This set is a Paladin Tier 15. It's obtained from Regno del Tuono raid, which was added in 5.2.

Judging by the name, Lightning Emperor set seems to have been partly inspired by Lei Shen, the Thunder King, the main antagonist of 5.2.

I'm not sure why the art team's obsessed with big, obnoxious helms for paladin tier lately (challenge mode Transmog set aside - that one's awesome!), but fear not, for the Celata dell'Araldo della Luce and its twins make a great match for this set.

The model for the boots was updated in 5.3 to the more substantial "knee-boot" design, from the original "bootie" design.

I really really like this model for plate wearers... you look like Lei Shen's top guard or something like that... Defnitely farming it on my Paladin.
