Don't forget to check out our guide to phase one of the new daily quests, available right here on Wowhead News!
Patch 4.2: A Complete Guide to Stage One of the New Dailies
Now that many of you have been introduced to the daily quests available from the
Guardians of Hyjal
faction at the new quest hubs implemented with patch 4.2, we've put together a handy guide to the next phase of daily quests, which is unlocked upon obtaining 20
Mark of the World Tree
and completing
Calling for Reinforcements
. This phase brings the counterattack even further into Ragnaros' domain, as the Guardians of Hyjal's forces move into the the
Molten Front
via a new portal spawned in Hyjal, and set up their operations at Malfurion's Reach.
At the Sanctuary of Malorne, Arch Druid Hamuul Runetotem gives you the quest
Leyara
, asking you to find and slay the deadly Druid of the Flame,
Leyara
. Upon heading over to her location in Hyjal and after an unpleasant exchange of words, she fatally wounds the Arch Druid and ensnares you in
Smoldering Roots
. She quickly makes an escape and you are left with the fallen Arch Druid, whose body is recovered and brought to
Matoclaw
.
Upon returning to Malfurion Stormrage with the news of Hamuul's demise, he will give you a new quest,
Through the Gates of Hell
and the portal to the
Molten Front
will become available. Travel through the portal into Malfurion's Reach and assist the Guardians of Hyjal in slaying the massive
Obsidian Slaglord
present. Watch your feet, because the giant uses an ability called
Obsidian Devastation
, which will spawn pools of lava from which giant obsidian spikes will rise (and deal massive damage to anyone foolish enough to stand above). Upon completion of this quest, you will gain access to new daily quests.
You will now be able to complete a total of six new phase 2 daily quests. You can still complete the phase 1 quests, as well, which are available at the Sanctuary of Malorne, so you will still be able to earn the
Mark of the World Tree
from them each day - and you're going to need them! Malfurion asks that you recruit the aid of another faction - either the
Druids of the Talon
or
The Shadow Wardens
, and doing so will require turning in a whopping 0
Mark of the World Tree
per faction!
Each day, you will receive the following
three
quests:
Aggressive Growth
or
Wisp Away
Burn Victims
Hostile Elements
You will also receive
one
of the following quests:
Breach in the Defenses
The Dogs of War
The Harder They Fall
Traitors Return
This will give you a total of four quests to complete in the
Molten Front
each day. You will now also be able to pick up new quests at the Sanctuary of Malorne, back in
Mount Hyjal
. The quest
The Protectors of Hyjal
is now available, asking you to travel to Sethria's Roost with a squad of NPCs to battle six elite mobs. The mobs are challenging but the NPCs are extremely helpful, and you may even see a famous face in the mix!
In addition, a new set of quests can be unlocked once you have passed through the
Molten Front
portal. Upon returning through it to the Sanctuary of Malorne and speaking with
Matoclaw
, she will give you a new quest,
The Fate of Runetotem
. Return to
Dorda'en Nightweaver
and this will unlock a new set of daily quests, one of which will be available each day.
Releasing the Pressure
Relieving the Pain
Treating the Wounds
Molten Front Daily Quests
Aggressive Growth
One of the easiest quests in the new hub, this quest asks you to use the provided
Smothervine Seeds
on sparkling piles of ash found scattered around the Ashen Fields. Simply run up to one of the piles and "use" it and a giant smothervine will spawn and can aid you in battling nearby enemies. This can make the other, standard kill quests even easier!
Burn Victims
Another easy quest, this one has you head out into the fields and locate
Wounded Hyjal Defender
in desperate need of your aid. Simply use the provided
Enchanted Salve
on their fallen bodies and they'll be fully healed, as good as new, and ready to fight! These freshly-revived defenders will help you fight nearby enemies, which can help for other kill quests.
Breach in the Defenses
One of the many kill quests in the Molten Front, this quest requires you to kill 5
Lava Burster
(or
Lava Dweller
) mobs found scattered throughout the Ashen Fields and initial battlefront. These creepy little baby Magmaws are stationary mobs but do sport a particularly nasty frontal attack,
Lava Shower
, that you'll want to be sure to try to avoid whenever you see it casting. This attack will deal
massive
initial fire damage and leave fire on the ground that will explode shortly after and do
even more
massive fire damage. Yeesh. Thankfully, you only need to slay a few and they are stationary, so if things start going really bad you can always run to safety!
Hostile Elements
This quest asks you to slay 8
Charred Soldier
or
Charred Vanquisher
, aggressive fire elementals and revenents which can easily be found charging headfirst towards Malfurion's Reach. You really won't have to travel too far to find enough to kill for the quest, but I've found its best to get your kills while doing one of the non-kill quests (such as
Burn Victims
or
Aggressive Growth
) since the associated NPCs will help you fight and make for much quicker battles.
The Dogs of War
Yet another quest focused on dealing a massive blow to Ragnaros' forces, this one asks you to slay 3
Charhound
(
Ancient Charhound
or otherwise), which can be found deep in the Ashen Fields and Molten Flow areas.
The Harder They Fall
This one's a little more challenging, as you'll be tasked with slaying 3 massive, elite
Molten Behemoth
- and they aren't kidding about the behemoth part, these bad boys sport over 300k health and have some pretty dangerous abilities:
Molten Stomp
, which deals a massive 42412 to 47587 Nature damage to all enemies within 4 yards (hint: outrange it!) and
Fiery Boulder
, a ranged attack in which he'll chuck a massive boulder at you, dealing 13500 to 16500 damage and knocking you back. These guys are typically found in combat with the nearby Guardian NPCs, but the second you do damage to them they're your problem now. Kiting them is a viable strategy, and will even award an achievement (
Flawless Victory
) to the extremely skilled!
Traitors Return
Another relatively easy kill quest, this one challenges you to defeat 3
Druid of the Flame
. They're really not all too difficult and will attack you with simple fire attacks until you've dispatched of them.
Wisp Away
Only
slightly
different than your average kill quest, this quest has you travel with a
Hyjal Wisp
to a fire portal in the Ashen Fields, where you must fight off invading
Firekin
while the Hyjal Wisp closes the portal.
Sanctuary of Malorne Daily Quests
The Protectors of Hyjal
This quest becomes available once you have completed
Through the Gates of Hell
(along with the
Molten Front
quests) and tasks you with leading a squad of NPCs against fighting elite mobs found at Sethria's Roost, just south of the Sanctuary of Malorne in
Mount Hyjal
. The elite mobs are pretty challenging, but your squad of druids (they really can do everything!) includes NPCs performing helpful roles (such as a bear druid to tank the mobs for you) and on some days you'll even be accompanied by a famous NPC (such as
Johnny Awesome
or
Nat Pagle
)! This quest is awesome for the sole reason of finding out who'll join your squad each day!
Releasing the Pressure
Arch Druid Hamuul Runetotem has barely survived Leyara's attack, and it is up to you to aid Dorda'en Nightweaver and the Guardians of Hyjal in their efforts to nurse the mighty druid back to health. For this quest, you must return with 100
Flamewaker Scale
which drop from (you guessed it)
Charred Flamewaker
found in the Regrowth. Thankfully, the mobs drop a large amount of scales per kill so you should have the required amount in no time! This quest should definitely be completed with whichever
Rage Against the Flame
phase 1 daily you have, since the
Charred Flamewaker
will count towards completion.
Relieving the Pain
This is another quest that is best completed while on another of the dailies. For this quest, you must retrieve 4
Flame-Wreathed Heart
from the
Seething Pyrelord
at Sethria's Roost. These mobs are powerful elites and it's recommended that you first grab the
The Protectors of Hyjal
quest as the NPCs that accompany you will be extremely valuable in aiding to kill the mobs required (as well as the mobs being objectives for both quests).
Treating the Wounds
This quest is basically the same as
Relieving the Pain
, only instead of having to kill the
Seething Pyrelord
for
Flame-Wreathed Heart
, you are instead killing the
other
elite mobs at Sethria's Roost,
Fiery Behemoth
, for their
Sulfur-Laced Wrapping
. Once again, be sure to first pick up
The Protectors of Hyjal
so that you can have the NPC posse help you kill the elites!
