I have my heart set on the shoulders of this set, hoping to make a better match for the Nexus-Strider armor. Unfortunately, after poking around, it seems like the LW recipe for the shoulders ONLY dropped from a rare spawn that ceased to exist in Cataclysm. One poster said they got GM confirmation that the recipe was unattainable now. I've been advertising for a pre-cata LW, but I'm having a hard time finding someone with the recipe.

My Hunter on Silvermoon has the pattern for the shoulders, and I never even realized it was rare. I'll have to keep that in mind.

I'd suggest finding another, better shoulder. I personally think these ones are a little plain.

This set (apart from the head and shoulders) uses the Black variant of the Horde C1 Leather artwork. Combined with the Battered Saurscale pieces added in 5.2 it forms a complete six-piece set of the art.

Many of the original Heavy Scorpid pieces are now more difficult to find as they rely upon crafting recipes which currently don't drop. (Modello: Spallacci Pesanti di Scorpide was returned in MoP, though the shoulders don't actually use the same artwork as the rest of the set. Hopefully more recipes will be returned.) But the new level 90 pieces make this set easier to obtain without finding a leatherworker who knows the recipes.

Like many older sets, no artwork was ever created for the head and shoulders. The listed ones use unrelated art. Just pick whatever you think fits as there are no pieces designed to match.

There are three other variants of this set in the artwork database, but only one other is available in mail:

This set looks awesome on a goblin. I wish Blizz added option of turning off display of shoulders (as with head and cloak) as I don't feel it even needs the shoulders, just as many other sets out there. Submitted suggestion.

This set + Skybreaker's Mantle makes an adequate recreation of Thrall's armor set. You could sub in Mass of McGowan as a doomhammer replica!

My LW on Shu'halo-Eitrigg has the pattern for the Heavy Scorpid helm, shoulders, chest, wrists, and waist, but NOT the hands, or legs. And a small pile of heavy scorpid scale to go along with it. It looks like there was no boots in that set.

Just in case anyone on that connected realm is reading this... :D

Spallacci Scheletrici Doesn't match perfectly but I really like this with the Battered Sourscale side of this mog.

Why is the preview image model thingy different from the actual look for the chest piece? The model shows that her stomach is covered while in-game it's actually not. Is it just me or something? I kind of prefer how the chest piece looks like on the model/avator on wowhead than how it looks in-game. Overall, this set is one of my favorites.
