Interesting note...

the bonus on this crossbow 21 agi and 30 sta = 21 + 20 = 41 item value
while the slightly lower dps bow from Lady Vashj has 44.....

Well just cause we are making suggestions here, and being a ssc/tk hunter, i could easily say that stamina on the range weapon in not really i want, while the gap of 8 or 9k hp is easily brakeable with the buffs and gear at that point u'll get the bow (BT) but mostly the hit, crit, agi and ap. But there are some cases like survival hunter who is based on agility (ie ahoq from nihilum has 930 with kings) and BM who usually needs stats to boost pet. Therefore as a MM hunter u dont get any advantage from the serpentshrine longbow, only u could get imo if u are not lucky with drops. BM/survival is not my playstyle so if anyone skilled in any of those 2 could make a suggestion aswell.

By far one of the best Rogue Crossbows out there. Great dps and added agility and stamina, can be used as a hunter's bow as well.

This is the only ranged weapon with agility since the Sunfury Bow of the Phoenix, which makes in an obvious choice for SV hunters, without hit it isnt much of a rogue weapon but is decent for tanking. Though it has better dps than the Merciless Gladiators Crossbow, its damage range isnt tight which leaves me hoping for a real end game hunter weapon with agility.

Its a great weapon for survival, however in the future, getting a https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=30906 would benefit better overall due to the crit, that is until https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=34196 from the Eredar Twins in Sunwell Plateau or Thor'dal.

Dont forget +21agi and +30stam on this weapon and they can be boosted whit palas BoK and thats something that cant be done on stats on lets say ~Crossbow of Relentless Strikes~. Have them both and I am BM hunter and i must tell u i do more dmg whit ~Legionkiller~.

We had a pug raid together and when we got here and this dropped the 70 hunter ML ninjaed it from the high roller claiming he didn't see the last roll but no one believed him.

The raid broke up after that and later reformed in an hour WITHOUT him.

I henceforth will know this thing as the Raidkiller.

there is no better ranged weapon for a rouge than this one.

however i cannot tell you should rogue, hunter or warrior get it if they all need it. hunters may have a more fitting bow they dont wanna change, though.

ill just repeat, currently there is no better ranged weapon for a rouge than the legionkiller.

Very nice crossbow, good dps on it, and very nice top-end. 30 Stamina is also nice to have for pvping with it.

This x-bow is a drop of Supremus in Black Temple.

Looks like a very nice ranged weapon for a rogue. I treat my ranged weapon like an extra ring anyway, so the stats are the major draw here, but the damage is nice as well. Anyone got any pics to share of this thing?

Being the best DPS ranged in the game atm, hunters should definitely get priorty if they don't already have serpentshrine longbow.

HOWEVER consider following line of reasoning :

1) BT attunement requires you to clear both the Eye / SSC and certain part of Hyjal
2) If this is true for your guild then it's safe to assume - looking at most normal guilds' progression - that SSC is on farm status.
3) If SSC is on farm status, then there is a high chance that most - if not all - of your hunters in the raid already have Serpentshrine Longbows as priority loot over fury warrior / rogue.

If the above conditions are met, then there's no real reason to spend more DKP - as is the case with most guilds, item DKPs increase with the difficulty of raid instances - for a ranged weapon that does 1 more dps and has less crit / AP / damage range.

Higher damage range / reload time DOES favor raid hunters whose main source of dmg now comes from weaving in steady shot between their normal shot rotation.

This means, even for BM hunters who have passive increase in attack bonus and when you're using rapid shot, you have higher reliably in weaving in your steadyshot and even an instant arcane / poison shots without having to worry about GC timer interrupting your steadyshot rotation.

Moreover, looking at pure stats, 21 agility / 30 stamina DOES favor tankers. The only comprable ranged - rather, stat stick - in the game is gyro balanced khorium destroyer, and it pales in comparison to 21 agility bonus.

So hunters, - or any newbs who likes flaming/ fantasizing about items that theyll never get a chance to roll on - please flame / fantasize with discretion.

i also put this for rifle of the stoic guardian; trolls have a skill increase in bows so should i just get serpent-spine bow or does it not really make a difference; i'm a troll hunter

This X-bow isnt purely made for hunters, players that claim such a thing will either never get this far or is one of those hunters that need on everything they can use. If it was for hunters only it would say so. Sure a warrior or a rogue shouldn't roll on it if it was an upgrade for the hunter, that would just be plain stupid. This bow isn't that great for a warrior tho. I would rather take Gyro-balanced Khorium Destroyer

Since it has a socket and is far easier to get, you can slam anything you want in to that socket as a warrior. (this is from a tank warriors point of view). So please stop making stupid comments like "OMGFFSBBQ STUpiD WAarrIor CANT HAVE THIZ OVA A &*!@#$%" of course they cant if its an UPGRADE for the hunter. Anyhow, stop flaming since most of the people here ain't never gonna see it drop.

One thing that I don't see anyone commenting on is that this is the best 2.9 speed weapon out there. For BM hunters speed is critical. Both the Don Santos and Wolf Slayer rifles are better than the 3.0 Serpent Spine longbow and this is the first weapon that is an upgrade since the Opera event in Kara (or a world drop in case of DS). For MM/SV speed is not as critical (you don't want anything faster than 2.9 but can get plenty of benefit from a slower weapon).

I was reading earlier posts on how warriors took this wep over hunters, well I as a warr would take the epic glad throwings over that so well thts just me....

In other words if you are runing BT that means you are playing wow a lot so why would ppl in a guild that cares that much about the game leave loot on need or greed?

That's because they arnt if you must lie dont lie like an idiot, no guild running the hardest raid in the game with this amazing wep dropping would leave loot on need or greed it would be on loot master, if he gave the warr the wepover you well then.....get the hell outta that guild.

So honestly guys making random !@#$ up about how tanks steal ur weps put and loot master and stop crying.

Well i got this crossbow yesterday evening and its clearly a hunters weapon. Even if you think the stats are more warrior like or whatever. The dps from it is great and the only upgrades are from Archi or Illidan himself. I had the steampistol from Alar still. Btw no single warrior or rogue even bidded 1 single dkp on this item maybe that should clear it a bit for the ones stating its not for hunters!

Anyone know what's better for a survival hunter? I have the merciless x-bow and I am wondering if it would be worth it to roll on this if it drops. Yes, I am aware of how good agility is for survival, but because of the speed, the merciless x-bow should hit harder than this. If this bow was 3.0 speed, I wouldn't have any doubts what is better, but since it's 2.9, I'm not sure.
