The droprate is incorrect. The fact is that alot of people kill these mobs but Blacksmiths are the only people the plans drop to.

Most annoying part of this farming for me was the patrols of Infernal souls and Deathforge Tinkerers. There are plenty of Deathforge Guardians and the Deathforge Summoners go down easy. But killing these pats usually makes me oom and takes alot of time. There also seems to be some kind of trigger that spawns them, not sure about this but didnt seem like ordinary patrols to me.

Now you will hate me, but it dropped to me by the 6th mob, while I was doing the "Minions of the Shadow Council" (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=10582) quest :) Too bad I'm a warrior so no use for the plans, just I can say I'm lucky.

This plan dropped for my party mate, also a blacksmith, after no more than 10 kills and within 3 kills after that it dropped for me. I guess we're lucky or maybe the countless times I had been there solo and with other guildies added up and finally paid off. Now to see if I have the same luck with the rest of the set.

If you have a flying mount it's best to just skip all the mobs and go to very bottom entrance to the cave and go to about 39,40 in the cave and just pull the mobs to you that way you can watch the tinkerer and infernal patrol so they don't kill you while your fighting the guardians if there is summoner's you can pull them and step up on the little ledge of the ramp that your on and they will LOS to you. Solo them all pretty easy as a protection warrior, just took longer. The mobs aren't social mobs so you can play with them in the one spot without having to worry about them aggroing the whole place. I've been killing ton's of them and they have yet to drop the pattern, still going at it though. You just have to have blacksmithing profession to pick them regardless of recipe level. Just wanted to say I've killed 360 of these bastards over the last few days without this dropping. =) I've got over 700 netherweave...sold a hundred or so marks, a few (very few) greens, and some ham and cherry pie. This is the last dropped BS plan I have to grind for (have all the Ragesteel, the other Khorium plans and even the Greater Rune of Shielding). Of course I got the Ragesteel breastplate on literally my first and only kill of the ashtongue warriors, so this must be payback.

I'm going nuts...that is all. Please shower me with your "I got it in 1 kill stories now" =)

I've only spent about an hour grinding these plans. I know how most of you feel with plans not dropping. Its been about a week of spending about 1-2 hours a day trying to get the ragesteel helm. I still haven't gotten this one yet, but the orcs that drop these are very soft for an arms spec warrior, i can go through about 4 of these guys before needing to heal, but do watch out for the damned pats, i thought I was good to go the other day when i took 5 on at once at level 68 and killed them all when all of a sudden i got hit from behind by an Infernal. I suggest getting a high dps class or a healer to be with you to make the kills go by quicker. Thats what I did for the belt and the ragesteel gloves and they seemed to drop farely quick. Hell may do that today =) Itd be nice to finally max out BS, now that im at 365.

Once you've done the quest that gives you the key, a good place to grind this is in the channel blocked off by a portcullis on the left-hand side of the Deathforge proper. As long as you can handle the occasional bad pull and deal with the single summoner, it's a spot with very fast respawns, no elemental/gan'arg patrols, and few double-pulls.

Well, i think last night was y lucky day... i got the 3 plans in 2 hours or so, it take me 30 kills for the boots, like 40 kills for the belt and like 35 kills for the pants...

I dont know if they change the drop rate...

The method of farming in the deathforge that I've worked out goes as follows:

Head to the top entrance to the Forge (it's on the right, the lower entrance is on the left). Wait for the Summoner/Imp patrol to pass the entrance and get out of aggro range, and then kill the Guardians at the top entrance. Make sure it's all clear (no patrols coming out of the lower entrance and no patrols coming up the ramp) and head into the top entrance.

Kill the Guardians that are just inside, and then drop down off of the bridge to your right (there's a guardian standing on the base of a pillar). Make sure, again, that it's free of patrols before you drop down. I've found it easiest to wait until the summoner/imp goes up out of my sight, then I drop. Kill the Guardians up the ramp and then fight them back onto the bridge, where there are 2 more guardians. Miners: There's a fel iron deposit that spawns at the back of that bridge.

At this point, you should have seen a Gan'rag/Vile Soul patrol spawn or go by. Follow them just out of aggro range, and kill the guardians on the way outside of the lower entrance.

Rinse, repeat.

At 5am in the morning took 2hrs and they dropped. No particular pattern, i never went inside any of the cave's, just killed the ones on the ramp, including the ones on top near our tower. Not all that difficult, now i have the complete set, all 3 of them took 2hrs or less to drop

i think the drop rate is correct :S I hunt those mobs without any pause (just 5 hours sleeping/night) for 3 days, and NOTHING. My BS is 360 it cannot be problem

As an added bonus for Blacksmiths trying for Aldor rep, these mobs can also drop Marks of Sargeras and Fel Armaments.

I've found a pretty good farm spot for this plan. Go in the first entrance of the deathforge and go past the bridge and through the Heavy Iron Portcullis, this is the key to open the door https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=30688. When you're in the door there are seven Guardians, one summoner and around 2 infernals. The other mobs are really easy to kill and the guardians have a nice spawn rate. For miners, like myself, adamantite veins have a decent spawn rate as well. Also, if you need to go AFK, there is a wall that you can climb up right after the green flames just past the infernal.

dropped down onto the brdige at deathforge to grab a fel iron deposit, got hit by an infernal patrol, killed it, moved along a few steps and got attacked by a guardian, killed him and he dropped the recipe :D first time i killed one EVER and it dropped the recipe :D

These were the worse part to farm for me, of the 3 sets.
First I spent overall 4 hours+ on these, and today I decided to give it one more try and they dropped after 45 min, finally!

I farmed for the plans for the entire set: Khorium Belt, Khorium Boots and Khorium Pants.

I started farming Deathforge Guardians in Shadowmoon Valley first for the Khorium Pants. I died about 8 times that first night due to getting ambushed repeatedly by multiple mobs that caused lots of fire damage and mobs that disrupted my healing spells. That's okay. I learned some fighting lessons (lol). I farmed for about 4 hours killing a lot of Guardians and Summoners, but the plans didn't drop. I returned a second night and farmed for about another 4 hours, but the plans didn't drop. This time, however, instead of farming near the entrance to the cave, I farmed well away from there at the general grounds around the path leading down to the cave. The Guardians spawned pretty quickly, but the plans didn't drop.

I decided to try for the plans for the Khorium Belt at Sunspring in Nagrand by killing Murkblood Raiders. I farmed for 3 days killing the Raiders and just about everything in camp. I mined some Adamantite veins and earned lots of gold in mob silver and drops. The plans dropped on that 3rd day.

After spending 2 days helping a friend and farming for Motes of Water to make the armor for myself, I went to Netherstorm and farmed for the Khorium Boots by killing Disembodied Protectors. I also farmed for Motes of Mana off of the Mana Wraiths that are across the road from the Disembodied Protectors. It was a win-win area for me to farm. After 2 days of farming (4 hours total), the plans dropped.

An hour after the plans for the boots dropped in Netherstorm, I returned to Shadowmoon Valley to get the plans for the pants. After about 30 minutes there (8 guardians killed), the plans dropped.

So, from start to finish, it took me one week of farming 2 to 4 hours per night after work to get all 3 plans for the set.

I can now craft the entire set on Medivh. Contact Zaki, if you want any or all of the set. Bring your mats, and I'll craft for free until I level to 375.

The game doesnt give pref to the player with the profession
it works much like the quest item looting system, eg if you have the right quest{profession) you will be able to loot it, otherwise you cant see them

only on BoP plans and the like, BoE is still rolle for, prevents ninjas =P

Keep in mind that the dop percentage is affected insofar as only blacksmiths can get it...most likely a few percent ie 1/50 mobs than the one in 500 the figures would lead you to believe

It took me 105 kills to get these plans.... Shadow Moon Valley kill Doomsforge Guardsman at Deathforge(38/36). I'm a 70 Holy pally... be prepared to grind for a while. Good Luck

Must be nice to get it so quickly. It dropped on my 467th kill. If you go through the same thing, don't get discouraged, it's a straight up easy fight with these guys, and they don't drop much in the way of gray items, so your bags won't get full of junk. It's nice that they drop plenty in of Aldor rep items, as well as netherweave cloth. Safe hunting, and hang in there!

I"m a protection warrior, and yes I'm griding this plans to help my bs, got the belt plan in nagrand since lv 65, so I decide to get the full set. there are 7 or 8 death forge guardian inside those 2 caves, I just don like the fire element pat with 2 helpers, there's no where to run and I can't kill them fast enough

At level 70 I've been stuck at 360 blacksmithing for quite a while now. I have all 3 ragesteel patterns, a couple of the felsteel patterns and an epic Steelgrip Gauntlets patterns. All of them require 365+ and I couldn't see burning tons of Primal Fire/Primal Water to create the Flamebane recipes. This is when I decided to farm these patterns. At level 70 it took me about 2.5 hours to obtain all three. Here is where they drop:

Belt: Murkblood Raiders - Nagrand
Pants: Deathforge Guardian - Shadowmoon Valley
Boots: Disembodied Protector - Netherstorm

The longest pattern to farm was the boots. The Protectors are spread out over an area with dips and cracks in the ground. A flying mount lets you hop over the areas easier. If you have a Deathforge Key, take the cave all the way to the back end and farm a small area full of Guardians. They dropped a lot of Marks of Sargeras too. And Nagrand was pie at level 70. Just have to compete with people trying to do the quest there.

Its been 300 kills and I still don't have these plans. I am a prot warrior and just LFG while waiting for these to drop. :/ It really is not worth it but if you are bored and just want to wait out for groups and kill time it is surely a way to KILL time.

190th kill, wasn't too bad for a 70 fury war, mobs died fast and dropped enough cloth to keep my bandage stock higher than it needed to be. Aldor rep items galore as well. GL farming!

Just got the plans on my ~500th (+-30) kill, as a 67 paladin. I hadn't done any quests in the area and my armorsmithing skill was below requirement.

I was about to give up on my search, thinking I needed to do something special first to make them drop, but decided to stick around for another 30mins and viola! plans dropped. So hang in there!

don't wanna rub it in or anything but... I got the belt while lvling to 70.... got the pants after 2 kills and the boots after 15 min or so.... bobaric on area 52 can make full set (horde)

Dropped for me last week on the 3rd kill. Saw a khorium mine in the cave and went in after it.
Perhaps just trying a few kills each day or each hour is a better approach.

I've been farming for these plants as a prot pally. At the deathforge in SMV killing deathforge gaurdians. I found it easies to gather up about 5 of them. Pull them to one spot alone consecrate , seal of wisdom, and keep consecrating them and it is fast and effective. so far ive gotten about 50g a few greens lots of marks, and a few fel armaments. GL

Edit: I'm not superstitious or anything, but be damned if I didn't get the plans 10 minutes after posting! Try it sometime and you'll be surprised!

Still grinding this pattern for about 7 hours now and where i got other people killing them for the quests i tried to find a good spot to grind it...

i found that if you go near Warbringer Razuun there are 5 Guardians the Warbringer and one summoner, just keep grinding them till it drops but bring lots of supplies if you're gonna spend hours down there...

Will make it on Aszune for anybody that wants it whenever i get it but i hope i get it soon cause im bored of grinding the same mobs ^_^

I have been farming these guys for about 3 hours now, no luck yet but got 2 blues and some nice greens. Watch out for the patrolling tinkerer groups that drop the land mines, they can be a pain when you're already engaged with 3 mobs and their little grp of 3 rolls up.. makes it interesting =) I'm going to keep at it until I get these plans. Hopefully this year sometime. >.>

After 40 or so kills I finally completed the entire Khorium ward.
and I reached Lvl 70 for the first time. Now I will have the pain to farm primals and level blacksmith.

This is a nice area to grind tho. The Keathforge Guardians are all around inside and outside the deathforge. (If you go inside, just be careful not to agro any of the other mobs and waste your time. Also, there are good Adamantite spawns here.

Been farming these for about three weeks 2-5 hours a week. No drops at all. Got a mere 5 greens, no blues, and a whole lot of Marks. Only one fel, and I'm hoping that after posting this I'll be able to obtain the plans as some of you others have done! Enjoy

I can't believe how lucky I was when I got these. I used my flying mount and flew into the Deathforge landing on a high up platform and the plans dropped after 3 kills! I went there to grind for these plans expecting a good couple of hours of grinding and ended up with them after 5 minutes.

70 kills tonight which seems to put me about average I reckon. lots of netherweave cloth and the usual marks of sargeras.

Not the quickest grind for a warrior and I'm lvl 69 arms fury spec. Was probably needing to eat after every 5-6 kills.

well i posted for the boots and after 4 days of grinding i wasnt looking forward to the grind for the pants when out of the blue 15 kills in i got the drop...I killed four warlocks and 1/2 a dozen tinkers with their fire guards and it dropped .. the Exact Co-Ords where 39.38 inside the right hand side of the death forge.
