Honestly, is it REALLY that important to have numbers? When in the nine circles did y'all join Method? Do you people really find it that "statz are dis important all de time xd xd xd" 80% of the time it won't @#$%ing matter what you have. Heroic Raids won't depend just on that one ability of yours. It's not like you can literally solo the first boss if you just had that one ability that is better than the others. Cause, in the end, it'll end up useless anyway. Just like anything does in WoW.You'll farm your ass off for Ny'alotha, gear up, and then when Shadowlands hits you will be killed by 3 level 51 mobs. It doesn't matter in any way. And, KEEP IN MIND, it most likely won't come out until November 2020 or even December 2020. Cause, as they have stated before, this is REALLY EARLY IN DEVELOPMENT. There will be changes. MANY changes. And you will just get ^&*!ed over once more by the ever-growing game that is WoW. And for all the tryhards that will go on tangets over how I'm an idiot who doesn't play at all and knows jack *!@#.SureI guess I amBut I'd rather be that more than a tryhard wanker who spits on others over their own preference, like many do up in the "hardcore" raiding guilds, with no place near the top.And on a small sidenote: Can always change if you dislike what you see (even though it will be a major pain in the ass to switch Covenants). In my sincerest opinion, I just hope the mounts aren't Covenant-bound (Or they might already have said they would be Covenant-bound, I just don't know about it) ... And about the sets, there's still a possibility Blizzard will remove that restriction (A possibility, but it obviously could be... just that. Nothing more.). But it wouldn't be Blizzard if there was something that didn't hinder you from using it right away. I personally prefer aesthetic over numbers, cause I love how Blizzard's sets look (even the BfA ones, although the mail ones are... disappointing.) so I'm picking the dip%^&* Necrolords for my DK and the Kyrians for my Paladin. For a final note, I really wanna throw out that... They may even add more sets as time goes on. Just some food for thought. If they really wanna impress us and show "Hey we aren't lazy bastards with Store Mounts. No. We're mildly lazy bastards with Store Mounts AND more customization set-wise that isn't in the Store *wink wink nudge nudge*.", that could be a GREAT move.
All this back and forth and really im just curious of the visual: Will we actually see this extra limb sprout out of the character? What will it look like? Will it hold a weapon? Can I activate it out of combat for the heck of it?
I think these are all interesting enough that the decision will be hard there’s an AoE effect, a self-buff, a debuff and also a survivability option. With the Mage options for a straight DPS class they are more limited in scope but seeing the DK options and how you can choose between AoE/single target damage/threat, or go for survivability is a meaningful choice Believe it or not I actually like the tension between choosing the covenant theme/aesthetic you like versus the combat benefit options. When you can change a Talent any time you like (even if it requires a consumable) then there’s little reason to care about them other than the numbers they do in given content, but with these Covenants you actually become something that matters and distinguishes you from the other 2 DK’s in your party. Especially if one is a tank and you’re DPS.I’m even more excited to see what the options will be for the tank/DPS/healer classes. With the potential choices to strengthen a spec’s weakness, max out a strength or add some other utility, I think this is the right kind of influence from Classic on the modern game.
"Sckhar said:MaximusPM said:Then pick what's cool. Stop thinking only about numbers, people.Easier said than done on a game like wow where people are willing to spit on you because of said numbers. This is going to be just like talent trees were, a illusion of choice, you're welcome to pick what you want but if it isn't the best then you're out of most groups."Simply put, don't play with those people.I don't play WoW like a spreadsheet with graphics, and if someone else in the game doesn't like that, do I actually care? No. I pay MY subscription to enjoy MY time. Not to please some @$$hole.
It doesn't matter to me personally if one covenant is clearly better for my spec, as a casual lfr hero, but I do feel bad for people who truly do have to pick the "correct" covenant. .....But if WE can see there's clearly a correct choice, Blizzard sees it too, remember. I'm sure they have something - possibly the soulbinds as others have said - that will make it less clear-cut. Also, it's not even Alpha yet. For all we know, this is already outdated info.
Guys, We can't have everything at once. This is a game with limitations, choices should be difficult, we should be challenged on a personal level. I'm personally excited to see what Shadowlands and the Covenants have in store for us. Even if we don't RP we still give our characters stories in our own heads. I want to have my Void Elf Survival Hunter join the Night Fae, my Blood Elf Ret Pally Join the Veth, my Worgen Feral Druid join the Necrolords, and my eventual Vuplera Mistweaver Monk join the Kyrians. Right? Each of these characters and archetypes are going to have vastly different experiences, and with the the different specs/races everyone is going to feel pretty unique in their covenant i think. Like shuffling a deck of cards. Here is what I want. If Blizzard is going for a more personal story I want all my own characters to weave their story together and take part in the same world. I've been thinking about this for a while, so hear me out. There is a ton of content and doing it over and over again on different toons is mind bogglingly frustrating. I just want to play the game. End game and open world content are what we strive to participate in as a collective, the world building and storyline are what we mostly do solo and understanding why we participate in the group content. I left after Wrath and came back for Draenor. I'm a huge WC2 fan, it was my favorite in the series especially Through the Dark Portal. I even started a new account since when I tried to reactivate mine it had been hacked and banned a few years ago by somebody. It was a welcoming fresh experience even though I had lost everything that I had done and completed in the first 3 iterations of the game. But doing that content repeatedly and it feeling like i was stuck in some weird World of Samsara with all my characters prevented me from playing more than my Alliance Druid and my Horde Paladin. Now if, in addition to the story characters that we were given, we could have our alts participate in the Garrison, I would have gladly done that. I would have loved to have some sort of WC 1-3 type minigame where instead of that mobile game wannabe #$%^e that we got in the last 3 expansions, we took troops on missions led by our alts in some sort of squad based RTS type missions. Example: The barracks. Allow us to create footmen/grunts, riflemen/axe throwers, etc... in the classic RTS sense. Let us be able to upgrade the troops through our missions, finding capable characters to place under our command and over command of those troops (HERO UNITS), and then let our alts be some sort of officer support since those are player characters. All that time developing our professions on different characters could have been used for every character on the account thus giving the ability to create more versatile items that would be accountbound, have a place to display character trophies/armors/monuments. The ability to have a passive intake of materials for professions as well as the ability to go farm was a relief from the old grind and farm days. They literally gave us our own base to command and i felt less inclined to participate in any of it the more that I went on with the development. They even gave us the Naval battles of WC2! and those were even worse. Legion did little to improve upon the system but gave us more class development than we've had as well as tying up some loose ends. BFA, I feel was a step back, or maybe a half step to the side. If there are going to be 4 different campaigns, I want to have 4 characters participate in those campaigns, then at the end be in the same world together as members of those covenants working together to fix yet another world saving problem. With the addition of other timelines, realities, realms of existence... There is no sense in not allowing the players have their own unique worlds that have been shaped by their characters interactions with it. One character is not enough to fully enjoy the world of warcraft experience, but repeating the same content over and over is too much. I hope blizz realizes this and works towards fixing it in this and future expansions.
Still doesn't sound good. Just sounds like parts of the heart of azeroth system. The boring heart of azeroth system. And I cringe at the idea of balance.
Man, the Night Fae are getting better and better. Guess my DK is gonna have a cool wood plate transmog and moths on her back!
This stuff is super boring. Every ability is a clone of an existing one, plus a little bit of damage mitigation or utility.Night fae: Another death and decayKyrian: Another diseaseVenthyr: Another Remorseless WinterNecrolord: Another disease + another Death GripHopefully these aren't final. These abilities should each give the class access to something it couldn't do before. For example, DKs could get an execute, or a melee strike that generates a rune, or it could switch up gameplay by adding 15 yd range to all melee abilities, or address a critical weakness of the class by giving 25% passive runspeed. Those would be truly compelling choices, where I would agonize over which one to take because I desperately want all of them. And that's how it should be. The choice should be meaningful.
Regardless of numbers I don't see how these abilities could ever be balanced. What's worse is that it locks you into a certain type of play: some might be better for pvp, while others are better for pve. Cosmetics should not be coupled with combat advantages. That's why they invented transmog. It seems like we are constantly going backwards with Blizzard.
Hype, just in time for patch 8.3 allied race DK's. Get your race change $$$ ready. Nice play blizz. Now about M+ balance.....
