This is the first time since before BC that the best 2H staff in the game beats out the best combination of MH/HiOH.

For Spiritual Guidance Priests and Tree of Life form Druids, this is arguably superior to our other itemization options even when we are in a fight where we are casting non-stop and risk being out of mana. Using appropriate combinations of Purified Shadowsong Amethyst on blue sockets and Teardrop Crimson Spinel on red sockets a Priest with Spiritual Guidance will see:

Golden Staff of the Sin'dorei nets you 693 +healing bonus or 711 +healing with 3xTeardrops
whereas
Archon's Gavel + Scepter of Purification nets you 686 +healing bonus

Either way, it seems to be superior even for mana regen unless you have a horribly low amount of intellect. Turns out that (assuming 500 Int and 2xPurifieds) this staff gets you about 26 +MP/5 inside the 5 second rule and a whopping about 80 +MP/5 outside the 5 second rule.
Even with Book of Highborne Hymns you'll only get a flat 20 +MP/5. Way to go 2.4 spirit buff!

And on top of that, the insane spirit stacking abilities for this staff as Tree of Life Druid in tank groups adds 21 +heal with 1xPurifieds + 2xSparklies to your aura from this staff alone. Excellent!

Did I mention Spell haste? This staff has that too! Although getting edged out by the Dark Blessing + Book of Highborne Hymns' 52 +haste rating (3.3%), the staff has a respectable 32 +haste rating (2.0%).

Overall for a ilevel 164 item dropping from the acting leader of the Burning Legion, this seems pretty well itemized and it looks like this time around we'll have another (but a bit more subtle) PvP *beacon going into WotLK.

This Staff still beats out the mace from Kil'jaeden + Archimonde off hand, which would be the best 1h/oh combo available to priests.

Assuming you run with Spiritual Guidance, SoR, Imp. DS, Kings, and 11 healing/5 spirit gems in blue sockets, the stats are:

Staff:
+17 stam
+12 int
+ 41 spi
+ 9 haste

Mace + OH:
+ 24.5 healing
+ 10 mp5

The 12 int and 41 spirit from the staff easily give more than 10 mp5, even while-casting, and well over 50 mp5 not-casting.

So 24 healing is an easy trade for the huge amount of regen gained, especially considering how much regen we lose going from BT/Hyjal gear to Sunwell gear.

Comparing Hammer of Sanctification and Book of Highborne Hymns with Golden Staff of the Sin'dorei

Purified Shadowsong Amethyst in the blue sockets
Teardrop Crimson Spinel in the red socket

For the mainhand and offhand combo we got:

+ 52 stamina
+ 45 intellect
+ 45 Haste
+ 721 healing
+ 18 manatic
+ 5 spirit

For the staff we got:

+ 60 stamina
+ 54 Intellect
+ 71 spirit
+ 32 haste
+ 675 healing

If you choose the staff over the mainhand and offhand you would gain:

+ 8 stamina
+ 9 intellect
+ 66 spirit

and lose:

- 13 haste
- 46 healing
- 18 manatic

Best staff currently in-game BUT Hammer of Sanctification ( https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=34335#comments ) with Book of Highbourne Hymns ( https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=34206 ) would be better even if you put healing gems in this staff.

Excuse me if my question is not appropriate here.

Is this staff better for a warlock compared to Grand Magister's Staff of Torrents, now that 3.0 is live?
I am not familiar with warlocks but i do believe Grand Magister is still better, and this staff is not even close to that.

if you combine this staff with scarlet sin'dorei robes mantle of three horrors ruby slippers and a back item that drops from sunwell you will have an awesome sin'dorei outfit

This staff should be made into a heirloom that or give it a different color scheme and make it a legendary weapon for Cataclysm

This drops from Kil'jaeden in Sunwell Plateau.

It's said to be the best choice for Spiritual Guidance priests and maybe also Tree of Life druids. I can't be bothered to do all the calculations, but if you want to see it check out WoWHead. :P

wow this stuff is incredible. You can gem this and forget about illidans mace. It pretty much has every single stat a priest would need plus sockets! Wow!

Much like the 1H Mace of its kind from Kil'j, Has only 50 less +healing than the TK mace. Very nice druid healer, priest, or shammy. :) Good hunting!

Plus im sure with +22 healing gems you can go OVER the TK mace :P

Sadly, like most of the other healing staves in the game this is outdone by a 1H/OH combo at the same gear level, in this case Hammer of Sanctification and Scepter of Purification is slightly superior. That is unless you're a priest or Druid lacking spirit, in which case this is better.

But with the change to spirit based regen in 2.4 and Sunwell gear, you're not running out of mana, are you?

Shamans can get Hammer of Sanctification and Aegis of Angelic Fortune.

Staffs usually are superior in stats (sta int spirit), while you can get a lot more +heal etc with a mh oh combo
