Yeah well I don’t see how /assist will help much seeing as how tanks will need to tab target stuff...Which means that someone will have to start marking stuff in packs.. skull, x, square.. etc.. which will slow dungeon runs and bring back the “just go go go go” times..
This was fun and exciting gameplay up to and including most of WotLK. Then came the 'gogogo, hurry up n00b, OMFG tank' instant gratification crowd that turned many a new DK tank away because nobody has time for dealing with that crap. This is a good move for organized Dungeon/Raid groups and guilds. For the LFD/LFR crowd, not so much.
Add fights in LFR will be hilarious.
And once again... tanks must mark which add gonna attack so the dps dont f@ck it up. Thank you (NOT).
Hope they're replacing the skittish affix in m+ then. If not... have fun out there all of you havoc dh, ww monks, and dps warriors lying on the floor because you have no aggro dump and skittish will make tanks do no aggro. Guess we'll be inviting only hunters and rogues for m+ during skittish.
I do wish all of the tanks got an aoe taunt with this change even if it's on a long CD, so that tanks have options for bad pulls.
Wait for 5 sunders.
this seems to be going back to Cataclysm, there were a few problems there like Warrior tanks, then Blizz had to step in & up the threat tanks made, but lets wait & see!
threat was !@#$ing retarded, but this is also, just in a different way. Why, you say ?first of all, it wont matter in the kind of setting where blizzard wants it to matter. in bfa raid fight, everyone currently loses 3-7 sec to have burst cds up and running. even taking into account those that can be spammed before pull, with a misdirect it 's more than enough to make as though skittish doesnt exist. no aggro issue in raid ever in bfa. (and even without a misdirect, havent ever seen skittish being an issue on single target)it will matter though in dungeons. high keys will become nigh impossible, because they all currently rely on big pulls and kite. try kiting in skittish, and have fun. pugs dungeon will become a nightmare : as a tank, do you really want to try and go with dps who in the past 10 years have forgotten how to look at a threat meter and are gonna blame you after ? as a dps, do you want to go with a tank you dont know and who'll forget to taunt trash mid fight because he grew so used to never having to ? that will reinforce current behavior where people ask for 965 ilvl and 3k r.io to do a 15.thats the first reasonthe second reason is that currently, tanks have two choices: either do damage, or be tanky, with a whole spectrum in between of modulation, choosing what to sacrifice, and how much of it to.in bfa that's gone. all active mitigation are now on the damage stats of the tanks, meaning the more damage you do, the less damage you take, and with that change, iot's also, the less you'll get overaggroed.best example of that is bear atm : agility gives damage / dodge / crit / armor / threat, so everything, making bear even more the best physical mitigator in game. how !@#$ing retarded is that ? tanking after wotlk was all about balancing those two points, choosing your gamestyle. now, you only have one optimization, damage through main stat, since it also provides now the one thing it used to take away : mitigation.Threat was an issue. not losing aggro to someone until he does a 50M dps aoe burst is an issue. dps going full ham before the end of a pull timer and not dying is an issue, in the sense that threat is irrelevant, and it shouldnt be. but baselining something as meta impending as skittish is dumb ( threat is something delicate, you cant just go full retard and "cut everything by the same ratio"), andd forcing tank in a single optimization and playstyle is also dumb.does it make any sense, to anyone out there, that going full attack should reward you with less damage taken ? it's the opposite of everything in real life, in heroic fantasy, and in mmorpg, and with good reason. it shouldd only do so in a very specific situation: when you are using a specific thing for it (like rots on bear for instance), and for a very limited time only.this change doesnt fix the threat issue, it only changes the issue with something far worsethe issue was "its a mechanic that's irrelevant", and they replaced it with " all tanks now have one optimization, and we're making pugging worse than it already is, because we cant figure out that threat needs balancings, and not hammering"
I've been playing with a VDH on alpha and beta and doing Normal, Heroic and Mythic dungeons. It's absolutely ok. Yes, you do lose aggro. Yes, get your skull macro ready to show which target you are attacking. and Yes, Taunt is an ability you use often now, not only when taunt swaping in Raiding. You often pull a group and one add will go to a DPS, you taunt him or leap into him, etc. It feels a bit like warrior tanking in the old days that you need to actively attack each mob instead of using all your abilities on one of them and AOE takes care of the rest. There are some mobs specially in Freehold where they backhand you and you drop aggro. They hit like a truck when enraged and sometimes come in two. You taunt one and the rest of the group deals with the other (run away, or a DPS gets a tank CD).I usually jump on the group, and use Fracture on the skull marked mob, another fracture on a 2nd mob, taunt the third and while under taunt, I glaive a 4th. That usually does the trick. Mages frost nova, slow abilities help. And yes, it makes the dungeons more complex to play, which is very nice. This coupled with the more complex mechanics of the bosses in Mythic and Heroic (some bosses are inheriting mechanics of former old raid bosses) will definetively help stablishing Mythic Plus as a fun, interesting and challenge end-game.
Not sure if this is a great idea since warriors have trouble with the reduced amount of threat modifiers that they already have.
Sounds like really bad change. Just like most of the changes Blizzard do lately.
There is no real difference IF the TANK tanks all time. This change attempt to prevent current live m+ tactics - mass stun, 2 sec tank AOE and run to begin of instance while dpsers kill the trash with no threat problems.
so as a bear druid now i have to wait for my thrash to get to three stacks before dps can actually do aoe? i already can't stand skittish in live m+ mostly because it isn't enjoyable to chase a mob that broke off because somebody's cleave crit and sent their threat over the top. i prefer the gameplay to what i have stays on me and my job is to coral them so dps have an easier time and to avoid dangerous shockwaves or cycle defensives to make it easier on the healer. i prefer playing the class to be easy to learn and do but have the difficult and challenging part be what i am fighting because that leads to more variety for encounters.i don't want the game to be playing your class becomes a hurdle or frustrating, yet bosses become simple and dull. if they brought threat back to how it was and then have tank fights similar to aggramar, fallen avatar, helya, or even Portal keeper where it isn't just tank swaps but there is focus on positioning and corralling mobs so that you can get through the fight.
My question is: will fights be redesigned around this? Or are healers and DPS going to get gibbed because of Ion's Never Ending Waves Of Artificially Difficult Adds?Who was asking for this, anyway? This is just like that triage healing crap they pulled in Cata because some dev got a bug in their hat about how people geared in ICC gear never ran out of mana in dungeons tuned around quest greens and blues. Did some warrior tank on the dev team come back from Titan and go "HEY THEY AREN'T WAITING FOR THREE SUNDERS ANYMORE, WE NEED TO FIX THREAT!"Is there anyone at Blizzard who understands what this will do to people who have tank specs and use them to help friends and guildies out but aren't hardcore raiders with a lot of experience at tab targeting and taunting? People won't learn, they'll just stop tanking because this is a pointless and annoying change designed to make devs who are having a gaming midlife crisis feel good about themselves. LFR and normal pugs will be disasters. If this goes live it'll be reverted by 8.1, tops. Because it's dumb.
As long as they don't expect tanks to both hold aggro and use defensives at the same time, it's not that bad. But i doubt Blizz will get it right....
It seems Team 2005 is back in charge. I wonder if we'll be waiting for three Sunders next. Meh.
