Delete the awful twitch client and use this? Okay, you've convinced me.
One of the things that other add-on managers have required, is that you have an account, with a registered e-mail address. WowUp doesn't care who you are, or what your personal information is. It just scan's your add-on folder, for the add-on's you already have, and lets you know when they need updating. It has a easy interface to find new add-on, too. so it is not only a much smaller program than Curse/Twitch/etc., it is anonymous too!
Looks as good alternative. Thanks.
I thought Curse and WoWinterface blocked 3rd party download apps. That was a couple of years ago...Why use this app vs twitch? it only supports Wow Addons and has none of the bloat of Twitch. It loads faster. Does not require an account to log into the app.
...I didn't realize I was featured! Many thanks, Wowhead friends!
Only thing that I dislike on this one is that it doesn't show which addons you have installed on the "Get Addons" page. For example, I have Pawn installed and updated with this tool. When I go on the "Get Addons" tab it still shows the "Install" button next to it. When you try to click it you get an error message, but it would be much nicer if it could be as it is on the Twitch app where it says "Installed" next to the addon you already have.
So WoWHead now actively supports and promotes applications that take money AWAY from Addon Developers? Why would you want anyone to use this, is the downloads through this application do not count for the addon devs and thus also do not provide any revenue.Do we really want addon devs to stop making money, so they might quit and look for another source of income?
This application caused my Windows Defender system to go flippin' berserk. You should probably have warned users about this.
I just tried this manager out for the first time. Lightweight as a descriptor is spot-on. Everything downloads and updates quickly. Searches are fast and simple. I like it!
I am not seeing ElvUI anymore, did something happen? I had to use a mirror for the updated ElvUi addon and eventually got it installed the old school way but is this permanent or a temporary issue for Wowup.io?
This manager works great, easy to install and maintain addon updates. My biggest drawback so far is the amount of updates the manager itself is having. Theres an update every day it seems, and it uninstalls and reinstalls, which isnt fun for my SSD. As well as me having to pin it back to the taskbar every time.-edit: well I found out the reason for so many updates, and its my fault. I installed the beta client.
My main problem with WoWUp is that each time that it updates, I have to wrestle with my OS to convince it that its not a threat.
I tried WoWup and I was very pleased with how simple it was to update my addons. But within the last week, addons became corrupted. The last two days, I noticed two of them just ceased to exist in the game addons list. And because of this, I don't know that I feel safe or confident using WoWup.
Its not picking up the latest Details for classic :(
It can't sync between two accounts. I have two computers and I can't sync addons between them. Also if I change my computer and dump all data on it I can't get my addons back as it was in Twitch app.Overwolf also don't allow sync though so it's a matter of what you trust.
How do I stop Wowup from re-adding wow accounts? I don't play WOTLK Class or Dragonflight beta but ihe program keeps adding them back in to the client. I don't even have either of them installed. How do I stop this?
