By doing only this quest does not lead you to the next of the chain(http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=5742) you have to finish ALL of the 3 killing quests he gives... then he'll be impressed enough to tell you his grandpa tale.

If you kill Carrion Devourer (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=8605) on the north side, the drop rate is much better, and they drop 2 of them.

There's a small trench just south of Northpass Tower that has several carrion devourers in it. It's a good spot, but watch out for Borelgore.

You can find a very high concentration of carrion devourers just south of Northpass Tower, in a small trench. But be careful, that region's within Borelgore's patrol area.

I've found that the Carrion Grubs below Light's Hope and infront of Tyr's Hand seem to have a crazy high drop rate as well. I went from getting one every 6+ kills to one from about 80% of the mobs in that little area.

I found this quest very easily as a level 53 hunter.
Kill the worms around where you got the quest. I got an awesome droprate for them.
Here are the final results for myself.

Seriously? Dude, have some of mine! I'm a hunter-chef--I'm always making something and there's plenty of it! I have a ton of dumplings...I'll leave some for you. Hell, I'll leave it all and I'll just go get more for myself...don't worry about me. But I wouldn't mind sleeping indoors...camping in the Plaguelands is kind of scary. o_O

Why does this quest make me feel like I'm in the middle of a WoW version of Meals-On-Wheels? If there were an option to stock Tirion's cupboards for the next year, no, the next decade, this man would never go hungry. Ever. But I guess being a banished hermit in the middle of EPL leaves you with limited food options. It's really rather amazing that he never caught the Scourge plague from whatever it was he was eating before the grubs. Blech.

Could you assist an old man with a simple task? Around here, the only manner of beast unaffected by the ravages of the Plague are the Carrion worms. While rather bland in taste, the meat of the worms can easily be preserved to last for months. I will need several hundred pounds to restock for the coming winter!
