After our earlier tweet, we are working on a hotfix so that the Coldlight Surfrunner can drop when ANY murloc type is present on an Island Expedition. Furthermore, we're simplifying this entire system in Tides of Vengeance. More details on that soon. https://t.co/JpWmdO8NnC— WarcraftDevs (@WarcraftDevs) November 21, 2018

There are different Murloc tribes in Azeroth, and so far, the kind of Murlocs that could drop Coldlight Surfrunner have not appeared on Island Expeditions. https://t.co/Fg0sOn2I2J— WarcraftDevs (@WarcraftDevs) November 20, 2018

With how hard Blizzard is pushing IEs, the fun factor seems to have been lost in translation.
The moment you made it against another team it stops being an expedition and just becomes another race to the finish line. All the chances of it being a fun experience were ruined when you slapped on a Hurry Up and Go mentality to it
The island expedition rewards system is absolutely scandalous. On one hand you are encouraged to run this content because there are awesome rewards to be had, but on the other hand you could be doing content that doesn't even give you a chance of getting the reward you want, and you can't even know that! I don't honestly know why the players are letting Good Guy Blizzard off this easily!
I remember when Blizzard took its time to procure showing good content and game design instead of rushing and risking it as if the gold releases are public betas. Remember when the "Paths of the Titans" planned game progression was removed before Cata released because they thought it was not quite up to par with the rest of the content? IE were cute the first couple of weeks, but they are not useful as anything but a weekly source of AP. Having their own currency with a very limited use instead of being also used as a way to reduce grinding for people that are focused on pets and loot, lacking any gameplay variety besides the map and mob rotation makes them boring very fast (another chore in a game that currently is filled with them). Even Battlegrounds feel more rewarding and fun (and they have been around since the beginning while remaining completely optional in their current form :3)With the way the goal of the game seems to be currently focused on timesinks and grinding, I don't think that a big change is coming in Tides of Vengeance :(
I thought this was a fishing rep thing for BFA when I glanced at it... :(
