As of 2.0.4, this quest gives 250 Thorium Brotherhood rep.

The entrance into the right part of the Slag Pit is around 49,46 (I recommend jumping down from the top) After clearing a few lvl 46-47 mobs, this guy will be on a kind of balcony with two level 48-49 elites. He himself is a 50 elite.

Be careful, the guy crits for 450-480 on plate (no shield), and the other two elite are pretty tough too.

I had trouble finding this myself so I thought I'd be specific.

He can be found inside a cave called the Slag Pit. It's the second cave from the left. Once inside work your way in and turn left when you see a gate. There will be a winding ramp up and soon enough you'll see a balcony with Overseer Maltorius and his adds. It's at about 40,36, don't mistake this co-ordinate for the same area above ground.

When I did this quest I found a rare spawn but he's pretty easy to take down so I took him down first. There are two ways to go about doing this, one is to keep them scattered and focus dps on one, and the other is to use a form of CC and focus dps on one. I would recommend taking out each of the two guards before moving on to the Overseer as he has about 14,000HP and hits pretty hard.

Behind him is the plans for the quest "What the Flux?". If you're just after that you could fear them all, run in, get the plans and jump out.

The easiest way to find him: go to 48-44 on left side of tower, then drop down go in to tunnel, veer to the left and there he is. He hits pretty hard and uses polymorph. Did this quest with 56 pally and 54 warrior and was still tough. With a good dps and healer shouldnt be too much of a problem.

As a Priest at level 51, I simply mind controlled the overseer and let his guard slap him around for 1 minute. When mind control faded, the overseer had 4% health left, so I simply feared, killed the overseer, looted the plans and ran away.

48 demonology (5 points in improved corruption, so i didnt have a felguard :( ) lock solo... wouldve been easier if i was affliction...

anyways, take ur main out, kill the 2 body guards, log onto ur char thats doing it, and kick his heinie.

WARLOCK STRATEGY
in the means of lock, take your succ out after the 2 guards are down. u can then keep him feered and add in some DoT's. Make sure you keep ur succ whipping him up, however, you should bandage urself after hes fully loaded with DoT's. If he resists the fear, use death coil, then cast feer at him again.

Solod this on my lvl 48 Affliction Warlock.

The guards don't respawn until you kill the Overseer, so you can kill one, get out of combat (you can jump down at the right onto a platform where they can't reach) and go back up and kill another so you're left alone with the Overseer.

First guard I took down by drain tanking it, while fearing the other guard and seducing the overseer. Second guard the same, and after that I just feared and dotted the overseer to death (make sure you clear the room in front of it so you don't get adds).

This guy is very tough as a melee type. His guards were easy enough to kill, but even at 55 I had to use a pot and get lucky with a netherweave bandage in order to solo him. He bubbles, DoTs, and hits very hard in melee, and has quite a bit of life. Bring a healer if you are melee. Don't let the +2 level difference fool you, he's about 5x harder than his guards.

did this quest with a friend, pala retri. He was 48, i was 53 (fire mage). Still was tought, sheep him and killed adds, then, kill him.
He does lots of damage ranged and melee and he sheeps, so be careful

Actually, and this might have changed with the patch, Maltorius is lvl 50 but not Elite. And he only has one Bodyguard who is lvl 48 and not Elite either. But he does cast the nasty shadow spells mentioned before. However, I soloed this as a lvl 47 hunter without breaking a sweat.

No longer an elite and i just soloed it as a 49 BM hunter. Not very hard at all. I only had the Overseer and 1 add with him, not 2 as some have said. Might just be this once though.

And also when I was there, I saw non of the companions of him. i just saw one level 48 lookout with him

extremely easy mob. Everyone made it sound so hard. Im a lvl 47 frost mage, killed one gaurd, while other was sheeped, and just took his shadow balls. Ran outta combat, killed the other the same way. Then just easily DPS'ed him down, didnt take one shot form him. Very easy.

I'm not sure what is going on in this thread but I wandered around for about a half hour trying to follow this advice and it was terrible.

I finally disregarded the advice here and went in the far RIGHT cave, over a small bridge, then on the left there is the balcony with him and the flux plans on it.

Lol, I remember when this used to be tough. As of 2.0.4 They removed both the eliteness and one of his adds. Soloed at 47. Sheep boss, kill add, kill boss. Done.

Easiest way to get to him: Ride due south from the flypoint. You'll come to a patch of stone with a square hole in it and a chain hanging down. Jump down onto the stone block hanging there, then to the ground. Follow the chamber west to a ramp, go up the ramp to the right go into the big room at the top of ramp. Boss is around the wall to the right.

I'd combine this quest with Culling the Competition, Incendisaurs, and the other Maltorius quest for the plans.

I soloed this at a lvl 48 Hunter... but I havnt trained since 46... I had ressurection sickness getting up to him and still did fine. I think thats partially because Hunters are great soloers... if you are a Hunter with a pet with at least 2.5K health this will be swift and easy...

As of patch 2.4 he is no Longer an Elite and only has one Guard... I took them both out with pet but for Rouge or somehting without the power of a Pet... I would recomend some type of CC.

Right behind him is the Plans for Flux quest as stated above.

Advice here is shocking.

Pull up your map, stand ABOVE the far right cave, drop down onto the ledge and enter it, you will know you are in the right part when there is a bridge with a single mob on it, leading into a room with alot more mobs.

CLEAR most of this room, i ran through it and HAD to fear the two adds on the boss and it pulled around 5 more, luckily because of the fear i looted the plans behind him and managed to kill him.

I dropped off this ledge and had to run back round though, so it made it a lot longer and harder for me to do.

i soloed it as a 50 lvl warrior using sweeping strikes and cleave thus hitting both the add and the overseer.i started with the add.(could have also used retaliation)
the thing is that sweeping strikes is a skill for arms spec warriors so i don't know how it would work for fury or protection

Done as lvl 45 enhance shaman, was extremely easy depending on your definition of easy. Killed his add right away, then let the overseer kill me. Reincarnated, buffed up, got ready to fight. Dropped grounding totem right away and went in without any other totems. Pretty straight forward, doesn't melee very hard, earth/wind shock every shadowbolt with grounding picking up the resisted/missed shocks, purge his bubble, easy.

Just did with 48 lock. Soulstoned myself, set voidwalker on Overseer, fought his add until his health was low, then feared the add. As i thought he would he ran away, and pulled others, w8ed til they were all there, my void had Overseer pretty low now, (i cast corruption, Curse of agony and immolate on him at start), then cast hellfire, killing the add, and killing me. (One of the other 2 the add pulled when feared may have got a hit in on me to kill me, not sure u can kill urself with hellfire). When the other 2 pulled left because i was dead, i ressed with my SS, and killed Overseer with Life drain and shadow bolt, looted him 4 head and left

If you're going with a priest, early in the slag pit you can just drop the attacking mobs in lava with mind control. Those !@#$%^&s will just simply stand there stunned by your awesomeness.... saves you seconds of fight too.

I don't know why no one has give the coordinates for the hole yet - but it's at 34,42. Use some method of slowing the fall if you have it.

If you make a wrong turn (as I did) after going up the ramp, you'll be in the "bedroom" for the new quest where you steal the pillows. After stealing them, continue on thru to the next room. As you do, you'll be heading in the right direction for Overseer. He's straight ahead of you on the other side of the wall.

I soloed it as 48 rogue very easy just use sap to guard next to him and kill him and then loot plans
