This is a sweet hybrid tax. If you have many roles, you bought essences you wouldn't have on any pure dps class.
"Costs and Acquisition increasing by 6 times bridges the gap slightly more than 5 times."lol... At some point we're just going to have to wonder if people are complaining about things in BfA that were the same as they've been in previous expansion just because it's BfA and they need something to complain about. In few weeks, when everyone has all the corruption they'll ever want, all this hand-wringing, breath-holding, and foot-stomping will have been rather pointless.
just have everyone start at 0 and the ones who saved alot just convert it into silver like you do with all currency that get replaced
Gotta say, not having any of this issue with the Echoes on my main. Probably because one of the essences I have equipped is still at rank 1. I never really bothered trying to upgrade it because it needs raid currency which is a turn-off for me. I only had to go through this process once to get that particular essence for a DPS bump.Sure, I could've grinded again for a bigger DPS bump but I'm just burnt out on this raiding currency and I don't want to have to go through the whole lag process everytime I get into a raid.
So... I got 1700 echoes left in my druid alt who need a few essences. I don't have a sub actually... So im "forced" to renew to get 3 essences or I end up with 1700 echoes and need 7500 to buy 3 rank 3 essences?Cool, so now I give a ton more %^&* about wow in its current state.
Full stop for just a moment, hear me out on this:I was really pissed off this morning, because of not being able to get any of these on my main, and the idea that people's alts would have a lot more, and I don't really play any of my alts. I'm more of a one toon type of guy. Upon discussion with a bunch of guildies and others on our server, I've come to realize a few things regarding the Echoes, and why people should take a step back, calm down, and breaaaathe (like I did NOT do this morning being pissy).1) The drop rate on Echoes before this was substantially lower.2) Any Echoes that an alt would be getting were going towards rank 3 essences.3) Upon purchase of all of your rank 3 essences, you can no longer get Echoes on your alt (I believe you can't get Echoes for a rank three on your alt that you don't have on your main, but I'm not sure?)4) There would be basically nobody hoarding Echoes without buying the rank 3's, because why would you? Beyond a couple of days ago, there was no reason to, the rank 3's were the only thing the currency was for.5) The comparison with Wakening Essences from Legion isn't exactly a fair one, as the only thing you'd be saving those up for was a legendary, that's it, that's alll. But Echoes are being used for a specific purpose on alts that would have had nothing to do with getting corruption, meaning (see 1-4) no one's alt should be that far ahead of anyone's main by the end of even the first week. What this means is that, except for maybe that ONE guy out of a thousand, who saved up maybe a few hundred of these at most, no one is going to have hoarded enough of these to make a significant difference over my (or your) main toon. And even for that one guy, he might be ahead of you by a few hundred, but he's missing rank 3 essences if he did so, meaning he's probably behind the curve on progression and you'll blow past him collecting Echoes simply because your mains are stronger than his alt is.I honestly believe that I hadn't looked at the entire situation clearly this morning before I went off on the Blizz forums about it a little bit. It would appear that this is actually a fair and equitable situation and I look forward to seeing how it works.
Simple. For every 500 echoes, mail the character a token that can be redeemed for 1 (unlocked) r3 essence. Then reset everyone to 0.
Maybe Corrupted Mementos as currency for corruptions?
