displaying it with an additional red socket.
This may just be me, but that extra socket could be the difference between taking the item or not, due to this could it be updated or changed, pretty please with a cherry on top? :3

This would be great for an arc mage.... if mages used staffs that is... if you have a main hand off hand set up of the same item lvl, it will out do this, so i personally wouldn't take this. would rather something like Rigormortis and Shadow Silk Spindle

Downrate this at will but I want to poison this with a OT post.

Is anybody else bothered by the fact that with 1 slot (2 if you want to count mh/oh) you can have more +spell power then an average full set of gear in TBC?

I dread Cataclysm and blue staffs that give +1200 spellpower.

Spirit isn't as good as mp5 for disc (by gobbledeg00k)

Gobbledeg00k = Fail. Dying Light is a lvl 277 drop in ICC. If a disc priest is raiding ICC in high lvl appropirate gear, spirit will almost always be a better mana regen stat over mp5. Look at the following calculator:

For an ICC geared disc priest (or any gear that provides a total int in the 1000s), spirit begins to dominate over mp5 for mana regeneration once the priest has over 1300 int assuming the disc priest in under "raid" conditions (eg: buffed with kings, always under a replenishment effect, always casting within the 5-second rule, etc.) and has talents in both mental strength (+15% int) and enlightenment (+6% spirit). Kings and the 5-second rule are highly influential in determining spirit vs mp5: (A) without kings, spirit won't dominate over mp5 until the priest has over 1700 int instead of just 1300 int. (B) If the disc priest can manage to stay out of the 5-second rule for just 5% of the time, spirit out-performs mp5 at only 1200 int.

@ Hadrial, Gear gets better. In Classic my warrior had around 6k buffed hp for MC, now we have tanks up over 60k. They need to spread gear quality to make sure people gear up to do content. Blizzard doesn't want people in Tier 2 to clear Icecrown 25 heroic. You Bubble hearth I'll stay and see cool new content/gear.

This is easily second BiS for resto druids. Tons of spirit, tons of spellpower and haste, can't go wrong with this staff...
