As of today I’m no longer an employee of @Blizzard_Ent. Wasn’t my choice. I wanted to retire here. I was just laid off from my dream job.Probably not best for me to tweet right now but it was an honor being your CM @Warcraft community. I love all of you.— Caden of the House House, First of his Name (@CadenHouse) February 12, 2019

After 12 years of being under the Activision Blizzard umbrella, I am now a free agent. Both companies are getting a ton of shit, but I have worked with some of the best and most talented people in the business at both places. I wish them nothing but success. The next logical step would be dropping "Blizzard" from "Activision Blizzard". Just let WoW die already...
people forget that more than 100 employees left the company 'willingly and by their own volition' with the benefits of a full year salary during 2018. So in short they've lost more than 10% of their total workforce in just one year
Dang, thought they would be smart and take out the mobile teams.
I didn't know who majority of these people were. I looked @ Caden's twitter to check it out.YTHISENSThey heckin' laid off Ythisens. Now I'm mad.
RIP Blizzard Activision has already starting bankcrupting it
Investors are strange creatures. Company can have record year, but if numbers are smaller than expected by investors, they will tell that results are disappointing and start selling shares like crazy, so they will lose a lot of value. Something like this must happened in this case.
Just need to layoff Bobby Kotick and all financial problems will be solved.
And this is the trouble with capitalism. All these damn capitalists.
How do you fire 90% of your Forum presence in your own platform?Like, lay off your #$%^ing marketing team and %^&*, you're a Software company, not Coca-Cola or Pepsi, do not fire the people that are keeping the playerbase hanging by a thread.
Good luck to all those laid off
Investors are more times than not left to hang. Just look at the pharmaceutical industry. The only reason share prices are of any relevance is that the CEO CFO et all get nstock options so therefore their biggest concern is the stock value and to hell with the actual company lasting to the next quarter - it's money now for them. This is the even more disgusting part - they laid off their base and didn't touch the biggest cost center that produces nothing whatsoever, which is the front office.
I like how they take something like this and try to dress it up as a good thing. This is bad news panda for the health of Blizzard Activision.
A lot of those positions really appear to be just useless money pits.Community Manager: A good community manager might reach on average one thousand users. If they get paid 60k yearly you are paying around 60$ per user consuming this service.Social Media: A good Social Media manager might reach on average five thousand users. If they get paid 60k yearly you are paying around 12$ per user consuming this service. Something Wowhead appears to already be doing thanks to Discord bots.Event Organizer: It appears everyone who's a community manager, social media manager or public relations also is an event organizer. A dedicated position to something that appears to be done by everyone anyways.Public Relations: Probably the most justifiable position to have but you shouldn't need that many people. Especially when you have overlapping positions like Social Media employees that manage Twitter accounts.Brand Manager: Again the people tweeting are college kids. What do they know about Brand management lol?It appears all of these positions were charity positions. I'm glad these useless positions were removed to make room for the developers who are the heart of the company. Give Blizzard a big ass heart and it will pump more money into your stock holder's pockets.
