In MoP, you will be able to get valor points by doing dailies. The 25 daily quest cap will be removed, and there will be hundreds of new dailies to do. Now you won't have to farm it by doing dungeons anymore, if you prefer doing dailies instead.

Lao will be found inside one of the black cages found all around the marked quest area on the map.

I found him in a black cage at 40 , 18. It looks like the black cages are next to the tents.

He can be found all over the camp in a black cage. For me, it was the only black cage that was closed! The furry friend was in that one. Good luck hunting!'

ps: he had no yellow/green tag above his head to spot m easy.. I flew over him twice before i saw m.

I flew over the area for 20 mins, saw 5 or 6 cages, ALWAYS empty. I don't get it...

Finding him easy by using following macro and spamming it while flying over the quest zone.

There are currently four Lao Softfoots in the NPC database, the only one that you need to add to NPCScan in order to find him for is Lao Piede Soffice.

Lao Piede Soffice is the Lao that appears after being released from the cage. Not sure what the other two are used for if anything yet.

Checked all around the tents many times and every cage was empty. Then while taking my anger out on a random mob, I found poor Lao in a cage by the first tree you can see if you are standing on the steps facing south.

Just hoping this helps as it seems to be the only cage not by a tent.

You will find Lao Softfoot locked up in a Gabbia degli Shao-Tien in one of the following 8 possible locations:
50.5 / 23.4
47.6 / 19.0
43.1 / 15.9
40.7 / 18.3
39.2 / 19.1
37.6 / 23.0
39.7 / 26.0
43.1 / 22.4

The 7 cages in which you won't find Lao will have their doors open. The other one will have the door closed and – obviously – Lao standing in it.

The locations I have given sometimes differ by about 0.1 from what the map says. That's because I got the coordinates from standing on top of each cage. The inaccurate coordinates of the map are probably due to harvesting data by wowhead's in game add-on when someone is opening the cage and thus standing next to it. But never mind, you'll surely find the cages either way.

This guy just might be Corki from Nagrand in disguise. They both get captured a lot.
Oh yeah, about the quest. Just set this quest as the tracked quest, and either make a macro to find him or just type /tar Lao every so often. Then just use your minimap to find him.
I wouldn't recommend doing this at peak hours, since there's more people like you who want to find him.

I know it's a daily, but after several times of getting captured you'd think the Golden Lotus would stop him.

I think this is one of the WORST dailies I have ever encountered. The amount of time that this npc takes to respawn, that there are several different spawn points and that only one person can release him at a time is ridiculous!

I have been using the macro and although I have spotted him twice in 30 minutes with the other 50 people trying to grab him too makes it impossible.

The fact that you can not even unlock the second level of dailies without completing this is actually infuriating. I have to go take blood pressure meds and give up until later with this one.... and I am very calm and laxxed WoW player---lol.

Blizzard needs to fix this one!

Actually, everytime I did this quest, Lao Piede Soffice was in the cage @ 45,13 which is the cage near the spawning point of the Behemoth Shao-Tien and the closest to the Gate of the August Celestial between the Vallata dell'Eterna Primavera and Massiccio del Kun-Lai.

This is a macro that will help those who have Tomtom:

/way 47.6, 19.0

/way 40.7, 18.3
/way 39.2, 19.1
/way 37.6, 23.0

Then you should run these waypoint till find the guy.

Was running this quest today and, while I had no trouble finding Lau, I wasn't able to release him from his cage (cursor didn't change to the cogwheel icon when hovered over the cage). Anyone had that experience?

Another way of making this quest really easy without the need to spam a macro is this simple:
Enable friendly nameplates (default shift+v) and fly around the area. You'll find him in no time!

I don't know about anyone else - but I've gotten and completed this quest for almost a consecutive week now.

Every single time Lao was in the dark cage at 40, 26. Never seen him in any of the other cages. Not sure why.

This one bugged today... The first time ever. I was standing right next to him and couldn't open the cage.

Relogging, zoning in and out didn't help, not even turning in the other quests.

I gave up, wrote a ticket and did something else...

EDIT: The GM told me that he can't do anything against it...what a mess! Waiting for a fix

I've been looking all over WoWhead AND been killing all kinds of mobs to find out where I could get the key to Lao's cage, only to find out that you don't actually need one... duh... /facepalm

So: note that you don't need a key. I repeat: YOU DO NOT NEED A KEY.

Of course I'm only posting this because I hope I'm not the only one who's dumb enough to go looking for a key... ;-)

Lao seems to be bugged. I found him, but the cage is open and stuck that way. This sucks because it's in the first set of dailies.

I don't know if it was a one time-bug but I was looking for Lao Softfoot and couldn't find him, so I opened the nearest (empty, as far as I could see) Cage and got credit for rescuing him. Can anyone confirm if this works on all seemingly empty cages?

The cage I opened was at (37,22).

Lao must be some sort of lost cousin of Crusader Kul, also known as Kul the Reckless.
