This is the hunter "tier 2.5" or "AQ40 set." The set obtained turn-ins involving various items, token drops, and reputation in Ahn'qiraj.

As a hunter collecting the set, you shouldn't have too difficult of a time at 85. Indeed, you can easily solo a number of the bosses (Grab a Tenacity pet with Thunderstomp and Glifo Carbonizzato and Glifo Carbonizzato for an easy time). However, due to speed and some difficulties depending on class and skill, you're likely best off taking a small group to the raid to guarantee success. You should check out comments on the various boss pages and encounter information.

The Sawbones Shirt from Scholomance is a very suitable shirt for this set.

This set uses the dark purple and red (officially "Black") version of the Ahn'Qiraj Mail artwork and is the Ahn'Qiraj set for Hunters. It forms six pieces of an eight-piece set of the art.

Sadly there isn't any available belt that is the correct artwork and colour. If it existed it'd look like Fascia dell'Imperatore Caduto, but in a dark purple with red edging to match this set.

There are also no available bracers of the same artwork and colour. Bracciali del Regolamento di Conti Eterno are the correct appearance but were never added to the game. They probably wouldn't be visible anyway.

There's an alternative source for the boots: Stivali Forgiati all'Inferno.

There are two other colours of this set in the artwork database, but only one is available as a set:

Red-brown (officially "Red"): Stormcaller's Garb
The other colour is purple and gold (officially "Purple"). As far as I can tell it's only used on one pair of gloves: Guanti di Rapidacciaio and one pair of pants: Pantaloni Coperti di Melma

This actually fits perfectly in game with the set, the lines match well and the gold rope is a nice finish to a female character.

Darnassus Tabard goes nicely with this set if you are a Night Elf wanting to show some home pride.

For cloaks, I found two that matched extremely well.

The one that I went with, and the one that's *the* most perfect I've found, is Mantello di Loque'Nahak. Obviously this one is going to get a lot of hunter aggro, but the only other cloak that matches the color is DK-only (Manto dell'Empietà dell'Oscuracieli). The patterns match so well it may as well have been made for the set, though, other than the purple being about a half-shade off.

However, if you prefer not to go that route, farming Ombra di Aran every week will get you a plain purple cloak whose color matches absolutely perfectly: Drappo dei Saccheggiatori Oscuri. The Mantello della Madre dell'Antro is also a perfect match, and may be easier to get unless you have already completed all your Felwood quests.

I actually found that the BEST belt to match the red, without any other color embellishments, like silver or gold, is the Cintura di Scaglie Svuotata that drops from Voidhunter Yar in Nagrand by the giant crystal in the field.

My belt of choice is Cinturone del Generale Capo. Up close it doesn't quite fit as well as Cintura di Scaglie Svuotata, but from afar the red is a better hue, and much less of a pain to acquire.

As for bows, the perfect colour fit is Arco Lungo del Gladiatore Crudele. Personally I use Arco Lungo del Gladiatore Vendicativo for a more shiny look (and also, again, easier to acquire).

If you are looking for a matching polearm with this set, then the one I found that matches the best is Furianera. It's not something you're likely to find in the AH, but the mats aren't terrible to gather nowadays (other than the annoyance of getting all the crystals for the Arcanite). And for those who are really into getting a matched piece, this is probably going to be your best chance!

If, however, you're not looking for an ideal match to the set, the next closest (and really quite impressively close all-told) would be Aculeo di Terokk, which can be gotten from a fairly easy quest in Sethekk Halls. If you've done it pre-4.3, check inside the halls. The questgiver there will have reset, and you'll be able to do the quest over again. And if you have already done *both*, and vendored your quill... well... sorry to say, you're out of luck on that one.

Belt I use and you can too if you can find it is Cintura della Brama di Sangue. And then I just use Arco Dorato di Quel'Thalas even if it doesn't match because to me it still looks great together. Use whatever weapon you like because this set is really cool looking if you manage to get it, I just figured I'd help with the belt issue.

The color matches perfectly and it's cool looking, kinda hard to get though.

Prison Warden's Shotgun is a surprisingly aesthetic and matching gun for this set.

It drops from Lavanthor, only in normal mode, inside The Violet Hold.

For you who just wanted to know how long it takes, It can be done in 2 Weeks, IF you do all bosses in Temple and Ruins of Ahn'qiraj, turn in Ossirians head, C'thun's eye and hand in 3 Elementium Ingots with a Regalia. It does not require you to wait until 2999/3000 neutral to turn artifacts or Insignia's. I Did this on my hunter over 2 weeks. Kill all trash, you don't need to do viscidus. You will have around 4500/6000 honored, but remember you get more reputation by turning in the scarabs and idols against the 4 other pieces, which will get you to honored so you can turn in and get chestpiece aswell.

Arco Lungo del Gladiatore Crudele is a nice choice for a matching bow and can be easily obtained for 1,700 Honor Points.

As a hunter I refuse to hunt Loque'nahak, my trusted pet for several years, to get Mantello di Loque'Nahak, even if it's a perfect match!

might be a bug, but be careful if you have an add-on that turns in quests and picks the reward for you. The quests of this set seems to be repeatable and the add-on will keep turning them in, taking all of the things you need for the other quests.

How to get these?

Fly to Silithus (flight point might be gone due to phasing in Patch 7.3). If you want to restore it, speak to Zidormi or Rhonormu or (/way 78.8 21.8 Zidormi or /way Silithus 33.4 80.8 Rhonormu)

Entrance to Ahn'Qiraj is at the south's end of the road in Silithus. The road splits in front of the summon stone. Take the path to your right and follow the stairs (/way 47.2 7.9 Raid Entrance)

You'll need reputation at Stirpe di Nozdormu (but just til honored) and items to turn in the following quests, so kill every mob you meet. Keep items like Fregio dei Signori Qiraji, Scarabeo di Bronzo, Idolo della Morte and boss drops like Diadema di Vek'lor.

Defeat the first boss, enter the temple and take the way on your left. There are Andorgos, Vethsera and Kandrostrasz waiting for you. Speak to Kandrostrasz, accept and turn in Campione mortale.
After that, new quests appear (these are the ones for Paladins, they might need different items for other classes):

You'll need reputation and the random drops mentioned above to finish these quests.
Sometimes you may find Grande Forziere dello Scarabeos which can contain some of these quest items. You need Chiave del Forziere dello Scarabeo Superiore to open them.
Take care of your bag space.

Kandrostrasz offers the repeatable quest Campione mortale. Wait to turn in your Fregio dei Signori Qirajis until you are 2999/3000 Neutral by killing trash and bosses. After that, gaining reputation becomes harder (no more trash rep).
