Heroic UK is the easiest instance to run and can almost be 4 manned. This dropped for me my second run and is phenomenal. This should be best in game until 25 mans.

Any Hunter who has a clue knows that this bow is actually quite a bit better than the crafted Nesingwary 4000. You can see this if you use Wowheads Item comparison tool and use any hunter spec "weighting".

Got mine last night and paid Dr.Boom a visit to level it to 400, dramatic increase in dps from the Drakkari Hunting Bow from Gundrak. Nice drop rate too.

0/11 on runs for this. I have seen the epic belt 7 times, the pants 3 times, and the ring once.

Hunters who have patience such as myself, do yourself a favor and quest for a few hours to get the gold to buy a Nesingwary 4000. It is not worth the trouble of running this 11 days in a row to get NOTHING.

To those complaining of doing alot of runs and getting nothing: I'm 0/12 right now, so i feel your pain. Haven't seen the helm either. However, along with h VH, UK is the easiest badge farm in WOTLK. My regular group has this place down to 40 minutes, fast rep, fast badges. So we are getting alot.

Still, it would be easier to take if my friend hadn't gotten the damn thing first run :)

This crossbow is equal to the nesingwary 4000(provided you're not a dwarf) and also some ranged weapons in 10-man naxx. As a marksmanship hunter currently running heroic this is great. wish me luck on those damned gloves/belt/bracers from other heroics

I am currently 0-13. I havn't lost roll I have just never seen it drop. If you are on Malygos and need the tanking sword off 1st boss, chest off 2nd, or epic belt off Ingvar run with me Gorenam. That is pretty much 100% drops for me. :(

Yeah this dropped for my group yesterday and I got it on my rogue, only because it was druid pally priest dk so i was the only who could use it. I also would've been happy to keep my green thrown and let a hunter take it if he had been there.
It's for the good of the Horde! ;D

I know this is going to sound like bragging but it really isn't.

I've been in H UK 7 times till now. Seen this drop 3 times(me, a fury warrior, got it once, our tank got it once and we de'ed it once). Ring drop twice(mage, resto druid got it) and leather drop twice.But the damn plate legplates that i want never drop, never. Its really f***ing annoying since I know that i don't need this but it keeps dropping.

Picked it up today.. 1st run no issues. Only hunter in the group so of course I got it. Everyone in the group congratulated me before I even saw it.. Had good non greedy players.. This is an easy get for hunters. Well worth the run if you can't get a Naxx group running!

As A Beast Mastery Hunter seeing the Speed and Stats (mainly no haste) on this crossbow I knew I had to have it, especially considering how few Epic bows/guns there are in the game at this moment. I have been running Heroic Utgarde Keep every day for the past 17 days and only not downed Ingvar once meaning I have killed him 16 times. So far I have seen 8 of the epic belts four of the rings and four of the legplates. Oh well I guess I will just have https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=39486 forever...

After 21 runs I have made this bow mine. When I saw it drop there might've been a tear in the corner of my eye.

I'm really gonna try to get this crossbow. As everyone knows it's ideal for any hunter. This is gonna have to do it before i start the actual raiding! Am I the only one thinking "why aren't there any ranged weapons?" Have i perhaps missed something :P, or is there a lack of them?

Need some more epics now and then I'll give Nax a try.
Shame with the ranged weapons but well, what can you do about it.
I actually believe that the droprate on this bow is higher than 50% something, since I've heard about a lot of guys that have seen it on their first run. Anyways the weapon is great!

That $&@:£%* belt has dropped so many times it's not even funny. I have seen every drop BUT this xbow. I have the worst luck. In every group I've been in I've been the only one who would've wanted it. The loot gods must hate me.

Not quite as good as the Nesingwary Rifle for dwarfs, thanks to the racial. With both skills capped at 400, the crossbow will give 0.5% less crit and 1 less AP, and that's without a gem in the Nesingwary socket. On the otherhand, it does looking b*tchin, and is about the same size as my dwarf.

None of this takes into account the higher low end of the crossbow, though. Would the higher low end make up for the loss in crit?

Prot warrior rolled need against me (a hunter) and beat me in the group I was in today. His reason..."I'm Fury when I'm not tanking for heroics".

Listen people, there are some items that could go both ways or that all dps could use, but then there are some items that come along that are class specific. This is one of those items and is probably the best range weapon a hunter is going to see for a while. If you don't know about gear itemization, take some time to familiarize yourself with it.

I completely agree. I could say the same about huntards rolling on things like the Betrayer of humanity against a fury warrior. Or ret pallie, dk etc etc. It's bull#$%^. And the people who allow this to go on are just as retarded. Normally I would not roll on a ranged weapon that was an upgrade for a hunter, even if it was an upgrade for me also. So stay the hell away from the BoH unless you want me rolling on the envoy of mortality. After all, it is the best in slot "stat stick" for a fury warrior.

But anyways, the reason I came here to post was that max dps shows this as an increase in dps (for a fury warrior) over pierce's pistol aka zombie sweeper shotgun despite the lower amount of attack power. 39.44 dps compared to 44.03 for the crossbow.

The shotgun has 12 more ap, and 17 hit rating, but the bow has 0.64 more crit. The crit wins, if you're over the soft cap for yellow specials switch to the bow.

And don't roll against the hunters unless they have one.

I already have the Nesingwary (my main is an Engineer). If my hunter was a dwarf, I'd stay with it. But, having a NE survival Hunter I want the +29AGI (and 1.15% AGI bonus) from the X-bow and just plain hate the sound of the gun...

I've only done heroic UK twice. The second time that I ran it, this dropped as well as the Plunderer's Helmet. Naturally, being the only hunter in the group, I got them both. I was grouped with a pally, rogue, druid, and lock.
I was really excited because I'm trying to get geared up for raiding, so the helmet was a good upgrade. Plus, this crossbow was an upgrade from my old Sunfury Bow of the Phoenix. lol. So, I got really lucky. =)

I wanted to let others know that I have the Nesingwary 4000, and I picked up this CB last night. It doesn't come near the stats of the Nesingwary, due to the fact that this CB has no socket like the Nesingwary and lower damage overall, too. The agility stat doesn't come close to making up for CSR if you socket the Nesingwary with a CSR gem. My overall damage, AP and crit chance all dropped considerably when I equppied this bow in comparison to the Nesingwary.....it's a shame too, as this is kind of a nice looking CB. But I suppose, if one doesn't have the 800-1kg to spend on the gun, then this CB would suffice.

I've been one unlucky Hunter for some time... when I hit lvl 80 I had the Bow of Bone and Sinew as my main weapon (I know, it sucks), and I started trying to farm this xbow, but with no luck, so I farmed regular Gundrak for the Drakkari Hunting Bow, which did pay-off after a few tries, and I added Heroic Old Kingdom for either the Titanium Compound Bow or the Amanitar Skullbow... for two weeks, I went to both instances each day, which is like three 20% drop items a day and I had no luck! Finally, I did get the Drake-Mounted Crossbow and now I'm happy (never did get the bows from OK).

Maybe my bad luck has finally broke! lol

lol my story sounds just like Hunterishfellow's story... i currently have the Hemet's Trophy gun and I've ran heroic utgarde keep 15 times. Never seen it drop yet, just the belt, ring, and legplates.

Drops fairly often, it seems like, so if you don't get it the first time, there's always tomorrow. Keep is fast and easy.
It's not very flashy though. Even though the Nesingwary 4000 gun has a gem slot, this seems to do a better job DPS wise, but I'll admit that I just stuck a blue in there. Still, I would recommend that one waits until this drops.

Obviously for a hunter, but it does have nice rogue stats as well. So be prepared that in a PuG you may be rolling against that crazy HAT ninja.
