The cave is on the eastern side of the Blasted Lands. After killing the 55 elite demon Kirith (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=7728), his spirit will appear (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=7729). Talk to the spirit to complete the quest.

rather easy for a warlock, (with felguard) banish kirith and kill the adds. rebanish and bind aid your demon or health funnel it (re-banish as needed).
Kirith isnt exactly a push over but very doable. he has around 12k hp, mana-burn and a 75% armor reduction debuff (i had to resummon a felguard late in the fight and tank the last 10% of him, just remember to keep dots on him and perhaps searing pain him the last few %.

Talk to the Fallen Hero at the entrance to the Blasted Lands.

I believe he'll only have this quest for you if you've completed his other quest chains.

Did it as a 57 disc priest. Used 1 mana pot and feared the mana burns, or got out of line of sight. A good wand helps when he's feared so it lasts longer.

Soloed as 58lvl rogue. First started by killing one of the adds. After he was down, just vanished and regained health. After that, sapped the last add and went for Kirith. As 21/0/28 build I had preparation and cold blood. Used two evasions and two cold bloods. Also had to take one potion, but it was worth of it. One thing as rogue is that you don't interrup the mana drain. It has ~4sec casting time and makes no damage, just burns mana. So just wait him to cast it, and you have 4sec free time to dps it.

You don't actually have to be the one to kill Kirith the Damned ( http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=7728 ) to finish this quest. My group came in there as a level 70 had just killed him and we could talk to the Spirit of Kirith ( http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=7729 ) and complete the quest anyway.

So if you happen to just find him dead as you get in there, no need to turn around and wait for a respawn. (Though he does respawn fairly quickly, we waited for it and killed him for the fun of it, took maybe 4 minutes for him to respawn).

This quest has been Nerfed I assume by the latest patch. Kirith the Damned is no longer elite, so it was a breeze as a lvl 55 Feral Druid. I even accidentally pulled both of his adds. I just stayed in bear form, only popping out once to heal up. Barkskin is our friend!

As of patch 2.3 the Xp is now 9000 i did this quest as a lvl 60 hunter really easy.

oh and dont die. respawn rate is v.fast and by the time you get back all that you killed will also be back.

This is a quest in a chain of 23 that runs pretty much all over the map.
However, it all starts with the Fallen Hero of the Horde.

Technically, it's four chain quests that tie into each other:

Completing the entire chain gives you the following:
103,685XP at appropriate level
Shard of Afrasa
Enchanted Azsharite Felbane (Dagger, Sword or Staff)
Necklace of Sanctuary
Demon's Blood
Demon Hide Sack

Solo'd as a 56 fury warrior. It's harder to get into the damn cave than to get through it and kill him...mobs are pretty dense just outside the entrance and there's that servant that will just be unkillable since you're past that part of the chain. Make sure you wait for him to pat away from the entrance if you're just trying to waltz in.

For people interested in "Loremaster of Kalimdor," start this chain. Once you get to the quests in Azshara where you talk to Loramus, a handful of them will count towards that continent. It's what finally pushed me over the edge into the 685 territory.

Chain 3:

1. Kirith Does NOT count for Loremaster of Kalimdor (LoK)
2. The Cover of Darkness Does NOT count for LoK
3. The Demon Hunter Does NOT count for LoK
4. Loramus Does count toward LoK
5. Breaking the Ward Does count toward LoK
6. The Name of the Beast Does count toward LoK
7. The Name of the Beast Does count toward LoK
8. The Name of the Beast Does count toward LoK
9. Azsharite Does count toward LoK

For non-DK's:
You may want to bring some Elixir of Water Walking. Unless you don't mind swimming back and forth.

I soloed this with a level 54 Rogue. I just went in the cave stealthed until I reached kirith then went into the western corner where the fire is and hid there until kirith came close enough facing me, unstealthed then started attacking him with sinister strike, ghostly strike and Eviscerate without any aggro. Just be sure that the little green man is not making his rounds before unstealthing...hope this helps. Stealthed my out.

One of my men is still unaccounted for, lost somewhere in the Blasted Lands. I am talking about Lieutenant Kirith, of course.

As I had mentioned earlier, we were both imprisoned and tortured by Allistarj, but poor Kirith, his strength of will faltered. I could hear the experiments from my cage; the tortured screams rang through the halls of the cave. That was the last I saw or heard of Kirith.]
