weird change, but ok
I like this change. Now, clip their wings while gathering. No advantages.
Obviously this was done for lore reasons. Blizzard probably realized that somebody has to teach a bird how to fly.
you wanna turn into a bird? nononono sir, you need to sign this conctract right here and pay the cost, if not...no birdform for you >.<
Why do druids need to train RIDING to shapeshift?
To be fair it was a little bit weird, even as a druid main for it not to require it, every other class you had to learn training before you flew, but druid you could fly without training, but then when you wanted to fly faster, you had to train two ranks instead of just one
Maybe here is not where to ask but what happens to a character that knows artisan and not master ?
Do it for Ursoc
Why do this. You talk about the RPG elements coming back into the game with covenants, then make a completely unnecessary change like this.

Exactly the kind of change I don't like to see, especially since Blizz has been talking about bringing back a lot of the cool, unique things that classes get that differentiate them. This wasn't hurting anyone, and gave a class a small, flavorful advantage that just made the fantasy a little better. What a silly choice.
So what happens if you're level 40 on live, train 100% riding, then get squished (assuming 5/12 ratio) down to level ~16-17? Would they keep the riding skill below the level threshold or unlearn it? It's an edge case for sure but could have implications for things like low level battleground toons.
You still have 280 riding until you purchase 310 in the beta.
This...makes no sense. It's just inconvenience for the sake of it. LolWhy is this suddenly a problem?... I don't understand. If you want to give it some lore flavor then give them a quest to get their flying for free... They're learning to literally fly with their own two wings, not control a mount.
It surprised me when, with level scaling, flying became automatic at level 58 wherever you were, not just in Outland as it had previously. Just leveling up and being able to fly was one of the most fun things in the game about being a druid. Devs like the hybrid tax. We should expect to see more restrictions on druids in the future. I expect that that killing off ursoc forever video they released yesterday is intended to send the message that druid tanks will never be viable again.
