This in my opinion is the best Leatherworking path for Hunter Leatherworkers. This is the dependency that a lot of the Mail items in Leatherworking requires. The quests to get Dragonscale Leatherworking are hard but well worth it. Peter Gralen is located in Azshara and will start you with the first quests to obtain Dragonscale LW.

A good place to farm Dragonscales are in the Badlands, by where all the dragons patrol. I think it's the fastest way to get them besides having to buy them in the Auction House.

Another good place to obtain worn dragonscale if you are level 49 or above is around Onyxia's Lair in Dustswallow Marsh. You can circle her lair, clearing out dragonkin as you go, and harvest a ton of thick leather, heavy leather, and of course worn dragonscale.

I am a level 229 leatherworker now but i din't got a quest like i did with my main his Engineering.

Do i just need to go to the guy and he got's a quest for me?

What about the sales? Can you really sell the items that this dragonscale hability gives to you? With the BC out there I guess that mail armor like dragonscale ones are pretty outdated, aren't they?

I was thinking about get Tribal LW instead, to reach the new Shamans on the alliance (although I haven't seen many yet)... still kinda confused here!

I managed to farm all the worn dragonscale I needed on a single run to Sunken Temple. If you're in a group that's patient and has no other skinners, make sure to skin all the dragonkin you kill on your way to Jammal'an/Eranikus. If you've got quests there, why not?

As of the 18th of May 2007 WoWhead is reporting that this quest requires level 49, however I just accepted the quest at level 40.

If you are looking for Scorpid Scales to make Tough Scorpid Breastplate www.wowhead.com/?item=8203 and Tough Scorpid Gloves www.wowhead.com/?item=8204 i suggest you go to Tanaris and kill the Scorpids there and skin them. The chance to skin them there are on 40%.

Best Places to farm for the Materials:

Scorpid Scales - Tanaris. There are Scorpids everywhere. The closer to Gadgetzan, the lower level they are. However, this could be more dangerous if you're on a pvp server. If you want to play it safe, you may want to ride further south away from town towards some of the higher level scorpid spawn.

Worn Dragonscale - There are three great locations to farm for these, with the Dragon population levels being 41-43 on average.

Swamp of Sorrows - The Green Dragonkin that surround the Sunken Temple
Dustwallow Marsh - The Red Dragonkin that inhabit the southern part of the map; Wyrmbog, Stonemaul Ruins, and Onyxia's Lair
Badlands - Lethlor Ravine, which lies at the eastern most end of the map, is infested with Scalding Whelps

The patterns:

You get the chest pattern from the Weastlander Bandit's
3.2% drop
Hands Patther : From the Thief's at the same
place. 3.1% drop

Worn Dragonscale can you farm in Dustwallow Marsh 2.9-4.6. some rar spawn and elite whit higher drop rate. level 41-45.

You can also get it in Swamp of Sorrow. level 41-45 drop rate is 4.5-5.5 <---best drop rate.

Or you can go into Sunken Tempel and skinn the dragons there. they are elite so you need a party 48/49-55+ instace.

Scorpid Scale: You can farm in Uldaman or Tanaris they have all 39.60 to 39.90 drop rate. the 46-47 scorpids in tanaris can drop from 1-2 and same in Uldaman.

Thick Leather: I think you got it from before. But if you need it there shall be no problem, you gonna get it while skinning the other Mobs.

Happy hunt. or you can buy everything from the AH if you got the monye. Not always there.

I am a lvl 53 hunter with a LW skill of 275...the guy in Badlands for the Dragonscale specialty does not have the quest for me...any suggestions?

the Dustwallow Marsh dragonkin are black, not red. not that it matters since you can't skin them for colored scales, but anyway...

all of you forget, you cant learn the 2 pieces of gear from trainers. they drop of wastewander guys in tanaris. thus making it even harder. i leveled to 70 before doing these.

Anyone know if it is possible to just get a pair of gloves or pair of breastplates from someone who has the recipe and use those to turn in for the quest, or do you have to make them yourself? This is taking me longer to farm up than my Tiny Crimson Whelping, damnit.

Just got this, the guy is a bit difficult to find. Best way to get to him without having to kill a ton of mobs is to fly to Talrendis Point on the edge of Ashenvale/Azshara then head east until you come to some ruins. You'll see a couple of Horde flags on the right hand side flanking a path. Head up this path until you see a watchtower on the left. Behind the watchtower are a load of mountains/rocks which you can climb over until you reach Galen. Put your profession trainer track on and he'll appear as a yellow dot. Co-ords 37.6, 94.9. Remember where he is cos you have to go back each time you want to learn something new!

I discovered that a really good place to get worn dragonscales (and green as well) is Sunken Temple in the Swamp of Sorrows. The main room where most of the Dragonkin are (this is the one that has to be cleared before taking on Morphaz or getting to Eranikus) is excellent for a good harvest of scales.

Yes Sunken Temple is a really good spot to get thoose scales. I did it on my 64 Hunter when I was doing a Hunter quest for Morphas wich I didn't get a group for when it was avaliable.

im a lvl 52 shaman (alliance), Lw 267, have completed the master of wild leather chain, have the worn dragonscales, breastplates and gloves in my bags, still can't get quest from Peter Galen. Any ideas, suggestions would be most welcomed!
