When finishing this quest the NPC Aman spawns and gives you a warning "Be warned that even your creators are falliable". There's no followup quest, unfortunately.

The fossil is a random drop, but I found it one a mottled screecher. Had to kill maybe 12 other raptors before it dropped.

I confirm with Henryk about the fossil...its in the cave sitting on the ground at Whelgars Excavation Site at the top of the hill where other lvl 25-28 raptors are. The entrance to the Excavation Site is at coords. 35.42. As soon as you enter the site look to your left and you'll see a road that goes up hill that leads you to the cave.

I was able to get the stone from a mottled screecher close to coords 26.46

At the close of this quest, the following dialogue is presented:

Archaeologist Flagongut begins to manipulate the Stone of Relu over the two fossils.
Archaeologist Flagongut says: By the stars! A spirit has been summoned!
Aman says: Who hath summoned forth Aman?
Aman says: Ah, I see you toil with relics of the past.
Aman says: Be warned that even your creators are fallible.
Aman says: Digging too deep into your past might bring an abrupt end to your future.
Aman dissipates before your eyes.
Archaeologist Flagongut says: It's a mystery of the past indeed! But a key to our future!

Makes one wonder what foreshadowing the devs are throwing out there....

I got the Stone of Relu at /way 29 43 in wetlands. I got it on the first molted screecher I killed. Get the quest from the dude up at the cave, kill the raptors while looking for the stone, it will really help you out.

26,46, then look toward the mountain where the screetchers are huddled together. Thats where I found mine right away, but you may need to pull them one at a time.

I got the stone of relu after 9 kills at the site with my lvl 66 druid (i did this q so late to get an exalted state with IF) A certain lvl does not influence a droprate.

I recommend killing the Mottled Screechers for the Stone of Relu because they will give you more money on the drop than the other NPC's that drop the Stone of Relu. But the Mottled Raptor will give a higher drop rate. Its your choice.

My lvl 20 druid did this quest. I received the stone on the 4th raptor I killed, and I managed avoiding any aggro of the lvl 25+ raptors near the excavation site. My suggestion would be to set your hearthstone to Menethil Bay and just teleport back there once you get the fossil. Curse's QuestHelper suggested being lvl 24 for this quest, but with the Midsummer's Bonfire buff, this was an easy task at lvl 20.

I did this one as a lvl 22 Nightelf druid. This quest is simply not worth the time and effort; after 30 + kills, still no drops. I have abandoned it and chosen to move on to better quests. Blizzard really needs to rethink this quest for better chances of drops. I as a player don't have the patience for this nonsense.

I agree with the last post here, this quest line is just not worth all of the trouble: a difficult escort quest that probably needs at least two players, travel to another part of the world, walking back and forth a couple of times to a remote area and a terrible drop rate on a relic, all for a choice between two level 12-13 weapons!

Took me about 70 kills ( 25 minutes ) to drop the Stone of Relu as a level 25 druid.

Hmm, took me about 30min and 60+ kills. The exp is nice, but if you don't want to spend 30min-45min farming Raptors, don't do it. The drop rate of this Relic is ridiculous to be honest!

Descrizione

Prospector Whelgar now holds the original fossil at his site in the Wetlands. When I discovered the Stone of Relu, I believed it to be the key to unlocking the mystery of the fossil.

While I traveled on the road to meet Whelgar, I was attacked by raptors and the relic was lost. I don't know which one of the mottled beasts swallowed the relic but if you can retrieve it, I can unleash the power of these artifacts.

Bring me both the Stone of Relu, and the original fossil he holds.
