2.4 went live today.

Fishing Quests are available only to level 70 toons, but you can have as little as level 1 fishing.

To clarify for the people commenting below. You can have level 1 fishing to get the quest.... not necessarily to get the hat.

Got this today. Either I'm real lucky or the drop rates from the fishing daily are wrong. In the matter of a week:
-Muckbreath pet
-Weather beaten fishing hat
-Shadow pearl (50g)
-Cooking recipe (fishing booze)
-Spun truesilver fishing line (fishing pole enchant which i used on seth's graphite)

It's worth noting that once your in possession of the hat, you no longer recieve Sharpened Fish Hook, and instead I've been recieving Elixir of Water Walking. Of course this is because you shouldn't need any more lures, but is also great as by the time you finally loot it, you'll have loads in the bank, and the elixir is far more useful/resellable.

This is not true. My druid still receives both lures and elixirs after having gotten the hat. She also had received both prior to obtaining the hat.

As expected there appears to be no minimum fishing skill required to use the lure effect from the hat. I have the hat now on a character with level 7 fishing skill. Nice little boost for the early portion of the grind.

A list of the things you need to get maximum fishing skill:

Arcanite Fishing Pole - +35 Fishing (Reward from winning the STV FIshing Contest)

High Test Eternium Fishing Line - +5 Fisihng (Reward from catching a rare fish during the STV Fisihing Contest)

Lucky Fishing Hat or Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat - +5 Fishing (Reward from catching a rare fish during the STV Fisihing Contest and Reward from the Daily Fishing Quests)

Nat Pagle's Extreme Anglin' Boots - +5 Fishing (Reward from catching a rare fish during the STV Fisihing Contest)

Enchant Gloves - Fishing - +2 Fishing (Gloves Enchant)

Aquadynamic Fish Attractor or Sharpened Fish Hook - +100 Fishing (Made by engineering and Reward from the Daily Fishing Quests)

Captain Rumsey's Lager - +10 Fishing (The recipe is a reward from the Daily Fishing Quests)

Got mine doing my very first fishing daily =). The lures, as stated, are +75.

This is the macro I use so that I never have to bother with it ever again:

/equip Weather-Beaten
/equip Seth's Graphite Fishing Pole
/equip Brutal Gladiator's Slic
/equip Brutal Gladiator's Quick
/use Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat
/cast Fishing

When you hold alt and use this it will put your weapons back on incase you get attacked or whatever. Hope this helps anyone.

Ya know i've been fishing on my main for about 2 months, did the daily fishing quest almost every day and never got the hat. Yesterday got my warrior to 70 and pick up the fishing quest and guess what ? I got the hat on my first attempt ! Crazy !

I got this hat off of the Crockolisks in the City daily bag. I must have been lucky as I got it on my very first fishing daily along with some fish hooks and a few gold. I hadn't done a fishing daily before because (1) I didn't have the skill for any others and (2) I had been waiting for this quest to appear to help get the achievement Old Crafty. Unfortunately, the glitch that allows for easy catching of the fish has been fixed in 3.0.8, the same day that the quest finally became available to me out of the 3 other dailies.

I know that everything in the Bag is still obtainable, the only thing I am wondering, is it obtainable by Death Knights specifically? I have been doing this quest on my Death Knight ever since I hit 80 for about 3 months now, every single day. So far, I have obtained everything but the Hat, and Truesilver Line. So far on my server, asking over trade, not one Death Knight has come forward and said they got one of the two. Bug for Death Knights possibly? I know there have already been a couple, if not more.

They really need to make this hat a little bit like the Weather-Beaten Journal and make it so that, if you already have a hat, it doesn't drop anymore. I just got my second hat when that spot could have easily be taken by a baby crocolisk bucket. At least its a free 2g 54s 90c.

In patch 3.1, new fishing daily quests will be available that (as of the current ptr build) drop this hat as well as many more loot similar to what the BC dailies dropped. Additional drops that have been documented so far:

* Unusual Items (poles below):
o Gems (Unique-equipped, Bind on Pickup), including Rigid Stormjewel (+20 Hit) and Solid Stormjewel (+30 Stamina).
o High Test Eternium Fishing Line (same as Extravaganza)
o Sealed Vial of Poison - Begins a quest, delivered to The Black Market of Dalaran for 18 gold.
o Strand Crawler - Small crab-like mini-pet (Pic).
o Tiny Titanium Lockbox - Requires 405 lockpicking. May contain gems, including Solid Stormjewel.
o Unusual Compass - Using it makes you face a random direction (video).
o Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat (same as Outland Daily)
* Common Items:
o Deviate Fish
o Elixir of Water Walking
o Glow Worm - +100 lure.

Holy christ...I just got this on the first fishing daily I've ever done. It must be my lucky day.. I just got my Deathcharger's Reins off of Baron Rivendare four hours ago too.
I can safely say the hat does exist, just don't give up on the fishing dailies. You may get lucky like I did. :D

Ever find yourself only fishing 10 minutes a day and having to look for lures, fishing pole, hat and putting the lure on a bit of a pain? Well I've solved that, I've even solved the issue of putting your gear back on!

Here's what it does: First it equips item:33820 and item:45858. Then it uses the hat onto the fishing pole. Now you are ready to fish in one click. Once you are done you then hold shift, and then it puts your normal hat and weapon on.

Feel free to change to modifier and most likely the items in this macro. You can find out what item "number" and item has by looking it up on wowhead and the site will be called "https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=12345"

PS: if you are really wild you can probably fit "/cast fishing" in the macro aswel somewhere ;)

For the last few patches I have thought that the equip cooldown to use this hat had been removed, only to realise my addon had used a fish hook and the cooldown remained.
However 3.2 indeed has removed this annoying cooldown.
On a side note, as a human am I casting more from the side rather than over head since 3.2?

This is not true. You cannot learn fishing until you reach level 5. Unfortunately.
I am very sure because I have a level 1 achievement hunter. However, if fishing ever becomes available at level 1,
I will not rest until I have my +40 stam hat :)
Also, first aid can only be learned till 225 right now. Please, check your sources before randomly posting stuff. Thanks.

just a note to Calabacin, you should add that the 'mastercraft kalu'ak fishing pole' is now obtainable through exalted reputation with the kalu'ak, and gives +30 fishing as well as underwater breathing

Not obtainable by level <80 any more, sadly. With Patch 3.3.3 it seems they put a lvl 70 (80?) req on the quest. (Previously you could fish it, and deliver at any level).

And as Pwntard has unequipped hers, I believe those who already got it can't equip it anymore, sadly.

Sucks, as this was the pinnacle of twink BiS gearing.

I was doing the Outland's Fishing quests and Dalaran Fishing quest obtained from Marcia Chase. This hat was in the treasure bag from Marcia Chase's quest reward. Always thought I had to run the old Burning Crusade fishing quests to obtain, but I guess not. Just fyi.

Does anyone know, since the changes in 3.3.3, if the hat is only obtainable if you have one of the three Lich King poles? It could be RNG, but on other characters prior to 3.3.3 I obtained the hat after only a few days but my current character (that does not have a LK pole yet) keeps striking out.

I got it today, day after the patch that started the fishing quests.
Talk to old man Barlo at Silmyr Lake outside Shattrath. He'll send you on a quest where the reward is a bag of fishing treasures (assorted goodies).....I didn't even know you could get cool stuff like this, very happy as you might have guessed :-)
