I wonder if the factions will become less "Horde versus Alliance" and more Eastern Kingdoms versus Kalimdor. A regional battle rather than a faction one. Both Horde and Alliance lose major cities in Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms and will probably claim each region for their own.
Or maybe blizzard simply wanted to show us a darker and cruder story than we have been seeing lately and people can not stand it.As I see it, it is the closest thing to what would happen in a real war. This game was categorized as "heroic fantasy", now it should be "heroic dark fantasy".
Where is the rest of the Horde? What are their points of view? Will the Horde split over the decision? Will there be a third faction derived from the Horde because of this? Will they assassinate Sylvanas? How come all the horde is there for UC? Did Sylvanas hide from the other leaders the act of burning the world tree?I mean... come on.
Some of the story points should have been in the game in the first place. A few dialogs can change wonders!
In my honest opinion world of warcraft is a video game, not a book series. All this core story details must be available in-game, not in outside media. The books and novels are made as to support the in-game core story and expand on the mytology, not the other way arround. I consider this a poorly executed work. But then you realize this is a cheap maneuver to milk more money.
"Oh Sylvanas burned Teldrassil because she needed to make a grand statement against the Alliance." No, she burned Teldrassil in a temper tantrum because a nelf called her out on her actions and reminded her of herself back when she still lived.
Sylvanas is pure hatred, Saurfang believes in a Horde with honor but can't do anything about it... yet.
I have read Before the Storm, but I am glad to get some info on the novellas I have not read. It does give me as a Horde player a little more motivation to fight for my Warchief. Although, I am already going to try and embrace being the villain until the inevitable redemption in BfA. My biggest concern is all this talk about the factions and allegiances. Beyond Blizzard deciding to make a 3rd faction with players of the Horde and Alliance opting to join (similar to the Pandaren starting quests) I hope this never happens. The Horde has its problems, but all this talk of abandoning it and joining the Alliance is embarrassing to me. People are calling for the Tauren to join the Alliance even... I like to think that there's nothing that would make me quit this game that I have been playing for 13 years, but being a troll having to fight against Tauren? That might do it. I think people should be careful for what they wish for, races changing factions will ruin this game. I have just got my respect back for the Blood Elves that were planning on abandoning the Horde and now you all want other races to leave? I sincerely hope that upon BfA release we get some of our Horde pride back so that all of you who want your Horde race on the Alliance side now or are considering playing Alliance this expac have a reason to stay and fight with me. For the record I don't think a 3rd faction is a good idea either, but the best of all the possibilities. Red vs Blue forever! For the Horde!I am also predicting (as I have in other posts) that Sylvanas will die in BFA, but on her own terms and it will be in sacrificing her strange triple undead self to destroy a Void Lord or close some Void portal. Thus, redeeming herself to a certain point, showing her loyalty to the Horde, and satisfying all of the Alliance that will not be satisfied until she's dead. (I hope we get to keep our Banshee Queen just not as Warchief, but I doubt it at this point)
There are a lot of BfA spoilers here. Please marknthe posts cause some ppl dont like the future story to be spoiled!
My evaluation of Sylvanas was based on the horde quests in Silverpine forest where you ride along with her and hear her story and the return of Alleria's locket - she then releases the mourning song of the highborne ("They have broken through . . . "). She was broken by Arthas but regained control of herself. That self control was important then but it seems to have slipped away or been replaced by a darker force. It seems unexplained at present.
Saurfang is leaving the Horde, why shouldn't I?
