You must complete this part of the quest in order to finish it. There is some stuff at the End you DO NOT HAVE TO BUY as long as you have another friendly warlock with the items. The ITEMS you DO NOT have to buy at the VERY END are the Jar, the Glyphs, and the Lodestone.

I just did this quest on 23 May, 2007 and I only had to give 3 Black Dragonscales, not 35...was it a change in the patch? Or did I have a weird glitch?

Confirm the previous post. As of The Black Temple Patch 2.10 the number is now 3!

p.s. I laughed at my friend cause a day before the patch he finished all 35 and a day after the patch I only had to AH 3! He wasted like 80G over 2 days difference.

Note: You will now only need ONE Arcanite Bar instead of 3 for the http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=7630 quest - so only bring 1 Arcanite with you instead of 3.

Ok. I have been killing in the burning steppes for 2 days now and have yet to see one Black Dragonscale drop.
Did they change it to where they do not drop from the mobs outside of Black Rock?? Have they been changed to where they are a skinner only??

fought all over burning steppes, no scales for over 1 hour. I finally got all 3 scales at 36.47. Make sure you have a skinner with you if you cannot skin. Very time consuming quest (over 2 hours!)

I was skinning all of the Dragon type mobs in Burning Steppes for about 40 minutes with no success. Then got 3 black dragonscales within 4 kills.

Something handy to note if you have a 70 skinner friend or get a small group together just farm the first few dragons in UBRS they have a nice skin rate, I killed the 5 of them twice and had all 3.

As of patch 3.0.3 this is no longer needed for the Felsteed. I just wonder if the quest chain was removed or not? Can anyone find that out?

No longer available as of 31 Oct 2010 (not sure when it was taken out). I assume the same goes for the Wheel and the Bell (I have completed these so I can't check) and the rest of the chain. No more FoS :(

Containing that fire is not easy, and requires the essence within the scales of a black dragon. Acquire those scales from a skinner and bring them to Gorzeeki Wildeyes.]
