A long time ago I played RuneScape (I know, I know...) and would probably still be if I hadn't been hacked. This was back in the spring of 2006. A classmate of mine had started playing WoW a few months earlier and it sounded pretty interesting so I figured I'd give it a try.I didn't know anything about the game so obviously I just made a character that looked 'cool'. It ended up being a human paladin, and the next day a nelf hunter. The classmate had an undead lock on another server so I didn't play with him. He has since quit and restarted and quit again I don't know how many times. Same goes for a couple more classmates we got interested. I always get quite involved whenever I start doing something, so I'm still playing and haven't even had any long breaks.I probably wouldn't change anything WoW-related I've done in the past. The only thing I'd like to do is join a successful daytime/early-evening raid guild but I've never heard of any. =/ But that's another topic...
My RL brother got me into WoW when i went to visit my family for an overseas holiday. At the time he was a lvl60 something warlock and was taking his sweet time leveling, mainly due to the fact he could only play at a net cafe and limited on days and time.Anyways at first i told him WoW was ^&*! and no way would i be paying monthly to play a game.Since then my first toon was a warlock but only got him to lvl 65 before i dropped him and leveled a paladin, managing to get 80 a few days after my brothers warlock.... LOLI now give him advice on how to play the game and what gear he needs even thought he started playing atleast 6 months before me... God knows what he spent his time doing.....
I started 3 months before BC came out, I made a hunter because I played warhammer 40k at the time and really liked the characters with "Pets" (For those of you who play / has played, I'm talking about an Orc Warboss with an attack squig :D) The person who got me into it was my friend from school, one afternoon we went to my house and then he showed me the Ragnaros fight and after that there was no turning back.
I watched the South park WoW episode - Make love, not Warcraft (Not the achievement XD) at my Uncle's house. Then I was determined to play it! Eventually, I managed to find it.
Me and a friend saw WoW and TBC in the store for £10 each and though why not lol. We had been playing guild wars previously.
I loved Warcraft III donated by Blizzard to Make a Wish Foundation. They gave it to me, and I simply loved it. My cousin was playing WoW since release and when I went to visit him, I asked to see it. He showed me this white snowscaped land. He said the objective was to run from anything that had a red name and he let me play it. Alterac Valley afking. >_>. That was my start on WoW. My other cousin came home and let me create a character on the same account, I made a night elf hunter. As they said that is the best to play. I got to like level 16 within the week I was there. My computer at home wasn't good enough to play WoW. As my mom goes OMG COMPUTERS ARE EVIL! And she was fine with me failing high school because I couldn't type my essays as demanded by my teachers. I passed, luckily. >_<. On my 17th birthday my mom caved in and bought me a computer. So I bought WoW, and my cousin referred me for his free month haha. Been playing since then. I'm twenty now. :). Been through WoW and hard times. Such as my open heart surgery. Knowing that I am supposed to die soon. WoW is just an escape for me. It is an amazing escape.
Prior to release, I was doing an IT course and in a lot of our downtime we played a lot of LAN games, such as Warcraft 3, Starcraft and such. As soon as I heard about WoW, I was interested. I managed to get in to the open beta an was hooked on my Shammy straight away. When the game came out, I had no RL friends playing, so I tended to jump servers a bit trying to find a large collection of Aussies. It took far too long for the Oceanic servers to come about. :(
I did. I had been following Warcraft since Tides of Darkness, and then years later when I found out Blizzard was making an MMO, I hungered for it until it launched. Played since release on and off, good fun. First character was an Orc Warlock, since Gul'dan was such a bad ass I always wanted to be like him. Eventually I came to like shamans gameplay-wise and have played two Orc shamans, a Tauren shaman, and a Draenei Shaman.
Well, I have a group of friends I used to play Dungeons & Dragons with. We still play, but not so often as people move around. I remember we would all arrive to a game and there would be an hour or more of them talking about WoW, as they were all playing it. I was the only one who hadn't yet been sucked in. Needless to say I had no idea what they were talking about. Eventually I gave in and got myself a trial account. I didn't realise I was hooked until I was sneaking up on the quillboars outside the crossroads, carefully waiting for a patrol to get in range for a pull...when I got logged out. My trial was up and it was 2am. I was at the local gaming store at 9am buying a prepaid gamecard >.>My friends had explained to me beforehand about the different servers and factions, so I rolled Thunderhorn EU, horde side, and got in their guild (which is all RL friends). I rolled an orc warrior because orcs are da best! and gaming over the years has taught me that the warrior class is almost always basically the same across any game you play. So yeah...orc smash!A little over 2 years later and my orc warrior is still my main, is the best geared of all my toons (although it's pretty neck-and-neck between him and my shammy sometimes), and is still an absolute joy to play. I've also got a lvl 80 hunter and druid, and another warrior currently making her merry way through OL (I love the warrior so much I need 2 toons to fully appreciate it :P).
Technically I got me into wow...but it was because a mate introduced me to warcraft back when warcraft 2 came out. Took lots of convincing back then to get the parents to go to windows 95 so I could use the map editor. My First character was a orc warrior.
