This quest is usually quite frustrating. The Creeper Ichor has about a 2% chance to drop so you could get it on your first spider or your 500th.

The Grey Bear Tongues aren't that common either, about 20% chance to drop. North of Hillsbrad Fields is a good spot for both spiders and bears.

You will have the grey bear tongues long before you will have the Ichor, unless you are really lucky. This quest is notorious for taking hours to complete just because of the ichor.

After messing with the creepers for a bit, I found a Creepthess which was a little S of the road by the Hillsbrad fields 39,53. He dropped the echor two times i found him. Its easy to spot because its Grey not Green.

Doesn't have to be just "Grey Bear"... Any Grey Bear will drop the tongue. Tons of good drops around Durnholde Keep.

I must have been quite lucky too, as the ichor dropped for me after about the 3rd kill. The bear tongues are a different matter all together! Had to kill about 40 to get all 10 tongues, i found the bears on the other side of the river near durnholde keep seemed to drop them more often than the standard "grey bears"

killed about 100 spiders near tarren mill didnt get the ichor .. but went to coords 40,52 and got it after the second kill!!! The spiders there are lvl 24-25

got mine at 67, 10. killed *tons* of spiders around tarren mill, then ventured out southeast a bit. after coming around that ridgeline i got it on my 2nd kill.

i had to kill like 15 spiders to get the ichor and roughly 20 bears for the tounges. took me like 30 mins and i ended up getting some spider's silk that sells nicely on my server and got alot of medium leather from the bears. overall not a hard quest just takes a little while

This is an extremely annoying, and time consuming quest. I was grinding for the items for so long I leveled up twice while grinding. I had started as a level 22 and finished the quest as a level 24. Extremely ridiculus.

First time I did this quest got the Ichor on my first kill, second time around leveling up my soon to be twink, probably about 40 kills till it dropped. As for the bear tongues, I probably kill about 30 first time around, probably 50ish for my alt. So I'd say there is a luck factor involved.

This quest sucks, it takes so much of your time.. Anyhow ; just kill the spiders running around in the area - and when you get the Ichor, then go for the bears running around the area (around the city).

The most annoing about this quest is the attact against the city, done by the alliance.. So keep an eye out for the enemy players...

BTW: My tip will be to abondom this quest; you don't get any experience (exept for the killings - and not any reward at all)..

My experience is that Gray Bears by the river have much bigger drop rate than anywhere else.

I got the Ichor fairly quickly from the spiders by the river. However I have only gotten 4 tongues now in around 23 bears. I am almost ready to lvl to 21 and started this quest at 20. I can use the lvling so don't mind that so much. The bears by the river do seem to drop more than the ones up by the road. I got 2 within a shorter time by the river. Only problem with the river is the plentiful spiders. Though if you have cooking and have gone to Tranquil Village to get the recipe for the spider legs then that wont be a problem.

This Quest is a pain in the ass, The ichor dropped on the 3rd spider, but the first bear tongue dropped after about 11th bear =/ and that not suppose to happen :) so i just abandoned the quest and walked to grind in barrens instead, Hillsbrad is not a good leveling spot if u just reached 20:)

Yeah, this quest royally sucketh. :P Any-hoo, I knew what was coming so I just spent my effort getting the bear tongues.... and I still have yet to get the ichor, but I'm just whacking spider creepers as they come along and doing other quests. Basically, get the bear tongues and then put it out of your mind until you get lucky, that's my suggestion.

My tip would be, to cross the eastern river ( the one with the Snapjaws in it ) and kill the mobs level 24 - 26. The first creeper i saw and killed there dropped the ichor. The bear tongues also dropped more frequently.

I would suggest this for any quest of this nature - where the task is to kill one type of creature (wolves, bears, spiders etc) - to move on and find a higher levelled creature of that type. The drop rate is usually higher.

This worked for me, anyway. Hope it helps

Well I got my spyder stuff with like 2 kills lucky i guess but I swear i went down by the creek at tarren mills and killed 50 + bears seriously i almost lvled up twice from bears but if you go between tm and hillsbrad fields to those bears I killed 8 and got 5 bear tounges

I got the ichor on my first kill (near river).
but i threw it out because i didnt know it was rare :/
luckly i got another one within 8 kills (nexto river).

I don't know if the drop rate for creeping ichor has been improved recently but I've done the quest twice in the last couple of days and both times the ichor dropped within a few kills of the spiders (both times it was near the river, but not sure if that is making a difference or not).

From Tarren Mill, go west to where you see the Gray Bears, kill those to get the Gray Bear Tongues. For the Creeper Ichor, go south of Tarren Mill and you will find these Green Spider-type enemies and those will drop the Creeper Ichor.

This quest was very frustrating. The tongues dropped pretty often but the ichor... well, on my 34th kill I got it. :/

The ichor dropped on my second spider kill, but I slaughtered every Gray Bear around Tarren Mill and got only 2 or 3 tongues. Then I decided I'd just try the Vicious Gray Bears, and got a much better drop rate. I also got 50% or better from the Elder Gray Bears. I experimented with the lower-level, plain old Gray Bears more, and the drop rate continued to suck, whether they were near the river or not. Finished the quest on Elder and Vicious. So I recommend doing this quest when it's green, at about level 26, and going after the yellow-level Elder and Vicious Gray Bears.

Great grind for skinning, however. Got tons of Medium Leather.

For the Creeper Ichor, everyone in the party can loot it from the same mob. This is not the case with the Gray Bear Tongues.

Was able to get the Creeper Ichor from a Forest Moss Creeper around Tarren Mill. I believe it was my 2nd or 3rd kill of that creature. Tongues was a 100% drop rate.

The drop rate for these quest items have definately been increased in some patch around WotLK. Have levelled countless amounts of toons through this quest, and the drop rate was always low. My most recent alt did this quest today, and tongues were 100% drop rate, Ichor dropped on first or second kill.

This one of the most annoying quest it took me 2-3 weeks cause of the ichor!it is so annoying!100% drop rate for the tounges for me.

i hate this quest
i've done it in level 20 to 21 and it's hard to get the ichor
the bear tongues is quite easy after a few bears but the inchor its truly hard.

As of 3.1, they seemed to have raised both the drop rates to about 100%. Or I'm just extremely lucky =D

From my experience, the droprate on the bear tongues seems to have been increased significantly, but the Creeper Ichor droprate is still awful.

After getting annoyed with this quest, i followed kiddx's advice and found Creepthess, killed him and it dropped the ichor. Im not sure if that is luck or 100% drop rate but it worked. i found him at around 36, 56.

Ah, another wretched day in Tarren Mill. All of this clean air puts me in such a foul mood, <name>.

The sooner we can plague the humans here, the better. I've been conducting intense studies on possible killing agents to use in my concoctions but I haven't the time to collect them all.

If you want to make yourself of use, procure the following items for me: 10 Gray Bear Tongues and the very rare and hard to find, Creeper Ichor. You'll find both bears and creepers just outside of Tarren Mill.
