If you're of the patient type, you can simply wait 5 minutes or so in a tower after blowing it up and the mark will respawn, so you can blow it up again. Saves time getting past the elites at the entrances to the towers when you're soloing it.

This quest is easy as pie with a priest. Solo or in a group - just shackle the elites, run in kill the single non-elite (if there is one - the abomination types just need the single shackle) and set the bomb - run out and reshackle the elite to give you room to run. Lather - rinse - repeat.

Well i guess your best option if you are soloing is to stay and wait the mark to respawn... (respawn time is about 3 minutes) As a level 60 rogue (with sucky gear), i found it a bit difficult... The elite can see you even if you are stealthed. He resists stun effects...and he slows you. If you vanish near him he can see you! I don't know how.. i managed to run in and stay away from him and then i vanished. I killed the non elite and blow up the mark, and then just waiting to respawn. I died once the first time. The non elite will respawn too :) so be careful

Also soloable with pally: Use turn undead on the elite protector, run in, kill the non-elite. By this time, the elite will get back, turn it again, place the bomb. If you run into trouble, use HoJ, bubble, whatever.

I went into the main "slaughterhouse" style building and stood in the center of a patroling abomination. You can just stand in the center and he won't get you, I sat there, put down a bomb, waited for the mark to respawn and did it again, took a little while but it was easy and I didn't even have to fight anything.

There are at least 6 locations around Plaguewood. Each one is marked on the map. here are a few entry locations that I found while doing this quest.

43:27 Entrance - Guarded by a Ghoul 58 Elite ~17000HP - Detects Stealth - Stationary Mob
33:31 Entrance - Guarded by a Abomination 58 Elite ~15000HP - Detects Stealth - Patroling Mob - More 58 non elites inside that wont aggro to get to the marker.
40:40 Entrance - Guarded by a Ghoul 58 Elite ~17000HP - Detects Stealth - Stationary Mob
27:34 Entrance - Guarded by a Ghoul 58 Elite ~17000HP - Detects Stealth - Stationary Mob
24:25 Entrance - Guarded by a Ghoul 58 Elite ~17000HP - Detects Stealth - Stationary Mob

I believe there is at least 1 more location at 35:18, but I have not been there so I don't know what guards it or the exact location. It took 2 people for us to do this and it was just doable, Shadow Priest and Feral Druid (tank) both level 57.

Method of just sitting there and taking out the markers as they respawn is cool, but I wouldn't do it if it's not a ghoul protecting due to the Abomination patrols inside, the markers seems to respawn 3x as fast as the mob inside and the protector at the entrance.

Note: Shadow Priest was popping trinkets and pots to keep the tank up for long enough to down the mob. He can hit quite hard.

tank had 7200 armour, nearly 6000HP and over 300 defense, Priest had over 5000 mana.

Another easy way to do this quest is to shackle/blind/stun/whatever the elite guarding the door, then as soon as you run in jump into the green slime/water and get as far away from the side as possible. this will cause the elite and normal mobs to evade and reset. then jump back on the ground, kill the non-elite and place the bomb.

As of 2.3, the guards are no longer elite and the quest can easily be soloed. I did it as a 70, where I wouldn't have had any problems with elites as well. Only the decapitation buff is annoying...

In the end I was a bit disappointed that the quest didn't yield any Argent Dawn reputation.

I must say that using the same tower multiple times is the best way to do it even though the mobs are no longer elite

I found it best to stay at the slaughterhouse located at 32,30. There is only one guy that repawns like once every 5 minutes. He's a level 58 regular ogre. It was really easy to stay in this one spot I got all 8 here. Really Really easy quest!

While you are there I would try to do this quest with 'Defenders of Darrowshire'. Nice way to kill two birds with one stone.

Respawn rate on the mark is 3 minutes. "Protector" mob respawns in 6 minutes, and is a non-elite level 58 as of 2.3. Easily soloed as a 55 prot/ret Paladin.

Don't know exactly which patch it was implemented in (probably 2.4.0) but I just recieved 14330xp at level 63 along with 1g 80s.

There are 7 total unique structures and the quest requires 8, you will have to go multiple times in the same place.

Ok so some conflicting information here - to clear it up if you want to do the quest quickly - without waiting for the mark to re-spawn and arn't lazy! I suggest you start by detonating the green dots on the mini map around the lake to stratholm - travel a little south at either end - thats all your zuggerats - the slaughter houses - of which I found two (to the 6 zuggers 4 around the lake and two at each end) look like a grey mass on the mini map and were placed closely to the zuggers, so unmissable - they arnt the ones with big caldrons they are the ones with a stitched golem in them down a flight of stairs.

Correct coordinates to entrances - (give or take a bit) using tomtom are - 36.4, 33.1 39.4,22.9 33.8,15.3 29.8, 20.3 25.0, 20.3 29.5, 26.3 20.0, 18.0 23.4, 30.3

[Travel to Plaguewood, northwest of Light's Hope. Destroy 8 Scourge Structures by using Smokey's Special Compound at the Mark of Detonation planted inside each building. Smokey has had the Ziggurats and Slaughterhouses marked.

Once you plant the bomb, leave the building and marvel at your handiwork.

By the way, Smokey's Special Compound is rather... unstable.]

Here's the plan: I'm going to give you ten sticks of my special compound. You're going to take them over to Plaguewood and plant them inside the Scourge structures that I've had marked for detonation.
