As of today I’m no longer an employee of @Blizzard_Ent. Wasn’t my choice. I wanted to retire here. I was just laid off from my dream job.Probably not best for me to tweet right now but it was an honor being your CM @Warcraft community. I love all of you.— Caden of the House House, First of his Name (@CadenHouse) February 12, 2019

After 12 years of being under the Activision Blizzard umbrella, I am now a free agent. Both companies are getting a ton of shit, but I have worked with some of the best and most talented people in the business at both places. I wish them nothing but success. I wish Blizzard would think about the long term for it's IP, business and it's Products. None of which are safe under Activision Blizzard. The fanbase doesn't support it and Blizzard is losing customers on all fronts.
Bobby Kotick needs to be that leadership that changes... bump him to the curb ASAP
All the lay offs are due to bad management.
Demoralizing your player-base by firing a CM we frequently interacted with is not exactly my idea of a positive restructure. This expac really is all about killing hope lol.
They wanted to increase communication with their players... by firing the one CM who actually communicated with the players? Was Ythisens too opinionated, not enough of a robot who just drones to the players whatever you want them to?Basically laying off the employees who facilitated communication between the playerbase and the company, who worked in customer support, etc...even though you yourself said you made record breaking profits? Don't tell me we were *gasp* lied to when you guys claimed that working toward communication would be a priority. What do you need more people in development for anyways? Aren't you just going to outsource all your new (mobile) titles to China anyways?

just what we need with NOTHING about classic
Literally will not spend another dime on this game or with this company since they got rid of Caden. I'm sorry, but Blizzard went on record last year saying how bad their communication was regarding the launch of BFA. You don't fire your only damn CM who actually kept players informed of what was going on.
Ion and everyone else that thought locking flying behind a bunch of BS that not everyone cares to do instead of hitting level cap was a good idea should have been the first people to go! I did it on two accounts the 1st expansion we had to, one account the 2nd and now.... I don't know; no interest in PVP, I run solo (other than playing with my wife) so no current dungeons or raids but yet now even with the amount of time I play following the interesting quest lines and exploring the world I stay grounded and wondering why I paid yet another $60 (x2) for a game that is forcing content on me that I do NOT want to do. I love flying around and seeing the world from above but it's become too much of late to earn it so now I question if it's time to move on to another game my wife and I can enjoy both solo during the week and together on the weekend.
Love is in the air!
I think this a good restructuring. No game developers were let go. This will make the company's focus more on the quality of the games rather than profiting from them. It sucks that hundreds lose their jobs but Blizzard is good about making sure they transition to their next job nicely.
Did you read my comment? I have no problem with WQs or rep (hell I have the Kaluak pole on many of my toons for a rep example) my hate is on forcing PVP, dungeons and raids on people that aren't interested in same and just want to experience the game as a solo or very small group.
10700+ laid off at AT&T, 10400+ laid off at Verizon (both just within the last year), and now Blizzard is laying off 800 people (Doesn't sound like much, but they only have 9,625 employees), and the employees are finding out through the internet and not their boss. Companies aren't even trying to cover up how much they're screwing their employees after their amazing tax break. Just begs the question, is this layoff Blizzard fault or Activisions? Not to mention the fact that Activision told Blizzard to cut back on spending, then immediately afterwards signs on a new CFO with a nice $15 million dollar sign on bonus. Activision is ruining their games and the company.
I wish all those let go the best. Layoffs are no fun for those affected.
Hi,I wish the best to all the people getting laid off, I hope they find new jobs and keep chasing their dreams. On another note, I'd like to know the source you have on the number of layoffs, 8%, as it's not mentioned in the reports at all. Does it have substance behind it or is it a rumour from the kotaku article?
