This guy is level 24 with (1) level 24 minion and (1) level 17 minion with plenty of other level 24 demons about too.

You'll find him around 24,60 - just behind the mountains south of the Shrine of Aessina. There will be a pass that will take you into the mountain where he is.

I solo'd this as a 23 human pally, it was pretty hard. Didn't die but healed a few times and used protection.

Has a lvl 24 or so succubus pet and also summons 2 level 17 voidwalkers, not to mention that there are 2 (level 23 or 24) felslayers that seem to be linked to him. Either come with 2 people, a bit higher level and recommended, or pull a felslayer, kill it super fast, reset him and then do the same with him. Those are probably the best options.

Sap Illkrud --> Kill Minion --> Kll Illkrud (He summons Succubusses) retain Attackpower on Illkrud and vanish/fein Death as he dies the Succubusses will die.

i did it alone... i didnt have any trouble... i pulled the felslayers wandering next to him one at a time and then i sent in my pet to pull him and his minions away from the big demon standing behind him... took me maybe two minutes in all... i think i was lvl 22 or 23...

I just did this quest as a 22 Hunter. The area to get to him is mostly level 22 - 24 demons. The area to get to him is shaped like a "U". You can come in either end of this but the path up the hill to him is at the bottom of the "U". The patrols are singles with an occasional felhound and felguard pair. I just used a freeze trap on the pairs with my pet on passive and pulling both to me and freezing one. Once you start up the short hill path, there is a felguard at the top. He is not linked to anything and you can pull him down the path safely. Go to the top of the path and look at the camp area where you will find the boss in the middle and his succubus next to him. In front of him on each side is a felhound (fellslayer is the name I think). They are NOT linked to anything. Wait until each one paths as far from the boss and just range pull each one back near the top of the path you just came up. Now you are faced with just the boss warlock and the succubus. I laid a freeze trap at my feet, hunter's mark on the boss, and sent my pet onto the Succubus next to the boss. I poured everything I had onto the boss and killed him as he summoned 2 voidwalkers. The succubus was at half health and so was my pet so I focused fire on her as 1 of the voidwalkers hit the freeze trap. The voidwalkers do very little damage so I ingnored the remaining one until the succubus was dead. The pet immediately attacked the voidwalker on me and I wing clipped it and ran to range. We killed it and the one just breaking out of the trap. My pet was at half health and so was I. There was no need to bandage or use a pot for me during the fight. I realize that every class fights differently, this is just a post to let you know what to expect when you do it. Good luck and stay safe.

Just did this with a level 27 gnome mage, killed him after pulling the dogs etc., then his retinue killed me as I tried to run with the goodies. Other than that it wasn't too bad, with a friend I would have been ok.

I soloed it as a 22 druid but i died almost 5 times before i got it he is a level 24 with a 24 minion and during the fight he summons 2 level 17 voidwalkers all i did was go in cat form and healed while he was sumoning but i just killed him befor i died its not easy i sugest to bring a friend

As a Hunter you can use your pet to tank him and the voidwalkers he summons, while keeping his succubus in a Freezing Trap.

As a Priest you can fear him and his succubus when he starts summoning. Use Power Word: Shield if you need to heal.

As a Mage you can Polymorph him, kill his succubus and Counterspell his summoning if needed.

As a Warlock you can use your Voidwalker to tank them, Sacrifice him before he dies, and finish Ilkrud quickly. If you're level 28 you can also Banish his succubus but you probably won't need it.

As a Warrior you can use Shield Bash to interrupt his casting(if it works) or use Intimidating Shout after he summons, since chances are he'll just start casting again after it wears off if you interrupted him with it.

As a Rogue you can Sap him and kill his succubus, use Gouge or Kick to interrupt his summonning and Evasion if you can't kill him before he summons. After you kill him you can just Vanish.

As a Paladin you can interrupt him with Hammer of Justice. You can also use Blessing of Protection and heal if you need to.

As a Druid you can use Bash and Feral Charge to interrupt him. A druid on this level wouldn't be able to heal with anything other than Rejuvenation unless talented with Nature's Focus.

Edit: I remember that back when I posted this, this guy was actually a challenge for me. I wonder whether I was (more of) a noob or the game was actually tougher.

This quest is trivial for a rogue.

Stealth past the various demons until you get to the ramp leading up to the shrine. There will be two lesser felguards along the path to the top; best to kill them just in case. There will be two felhounds near Ilkrud that can be pulled alone if timed right.

Sap Ilkrud and take on the succubus; backstab if you have daggers, cheap shot if you've gotten the skill. She has very little hp's and dies quickly.

Now, for Ilkrud. I opened with a backstab and tried to kick him when he summoned minions, but that didn't work. Gouge works, but Ilkrud immediately begins casting again, so you're still likely to get his demons. They're only level 17, though, and easily killed.

ok im a level 25 druid and i found this incredibly easy, i took out the guards leading up ther one by one, then took out sabbusus, then the main boss. he summoned the blue guys but they never done no damage to me as i was bear form by that ime.

Found it quite easy, just enter the base go around the camp and up the hill, I am a lvl 24 holy paladin no trouble at all.

One of the easy quests I ever did. Soloed as level 24 druid.

Then justt Clawed succubus. No heals and I killed fast so he didn't summon Voidwalkers. His minion and him got me to 25%

Soloed as a 22 Rogue, rather easy compared to the comments I'd read:

1. Solo pull each Felslayer by ranging them when they are farthest away.
2. Sapped Magthrull
3. Kill his Succubus.
4. Bandaged, still had time to get in a backstab.
5. Pop evasion when the Void-spawn are summoned first thing, hardly needed tho.
6. Kick his first shadow-bolt.
7. Kick his 2nd shadowbolt. He's dead.
8. Finish off his void spawn.
Done with 58% hp left.

Easy quest. As a hunter, I just sent my pet on the "boss", trapped the succubus and killed the warlock off, he didn't even summon the voidwalkers. The Succubus do not desummon when he dies, for those curious.

As hunter all I did was send my pet in to kill one of the felslayers, and I went in to Ilkrud himself. He died really quickly (as I was lvl 28 at the time lol) and I then killed the other felslayer...it was only when I was leaving the area did I notice his succumbus and kill her...just set my pet to passive and ran after that, couldn't be bothered to kill anything else.

Completed this as a lvl 23 Warrior (Fury/DW).

After pulling the felslayers with my bow, he accidently got the drop on me, but I was able to drop him right as he summoned his guards. Straight away, cast Intimidating Shout and dropped the Succubus. I popped a health pot then, but may not have needed it as the void walkers were pretty easy to drop.

Ilkrud is a lv. 24 orc warlock with a succubus minion.
He's south from the small group of mountains on your map, near the Shrine of Aessina.
When you see felslayers and lesser felguards, then you'll know you've found the place. Or when the screen starts turning green/red background.
Turn to a small path inside the Fire Scar Shrine and he'
ll be there with 2 felslayers in front of him. One of the right and left.

You can pull the felslayers one by one without drawing agrro on him. As a NE warrior, I only needed to take out 1, but you can take out both of them just to be safe.

When you try and kill him, using certain spell-interupting on him or CC abilites on his succubus can help. I've never seen the succubus try to put you to sleep. but perhaps I killed it too fast.

After you kill him, loot his body for the tome. You can turn the quest in where you first got it: Maestra's Post.

The mob you have to kill has a succubus out when you engage him, and will summon two more voidwalkers if you allow him to cast Ilkrud's Guardians. I suggest you use whatever your class has to offer to prevent his summoning of these adds, just to keep things easy ;-)

just finished wit a lvl25 rouge. EASY! just pull the felslayers wit ranged when they are furthest from him then go in and focus all attention on him. When I killed him all I had to do was vanish and his demon disappeared

This quest sucked. I just did it on my 25 shammy...and since the other person couldn't give any advice about shammies, STONECLAW TOTEM IS YOUR FRIEND. So is Searing Totem. I let my Searing Totem take care of his succubus and when the voidwalkers came up they went for the Stoneclaw Totem. After that, I made sure and did Flame Shock and Frost Shock so he would have some damage over time then beat him / Earth Shocked him to death after that. I killed him just as my Stoneclaw Totem went out, so I dropped another one, looted him, then hit ghost wolf and ran for my life.

The two Felslayers around him are easy to pull without aggroing him, just wait until they're at their farthest point from him.

Ok, since this isn't posted yet...

The path from The Shrine of Aessina is located at coords 24.9, 50.5. This will gently curve around and lead you into the Fire Scar area.

Once in Fire Scar, go around until you get to 25.5, 63.0. THIS is the path up to Ilkrud.

Took me forever to find it since the coords weren't posted. While I have done this quest on two other toons, it has been forever and I had forgotten.

Hope this is helpful to others.

Just did this on my 22 shaman. Took a few tries, but i found out the way to do it without getting butthurt.

no you can't earthshock the summon spell

1) kill the things around him
2) lightning bolt him, then stay alive until he summons his guardians
3) run like heck, get him to reset asap

4) get back to him and drink, put down totems, etc. his guardians should still be out.
5) drop a stoneclaw then run in and engage him before his guardians go away. Time it well and they should disappear after beating up your stoneclaw.
he shouldn't summon anything this time.

earthshock a few shadowbolts and you might win.

Did it 24 lvl NE druid balance.
1. Clear area
2. Root succubus
3. Spam Starfire+Moonfire to burn down Ilkrud Magthrull from max distance, don't pay attention to minions
4. Shadowmeld, adds despawn.
5. Pick up quest stuff.

Solod as a level 21 Feral Druid.

Pulled all of the mobs nearby one by one in cat form using Faerie Fire to pull em.

Then I put on a a healing over time spell, cast Bear Form and used Enrage. Next, go straight up to Ilkrud and start attacking. Keep your rage above 10 at all times and when he starts to cast the spell Ilkrud's Minions, cast Bash to stop his spellcast (you'll want to go to Interface options and turn casting bars on. This is just something that everyone should have activated no matter what).

Use a healing pot if you have one when your health starts to wane, and if worst comes to worst and you don't have Survival Instincts, cast out of Bear Form and heal yourself fast. Good idea not to let your health fall below 1/4 or 1/3 for this reason, since the knockback from two enemies can hurt.

I managed to finish him off right when he was about to finish casting Ilkrud's Minions for the second time, so I did not have to fight the Voidwalkers. Then I easily finished off the succubus and took the tome.

Potions, Bash, and Survival Instincts if possible and this is easy enough for any level 21 and possibly 20 feral druid.

I don't know about you guys... but I had absolutely no problems with this quest.

I didn't even do anything fancy. Sounds like he got a bit easier or i was incredibly lucky :x soloed with a 23 feral druid in heirloom shoulders/chest piece. I stacked both my HoTs on myself, stealthed, and shredded. Then ripped, and clawed him to death. Then I took down his succy, looted his book, and was on my way :)

Solo'd this as a lv. 21 hunter, basically when I reached the guy, I killed one of the dog things, then killed the other one. Afterwards had my pet attack the succubs and I began to shot him. His attention was on me and he just shot me with shadobolt, and he never had time to call his other demons. Killed him then my pet killed the succubs and i hearthed. Happy hunting.
