This is probably your best pre-naxx belt and even after you get into naxx it's damn near the top of the list.

This will be high on the list of items to purchase first with heroic badges.

This is a nice tanking belt, but it might be wise to hold off using your first 40 badges for this. There are a lot of alternatives available from heroic instances. It's comparable to Ancient Aligned Girdle from Anub'arak in Azjol-Nerub. It's only moderately better than Waistguard of the Risen Knight (Drak'Tharon Keep zone drop) or Skadi's Iron Belt (Skadi in Utgarde Pinnacle).

On the other hand, there are no epic neck pieces available from heroics, making Chained Military Gorget quite attractive.

As always, your mileage may vary depending on the specific drops you get.

I would not waste ANY badges on this belt!
AN takes about 20 minutes tops, you can run it daily. Could drop first time, could take a few days. I know it can be worse, it took me 15 runs to get my brcers in Old Kingdom. Either way its only 20 minutes out of your day per day to do it and chances are 4 runs you got it, 25% drop rate. AND your not wasting time when it does not drop, if your a paladin you could get the bracers in AN for healing offset and theres other drops and of course badges and rep.
unless you got so much dodge your getting slammed by diminishing returns(and I VERY highly doubt it, it would take a LOT of dodge and at this point in the game it wont happen) this belt is nowhere near the belt in AN.

Yep, thats 0.39% more avoidence, little les due to +4 DR but not much. 0.39% avoidence>>>>+4DR/+7Sta/+19STR
The 7 stamina is junk next to the avoid. That will give so little HP next to what the avoid will save, the STR will add such a small amount of SBV and AP again avoid wins, +4 DR if your that short and ned that.....Put a pure DR gem when you use a belt buckle.

Assuming you socket Waistguard of Living Iron with an Enduring Forest Emerald:

Waistguard of Living Iron has
+19 Str. +7 Stam. +4 Defense

versus an additional 0.35% avoidance from the Ancient Aligned girdle.

Personally, i'm not struggling for Defense or Threat at the moment.
My resolution then was to keep running Heroic Azjol-Nerub until the Stamina trinket dropped, and then either buy the badge belt or hope that the Heroic belt dropped before then.
Heroic belt and Essence of Gossamer dropped in the same run (mind you that it was my 10th run in heroic) so i'm staying with it.

For those people saying dont get this belt, get the one from AN. I totally disagree with you, AN is one of the hardest instances, and not something you'd want to farm upon hitting level 80. Also this belt is considerable better then the AN one.

The point of those people is, that there's better things to spend your first badges on, like the Neck and the two T7 pieces (if you don't raid, have bad luck with drops, or whatever). And they have a point there. No doubt this thing is better than Ancient Aligned Girdle, but only by a small margin.

Edit: Oh, and Azjol-Nerub, is definately not hard from a tank PoV. The mobs and bosses don't hit very hard and the dangerous damage is poison damage anyway. AN just requires good DPS (yeah, I know most DPS suck, just be picky).

Does anyone know if adding a socket to this belt and putting a +24 stamina socket will activate the socket bonus?
I saw a pally wearing this belt with the same setup that I'm asking about, but his armory doesn't show the socket bonus activated. He had a green socket and a blue one on this belt. I plan to get it next on my list.
