This is the Tanking drake found in the Occulus. You find these drakes after fighting Drakos the Interrogator, the first boss of the instance. While I may be wrong, the only boss you may use the drakes on in the final boss, Ley-Guardian Eregos. You may freely choose which drake to use, regardless of your gear, spec, or class. These Drakes use the new vehicle system, and are therefore NOT considered mounts.

Taking the Ruby Drake (Tank) will grant you its abilties:

Searing Wrath (60 yds) - Instant - Breathes a stream of fire at an enemy dragon, dealing 6800 to 9200 Fire damage and then jumping to additional dragons within 30 yards. Each jump increases the damage by 50%. Affects up to 5 total targets

Evasive Aura - Instant - Allows the Ruby Drake to generate Evasive Charges when hit by hostile attacks and spells. (Note: this ability is passive)

Evasive Maneuvers - Instant - 5 sec. cooldown - Allows your drake to dodge all incoming attacks and spells. Requires Evasive Charges to use. Each attack or spell dodged while this ability is active burns one Evasive Charge. Lasts 30 sec. or until all charges are exhausted.

The 4th ability you do not have access to until you kill the 3rd boss, Mage-Lord Urom

Martyr - Instant - 10 sec. cooldown - Redirect all harmful spells cast at friendly drakes to yourself for 10 sec.

The general idea for using a ruby drake on Eregos is to build up around 5 - 7 Evasive Charges, hit Martyr, then Evasive Maneuvers. Ideally Evasive Maneuvers will last the full duration, or close to it, of Martyr, redirecting all party damage to the ruby drake, which is immune for the duration.

Besides that, when whelps spawn, retarget them with Searing Wrath in order to significantly increase your damage (and threat) on Eregos.
