Running this baby through Bellator's dps spreadsheet. This is currently the best item in game for Blood Elf Ret paladins. Edging out over Cataclysms edge and Torch of the Damned by a considerable dps margin!!! (approx 7dps relative to your gear composition) - Note Cataclysms may turn out better depending on your armor pen values (ie your gear has an armor pen focus....for whatever reason :s )

The 53 haste rating gives this an effective attack speed of 3.4 (3.386). With 3/5 Flurry (Arms PvE) that's 2.9 (2.944). Definitely useable for an Arms rotation but I hope you have a low ping. (of course, if you are PvE Arms you are probably wincing at the thought of not using a sword)

Also, the 3.4 effective attack speed kind of gives this axe 138.9 DPS.

Its speed is a little too fast for pvp warriors, but for non-blacksmiths ,it's still fine.

For a warr.
This Axe is more PVE than PvP , while i agree that PvE is more into swords , this Axe is almost useless in PvP simply for the lack of stamina.

i was hoping for a alliance paladin weapon.. but this weapons fails in my eyes...

since we alliance don't have seal of blood, we cannot take the most advantage of it.. and crusader strike damage is greatly determined by the speed of the weapon...

would you prefer a instant 3.8 weapon attack that does more damage? or

a instant 3.4 weapon attack that does some damage...

this weapon favors specifically only "blood elf paladins" and their seal of blood.. and maybe for hunters, if they don't have the pvp one..

overall, nice weapon, but imo, not worth 150 badge of justice if you are alliance paladin.... unless 2.4. gives alliance paladins seal of blood ability also.

I am finding it hard to understand why some people think this isn't a superior weapon for a pvp specced warrior. It has a huge damage range, lots o crit, haste that stacks with flurry, not to mention warriors that go 2h axe get an extra 5% chance to crit, which has been alot better pvp for me than swords. Sure it isn't as slow as some could be, but look at the top end damage!!!

blade of harbingers would be prefered for pve with haste rating, more crit and more ap. it'd be the best 2h stat stick if you have good hit rating already.

Provided you're at the hit cap, it's the second best stat stick behind Shivering Felspine. (and by a fairly wide margin I might add)

This is the stuff every BM hunter dreams about. Haste rating is point-for-point the overall best DPS boosting stat for a 1 steady shot to 1 auto shot rotation. A slow weapon + haste rating outperforms a "fast" (2.6-2.7 speed) weapon + agility as long as your steady shots do not clip your auto shots.

Thoridal hasted down to 2.6 speed before talents and quiver is what every BM hunter desires!

Nice DPS weapon but lack of stamina makes me leery to want to switch to it. Losing anywhere from 49-69 490 to 690 HP's is a large dent. Yet the new druid staff has similar DPS with the built in attack power and 780 (More for bear) HP's? The crit rating is lower and no haste but still a serious stamina addition of at least 40-49 should be added to the weapon. Not everyone likes to run around with a big painstick and no hitpoints to take a return swing.

Hi guys,
currently using Bloodmoon on my Arms (33/28/0) warrior
think this weapon is worth the swoping?
main doubt is ofcz the weapon speed, although i currently overuse slam which is an insta attack;
highest damage is almost the same so i guess no real benefit from there, but speed swinger and effective haste are puzzling me a bit

Is it just me? or is that Axe damn ugly?

Still, I think the Brutal Gladiator Sword is ugly too (the coloring is all wrong, hope Apolyon is colored better.)

I wonder what the BGMace will look like. And its PvE equivilent..

At first I was unsure about this weapon because it has no stamina. I recently aquired the Axe of the Gronn Lords so going from a whopping 66 stamina to zero is a substantial difference. However, one thing I do not like about my current 2h axe is the lack of crit. This weapon will help a lot. I can always use it when the extra HP isn't absolutely necessary. Since I'm a BM Hunter, the haste rating will be lovely as well. ^^

Personally, I'll get this after I get this xbow and some of the new badge armor. Then I'll save up for this bad boy.

Figured it should be noted as to where else you can purchase this weapon, and the rest of the Quel'Danas Badge loot. There is a guy in Shatrah behind the portal that leads to Quel that has the title of weapons and armorsmith. He also sells the items. Let's see how this item works for a PvE Arms warrior who has to clear Brutallus each week.

The spec is, of course, 33/28 with 3/5 flurry. This includes full bloodfrenzy in addition to other abilities, and is the spec you want your first dps warrior to have in your raid.

In order to maintain a "perfect" rotation, you need an autoattack > Slam > MS > autoattack > Slam > WW > autoattack > Slam > MS > autoattack > Slam > Open GCD >.

When you get heroism/bloodlust, you are going to clip your autoattacks, so you need to either spam execute, or HS off rage and change cycles. Let's not even concern ourselves with that. We need to see if this weapon will work for the first 80% of the fight.

Remember, 15.76 Haste Rating = 1% Haste. Haste is multiplicative.

During 80% of the fight, if you are actually killing Brutallus, you have following haste buffs up almost continuously:

1) 3/5 Flurry (15% haste)
2) Drums of Battle (80 Haste Rating)
3) Haste from this weapon (53 Haste Rating)

This gives you 133 Haste Rating from items, or 8.439% haste.

Assuming you have avoided ALL haste on items you are wearing, your speed will be:

1.15 x 1.08439 = 1.247% Haste
3.5 ÷ 1.247 = 2.807 weapon speed

Since you cannot go below 2.5 without clipping your next autoattack, and you need a pinch of slack for latency, this weapon in a fully decked out melee group should give you "perfect" 2.5 second cycles with 307ms worth of slack for latency.

This is an excellent weapon for an Arms PvE warrior. I think it probably beats CE due to the lack of stamina and focus on dps stats.

Compared to bloodmoon, this is a complete sidegrade and more or less a bad use of badges, until you have all the other badge loot you want.

The AP and crit are about the same. Damage range IS the same. Mortal Strike, Whirlwind, and Overpower (not something you use to DPS but when soloing you do) will have EXACT same damage.

Slam, however is not normalised like those 3 attacks. It will do LESS damage with blade of harbingers than with Bloodmoon because of the faster speed. The difference may range from as high as ~4.5% with 4000 raidbuffed AP. If slam is 35-45% of your Damage, there goes 2% or so of your total damage

What do you gain then? Decently higher white DPS and a slightly faster slam rotation. However, the more haste you have the more difficult it is to correctly predict your slam timing in raids. So take this small gain with a grain of salt.

Overall, not much if any of an upgrade over bloodmoon. Better spend badges on the other options

Bloodmoon will produce no where near as much dps as this weapon for a slam warrior in PvE.

TLDR version: Slower weapon speed is not better for a slam warrior as long as your cycle doesn't fall below 2.5s + latency + reaction time. Even though the hit’s will be weaker, you will increase the number of slams (which are your most rage efficient ability) because of compressed cycle time.

As long as you have the raid buffs and gear to ensure that each white swing generates the rage to fuel your cycle, this is a fine weapon to use.

if you have any haste at all besides drums, you will clip slam rotations with this weapon.
If you are in sunwell you almost certainly have moderate haste unless you go very much out of your way to avoid it.

With bloodmoon, on the other hand, you can benefit from moderate amounts of haste due to slow speed

This should be the last choice of PvP weapon for warriors, if you happen to be so lazy to honor farm and get s2 sword/mace. If you are an Orc warrior, then I guess it is understandable SOMEWHAT, but it is still something you shouldn't take to arenas with you.

On the other hand, any non-human paladins just got their free s3-equivalent weapon right here for you.

okay, I just picked up this puppy last night. I'm a hybrid warrior 33/28 and I'm working to replace my pvp gear with pve - it's coming along nicely. So my question is this... Mongoose over Executioner?

I do some times off tank when forced so I'm leaning more towards Executioner but it doesn't stack like mongoose and I love the way mongoose procs so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

As an warrior i would like to see this axe mostly on Hunters. For warrior (even an orc with axe spec like me) this is not so great thing. I love having an axe but not this one. seems like they forgot us warriors in this patch (thinking of axes) :DD

With the new buff to Fury (5% hit penalty down from 12-15%), dual wielding these is godly.

Only thing that saddens me is the loss of the expertise bonus when wielding swords or maces (human).

Also of note is that the Axe spec is going to be nerf (or already has).

i would say that this one are one of the best weps in game for TG fury, the insane critt and high dps makes it better than any other 2h wep eccept catalysm edge and the one dropping from kiljaeden, im getting my second tthis week, cant wait^^ (even tho TG dps aint so great until we can get deep wounds to....)

This weapon doesn't hit as hard as the S3 axe and that is considered junk by many. Axe spec in general is bad when everyone can walk around with 30 percent crit with both sword and mace. I like the looks for the weapon and that's about it. Blizzard should have added some armor ignore on this baby.

That maybe all fine and dandy but not every has access to S3 weapons. If you do, then goody..goody..gum drops for you. For those that don't, this gives us access to far more dps.

In regards to people saying S3/ax spec is weak, check your facts. A good percentage of the highest rated teams have ax spec'd warriors ... without improved slam mind you. The sword/mace specs has luck involved that's often what wins the fights. For those using axes, it's all about managing your hits/rage .. basically, more skill.

i dont care what you guys say, this axe is amazing and is comparable to the torch of the damned and thats bt stuff people, this has more dps (tho its a tiny bit faster) more haste and more crit the only thing that makes the mace better is that it has stam and strength instead of AP but still, the fact you can get something thats like equal to BT from badges is... wow...

It's pretty funny readng comments on axe spec. I used Stormherald til it became the welfare weapon for every gold buyer out there. So I put the mace in the bank and grab the axe. 42.6% base crit in pvp gear......48% in raid gear buffed. Over 4k slams and 3200 WHITE crits. So you can't knock axe spec. It's fun to get ahold of a resiliance capped lock and crit the hell out of him. Of course get an executioner chant and make sure you have a swing timer!

you can get up to 50% with poleAxe spec and if you gem + crit all over your items. MS warriors (pvp) shouldn't stack crit because of resilence (especially if you in a high rank team), AP is more reliable way to go...so don't go for high crit, and if you fury (pve) then you should get some +hit before you start care about crit.

That is not true that top teams have more Axe warriors, Mace pwn in smaller teams...Sword spec owns 5v5.

Haste, Strength and some stam never hurt if you doing both pvp and pve. This Axe rocks

From a warrior's PoV, unless you plan to do a lot of arena matches in Season 4 to get the S3 two-handed weapons (for the Armor Pen), this axe is arguably BiS for non-raiders and Alts. Especially if you plan on playing the character you buy this axe in WotLK Classic (as even fury warriors will need 2H weapons going into Wrath). I wouldn't go for either if you are (or plan on) raiding T6 level content as there are better options available there.... unless your luck with weapon upgrades is just that awful.

You could try waiting until Wrath prepatch to go for the Season 4 weapons, which would be even better options (and likely sold for Honor), but there's no guarantee that Blizz will make the S4 gear available for honor, if at all, as I recall that the season 4 gear was removed outright after the original TBC expac ended and they weren't reintroduced until sometime in Cataclysm.

In any case, you will likely not replace this axe until Lv78 at the earliest, and even at Lv80, only the Titansteel Destroyer is clearly better than this axe out of all PreRaid BiS-level items available for Tier 7 content (everything close to this axe is a sidegrade, a heroic/raid gear drop, or is simply not available until a later raid tier).

The only caveat is this is by far the most expensive item at 150 badges and it'll surely take a while to save up for it, so start now if you want this. Especially if you plan to get TWO of these as an upcoming Titan's Grip warrior. C:
