This quest line is pretty easy for the most part, if you're careful about your aggro radius. It seems to teach you how to stop runners and position your fights so that you don't overaggro, and it's probably one of the most annoying quests if you're not on top of these two aspects. Make sure you slow/root/stun/KILL the troggs before they go crying to their camp full of angry dads, and if one slips away and it's headed for a camp, just start running early so they can't daze you and beat the life out of you.

I found a nice little patch of Stonesplitter Troggs and Scouts around 31,73. Starting from the questgiver follow the road north until you see a path going southeast, follow it and there's Stonesplitter valley. As Abcrador said, the stone teeth drop off of these guys, easy to do both quests at the same time. Good luck!

Strangely (or not), i found this quest reasonably hard as lvl 11 warrior. The mobs in their spawn zone are very close to each other, it's hard to aggro even only two of them at one time. Besides, the drop rate for Troggs teeth' are horrible, too: i have already finished the quest and only 3 have dropped... Maybe it's just my unlucky day.

I died about three times on this quest, while trying to kill mobs from the small camps around, as a level 11 rogue. I was just about to abandon it when I read the comments here and thought "Oh what the hell, I'll just try to ranged pull them", which I did. However, whenever trying to pull one mob from the camps, another one would aggro along with it. Also, I'd usually run into a patrol when pulling the scouts back, so I ended up getting killed again.

I decided I only wanted to give it one more try, so when I ressed and got full health again, I wandered around the camp in stealth for a few seconds, noticing how many one-trogg packs there actually are. I then simply started taking out one patrol at the time, and completed the quest without any further problems.

So as a summary, kill the patrols unless you're sure you can handle 2-4 mobs at the time.

EDIT: This was in the valley mentioned by the posters above, there's also a small camp of troggs further up along the road where they're more spread out, but also less in numbers.

Path starts at 28,65 (South-East path). Just gotta kill 10 Stonesplinter Scout's and 10 Stonesplinter Trogg's who can all be found in the area. Watch out because the Scouts throw knives at range, and this might cause aggro from other mobs in the area.

Do along with The Trogg Threat.

We need to protect the Loch, <name>! With so many of the King's soldiers fighting valiantly on remote battlefields, we've become overwhelmed on the home front. Troggs are tunneling up from every crevice! The Trogg infestation poses the largest threat to Ironforge.

We need you, brave adventurer, to venture forth and lay waste to the Trogg threat. Slay 6 Stonesplinter Troggs and 6 Stonesplinter Scouts and report back. You will find most of the vermin through the passes into the mountains to the south.
