Story of the Fourth War (Battle for Azeroth) with Nobbel87

We're back again with another lore spotlight with Nobbel87! With the recent news that
Shadows Rising
is the prequel novel to
Shadowlands
, picking up the story of key Alliance and Horde characters, we wanted to recap the story of the Fourth War to get everyone up to speed with the plot.
As always, we'll supplement Nobbel's script with quoted sections linking to our database pages and guides so you can experience the content in-game for yourself.
Introduction
Hello everyone! The Fourth War has come to an end, a cutscene shown after getting rid of the Old God N'Zoth, but what exactly is considered the Fourth War? How did it start, what major things happened in between and what might the future be for the factions? That’s what we’re going to talk about today.
For those curious, the First War is considered to be the time that the Horde invaded Azeroth for the first time, Stormwind fell and the Alliance of Lordaeron was formed. The Second War is the continuation of that war as the Alliance fought back. Then the Third War is a bit later, the war against Archimonde and the Burning Legion--the events of
Warcraft 3
.
And now the Fourth War or "the blood war," a name wisely chosen as the blood of Azeroth played a big factor in all of this. The mad titan Sargeras plunged a massive sword deep into the heart of the nascent titan within the world. Gravely wounded, Azeroth’s life essence bled to the surface and formed an extraordinary material called Azerite. As both Alliance and Horde leaders soon recognized, Azerite’s unique properties could be used for great good...or terrible evil. King Anduin Wrynn sensed its potential to heal and protect, but Warchief Sylvanas Windrunner saw a potent weapon unlike any the world had known before. Presented to her by Gallywix, the first to get his hands on Azerite even before Sargeras stabbed the world.
The Legion epilogue, adding the seeds of unrest for Battle for Azeroth, took place in Patch 7.3.5. This content patch contained
4 new backpack slots
, updates to the
updated Wound in the World
, a leveling revamp which includes
zones that scale to your level
, an additional
method of earning a Legendary item
, and the
Dalaran Mailroom
quest chain.
Later in the patch, players accessed
Ulduar Timewalking
during Wrath Timewalking week and ultimately retired the iconic
Artifact Weapons
.
Before the Storm
It was January 19th 2018 when I uploaded a video called
Horde is the Aggressor...Or Are They?
in which I discussed why I thought the Horde was once again being the aggressor rather than taking this opportunity and have the Alliance start the war for a change. Give it a different start than what we saw during Mists of Pandaria and the bombing of Theramore. Opinions were divided and although the like to dislike bar definitely took a hit, I did very much enjoy the discussions that followed and players' viewpoints on who was being aggressive. Did the Alliance have any right to stop the Horde from claiming Azerite and what about the history between the factions? Who was truly responsible for the Fourth War?
While a lot of fun was had with discussing it, the novel
Before the Storm
removed any real doubt. In it we read about an attack on the Explorers League to kidnap Sapphronetta Flivvers and have her produce weapons for the Horde. She would actually fall back in love with the goblin Grizzek Flizzwrench and escape the Horde to join the Alliance.
But the most important defining moment for the start of the Fourth War comes after the reunion between Forsaken and Humans. To get a small seed of peace going between the factions, Anduin and Sylvanas agree to have friends and loved ones amongst the Forsaken and Alliance reunite. The meeting went so well that some amongst the Forsaken did not want to go home. They asked Calia Menethil to stand with them and lead them away, which she did, an act that the Warchief could not exactly appreciate. Any who tried to run away or even run back to the Forsaken were shot down, Calia receiving an arrow from the Banshee Queen herself. Anduin and Sylvanas come face to face. Whereas she ruled with an iron first, he ruled with compassion. Neither of them was ready for a war. Anduin said a silent prayer that Sylvanas would not start one and she didn’t. There would no war between the Alliance and the Horde...today.
So regardless of past motivations that we can bring up like the Horde abandoning the Alliance on the Broken Shore, Greymane and the Alliance attacking Sylvanas in Stormheim, the Purge of Dalaran, the bombing of Theramore, Camp Taraujo, the Fall of Gilneas, interment camps, opening of the Dark Portal...regardless of how far we want to go to figure out motivationS behind the characters for wanting this war, the book itself makes it very clear that the war did not start until after the meeting in the ArathI Highlands. Meaning that the war started with the invasion of Darkshore also known as the War of the Thorns.
One of our past collaborations with Nobbel87 was
The Story of
Before the Storm
. In this article, we analyze important sections of the novel and highlight their in-game references as usual.
One notable Easter egg is that important Forsaken characters killed in
Before the Storm
have a
graveyard
in Battle for Azeroth, as well as tombstones and little details like a wedding ring on Elsie's tomb.
War of the Thorns
The reason back then, face value, seemed to be a way for Sylvans to take care of the threat of the Alliance. Get rid of your enemy and the hell that’s waiting for her will be waiting that much longer. As she explained to Saurfang, they might be able to get peace going with Anduin leading the Alliance, but exactly how long would that peace last. The history between the Alliance and the Horde has shown one thing, they’re really good at crafting Warcraft. With Azerite on the table, empowering their weapons and armor, what better time then the present to get rid of their enemy, instead of hoping for a peace that will most likely not last.
With the Shadowlands announcement, we know that it’s no longer about prolonging her inevitable afterlife. Eternal torment which she discovered after throwing herself from the top of Icecrown. Now we also know that she’s in league with the Jailer. By sending souls his way, anima, she gains more power. She has her own little covenant and while the details of their partnership and ultimate motivations will be explained later, one thing is for certain, sending souls to the afterlife greatly empowers her. So whether or not she would win the war with the Alliance, she could not lose her ultimate goal, loss of life was guaranteed.
With Saurfang convinced, she knew that the rest of the Horde leaders would fall in line. The plan is to make the Alliance believe that they’d focus on the Azerite in Silithus, while actually setting their eyes on the home of the Night Elves. Take care of their leaders and inflict a mighty blow. Capture the world tree to splinter the unity amongst the Alliance. Holding its citizens hostage would prevent them from retaliating. It would even take them years to muster a fleet to do so. Anduin in his new role of high king having to deal with a political crisis, since the respect the others give him is a courtesy not an obligation. The strength of the Alliance lies in its name, its unity and as each nation would act in its own interest, draw their armies home to protect their lands from the Horde, this one single victory would cripple it for years.
Pretty solid plan and while the Night Elves did try to fight back, the Horde’s aggression was unexpected and too much to handle. This was a battle they knew they couldn’t win. While their forces are trying to hold off the Horde, their people are evacuating to Stormwind through portals and when time runs out, they make ready for occupation.
Meanwhile Sylvanas hunts down her target, Malfurion Stormrage and ends up in a one-on-one duel, interrupted by Varok Saurfang who comes to his Warchief's aid. She decides, for some reason, to let Saurfang take the kill, but the old soldier does not. The blow was dishonorable in his eyes so Malfurion is saved by his beloved Tyrande while Saurfang returns empty-handed to his Warchief. Despite the tree and its citizens being so critical for the rest of their plans, the Warchief decides to burn the tree and inflict the wound that the death of one of their leaders was supposed to cause in a different way. Burn all the elves and send their souls flying to the Maw. The battle the elves could not win ends in a roaring fire, the genocide of their people. Mia Greymane, helping evacuate Teldrassil, is saved by her husband Genn, bringing her safely back to Stormwind. In her arms is the last child of the Kaldorei to be saved from Teldrassil, whom they name Finel, meaning "the last." The priestesses who remained behind held their people close, asking Elune for one final blessing, not for healing or for rescue, but for mercy. There will be justice one day, but eyes other than theirs will behold it. Elune answered their call and let them slip into slumber before the fires consumed them...
In the
Story of the Burning of Teldrassil
we cover the fateful events leading up to the pre-patch as well as important details from the two novellas, like Sylvanas' early hints at her darker plan, and Saurfang's internal conflict.
Experiencing the Burning of Teldrassil in-game is no longer possible, as it was only available during a few short weeks in the pre-patch. However, you can catch up on the quest line with our
Burning of Teldrassil Walkthrough
. Completion of this sad questline awarded
Redini Fumanti dell'Ippogrifo di Teldrassil
for the Alliance and
Redini Sgualcite del Pipistrello Infetto di Sepulcra
for the Horde.
Much of the story took place outside of the event, in two novellas
Elegy
and
A Good War
. Most notably, Tyrande played a central role in the novellas, with her absence from Teldrassil explained in great detail, which we spotlighted in
The Role of Tyrande Whisperwind in War of the Thorns
.
Siege of Lordaeron
That is where it all began and with no hostages, the Alliance was free to retaliate with the Siege of Lordaeron. The Warchief shows that she does not care about honor in battle, using tactics like dropping blight on their own troops, resurrecting the fallen in undeath, blowing up the entirety of Lordaeron...anything it takes to take out her hated enemy. The Alliance would have lost the siege several times over if not for some surprise aid. While Magni wants us to gather Azerite to heal the world, we also use it to empower ourselves as well as weaponry. A massive tank is rolled out weaponizing Azerite all over the place, but luckily some aid shows up for the Alliance. Jaina Proudmoore returning in a flying ship, her magic saving the day and blasting a hole through Lordaeron's walls. Then Alleria and the Void Elves, a new Allied Race, show up just in time to teleport in more troops.
Saurfang was about ready to seek his death in combat after witnessing the horrors of Teldrassil burning, but Zekhan was able to convince him to stay with them, long enough to see that his Warchief did not see the Horde in the same way as he did. He could not follow her lead so decided to try and find death in battle. Not his choice to make though. Instead Anduin imprisons the High Overlord and after Lordaeron being blown up, neither side can claim true victory.
The Battle for Lordaeron was first added in the Battle for Azeroth pre-patch. In our
quest walkthrough
you can see all the battle developments and cinematic/cutscene interludes including Jaina's dramatic entrance and Anduin's capture of Saurfang.
The battle notably ended with
Sylvanas blowing up Lordaeron's keep
, hoping to trap the Alliance leadership inside--they were only saved by Jaina's quick thinking and teleport. The cinematic included some heavy parallels to Arthas, with nearly-identical shots to Arthas entering the Lordaeron Throne Room in Warcraft III. At this point in the story, Sylvanas had been fairly inactive for several expansions, minus a mysterious appearance in Stormheim, so her return to the spotlight with controversial behavior shocked many. We outlined her similarities to Arthas several times, including
Parallels to Arthas in the BFA Pre-Patch
and then
Sylvanas' Plan - The End of Hope and Rise of the Lich Queen
after the conclusion of the War Campaign.
Patch 8.0 - War Campaign
The war continued on with both sides gathering more Azerite, land, and forces to call their own. The Alliance reconnects with Kul Tiras, bringing their old ally back into the fold. The Horde meets up with the Zandalari trolls and adds their numbers to the ranks. I mentioned the Void Elves as a newly-added playable race to the Alliance. On top of that we also saw the Lightforged Draenei, Dark Iron Dwarves and Mechagnomes. The Horde got the Nightborne, Highmountain Tauren, Mag’har Orcs and the Vulpera.
Besides sorting out the troubles in Zandalar and Kul Tiras, a big part of the Fourth War played out in the war campaign, I know very surprising with such a name, yet the Horde didn’t go in with a solid plan. They kinda stumbled upon the next thing to do. What started with establishing a better foothold lead to grabbing the corpse of Captain Stone and once you got one of them, why not get more and gather some information from them on the Kul Tiran fleet. To track down the hero, we recruit and raise the tidesage Zelling to have him help locate the body.
While under water we accidentally stumble upon the body of Derek Proudmoore, brother to Jaina who died defending the world against the first Horde invasion. He will be used later while info from Zelling takes us on the road of collecting a powerful artifact. With the scepter of tides the Kul Tiran fleet would crumble before us so we go out and pick it up. During this the Alliance deals with the reliquary in Vol'dun and finds out that the Horde has allied itself with the San’layn, a vampiric race created by the Lich King, which might come as a surprise to Horde members as I don’t recall this information actually shown on the Horde side. Either way, the San’layn are taken care of and bombs are planted in Zandalar since the last time the Alliance fleet came close to the city...it didn’t end too well.
We have detailed guides to both the
Alliance War Campaign

Patch 8.1 - Dazar'alor and Darkshore
While the Alliance focuses their attention on Zandalar and the warfront in Arathi, fighting for dominance over Stromgarde, Tyrande and the Night Elves want vengeance. The Horde has been defiling their lands for far too long. It is time to take action, even if Anduin feels like they’re spread too thin. If the Alliance won’t stand with them, then they shall do it alone...well...perhaps with a bit of aid from their goddess Elune. Tyrande is done with praying and asking, she demands her goddess to stand with them. Invoking a dangerous, ancient ritual, she becomes the night warrior. Elune’s wrath personified.
The Horde is quickly overwhelmed. They do manage to resurrect more of the fallen, even add some Dark Rangers to their ranks at the cost of one of Sylvanas’ Val’kyr and pushing Nathanos into retreat. Like in Stromgarde, the Battle for Darkshore plays out in a warfront which gameplay-wise means that the battle constantly rotates. One week the Horde is on the defense, the next it’s the Alliance, but lore-wise it has been confirmed that both the Battle at Stromgarde and at Darkshore have been won by the Alliance.
They also figured out that the Horde stole the Abyssal Scepter so to make entry into Zandalar save for the fleet, they infiltrate their vaults and steal it back... pretty much cancelling out what the Horde did earlier. Ah well, at least they still have the body of Derek but this does mean that the road is open for the Alliance to conduct their battle of Dazar'alor and murder everyone inside the city...I mean...nicely ask their king to surrender...and remove a powerful ally of the Horde. Of course King Rastakhan is no pushover and refuses to surrender. His death infuriates the Zandalari, princess Talanji most of all. During their retreat, Gelbin Meckatorque holds the line to buy us time, but is seriously injured by Gallywix and the Horde forces.
He has to make use of his escape pod but none of the healers can do anything for him. The technology is beyond us until we reach Mechagon and the Mechagnomes who are able to save his life and make him king.
The Darkshore Warfront featured a major revamp to the zone including
many rare spawns and rewards
such as
Fiera della Notte dei Kaldorei Catturata
. The armor and weapon rewards from the Warfront were also themed after
Night Elf and Forsaken culture
. However, the most notable reward by far was the
Night Warrior Customization Unlock
, available to players that completed
All'ombra di Teldrassil
. This appearance granted Night Elves pale skin and black eyes to match Tyrande's newest appearance.
The
Battle of Dazar'alor
was BFA's second raid, featuring nine bosses including a faction-swapping mechanic where characters were transformed into the opposite faction for key story encounters like Jaina and Rastakhan. While the loot may now be obsolete, there are notable items to farm like
Tempesta Mareale Glaciale
and
M.IM.MO.G.
, as well as
transmog weapons
themed after each boss. Learn about the lore in the

Patch 8.1.5 - Baine and Derek Proudmoore
And while Baine suggests that perhaps they should re-open communication and try to go for some peace with the Alliance, the others don’t want to hear it. Their Warchief has already got a new plan in mind and all it’s going to take is a bit of torture, mind control, and resurrection to turn Derek Proudmoore against his family. A step too far for Baine. Like Saurfang before him, he cannot believe what Sylvanas is doing to their Horde but he can’t just step away for the sake of his people. Instead he decides to get Zelling in on his plan and go behind his Warchief's back. Rescue Derek and return him to his sister.
But Jaina was wrong. It was not Baine that paid the ultimate price, rather it was Zelling in a grand display for all to see what the Warchief does with betrayers. Baine is imprisoned, bait for her upcoming trap.
Patch 8.1.5 includeed an updated War Campaign for both
Alliance
and
Horde
,
Zandalari Troll
and
Kul Tiran Human
Allied Races, many new story quests, Tools of the Trade Profession Items, the
Brawler's Guild
, new
World Quests
, upgrade
heirlooms
and more. Several weeks after launch, the
Crucible of Storms Raid
opened, pivoting the focus away from the factions and back to N'Zoth.
In the
Horde 8.1.5 War Campaign
we again encounter quest choice as players must decide to secretly help Baine or leak his rescue plans to Nathanos. As Baine is
ultimately arrested
by Sylvanas, canonically his plans did reach the Dark Lady.

Patch 8.2 - Rise of Azshara
In the meantime Horde forces stumble upon a bit of ancient darkness in the form of N'Zoth and Xal'atath, blade of the black empire. The being inside the blade is released while heroes of the factions are blessed with being N'Zoth’s chosen. He thinks we’re special, run along now, bring this blade to your Warchief. Upon touching it her eyes darken and she stumbles into another plan.
N'Zoth wants heroes of the world to come down to his prison so they can be used to set him free. Sylvanas wants her enemies to die. While Azshara, queen of the naga, wants Xal'atath to take out N'Zoth and free herself from his service. With the blade in hand, Nathanos leads us all to our doom. The waters open up and the splender of Nazjatar is revealed.
And while Azshara and Sylvanas did their best to kill us, ultimately it was N'Zoth’s plan that worked out. The Old God is released while Sylvanas’ enemies still live and breath. Even worse, more amongst the Horde are starting to realize that their Warchief is putting them on a dark path, does not have their best interest in mind and considering how well their allegiance with the Alliance worked against Azshara, plans are made to do the same against Sylvanas.
Patch 8.2 included two new zones,
Nazjatar
and
Mechagon
. Each zone comes with a large zone to explore and two new reputations per faction to acquire reputation for (
Rustbolt Resistance
and
The Unshackled
/
Waveblade Ankoan
). Exploring the continent and acquiring Revered with each of your faction's new reputations will earn you
Ricognizione di Battle for Azeroth, Parte Due
,
allowing you to fly in all of Battle for Azeroth's zones
Several weeks after Patch 8.2 launched, the
Eternal Palace Raid
opened, featuring eight bosses culminating in the
Queen Azshara Encounter
.

While the deal between Azshara and Sylvanas was brokered during Patch 8.2, players only learned the full extent of it at the very end of Battle for Azeroth, during the N'Zoth encounter. Azshara's motives remain unclear, but her story arc for now concludes in the
Wrathion cinematic
where he uses the Blade of the Black Empire, procured after the Dark Inquisitor Xanesh Encounter, to rip the Carapace. If you're curious where Azshara's story could go next, we speculated in
Azshara's Role in the Dark Inquisitor Encounter
.
Saurfang's Character Arc
Meanwhile Anduin had a little one-on-one conversation with Saurfang about the future of the factions. The old orc could have killed him on the field of battle during the Siege of Lordaeron, but he didn’t. He had hoped that Anduin and the Alliance could save his Horde from Sylvanas but they can’t do it alone. There’s no safe haven to be found, not for anyone while Sylvanas is in charge, so Saurfang must do more than just give up. His journey takes him to Outland where former Warchief Thrall is hanging out. Unsure what happened to his family, they’re not exactly mentioned but we do see 2 assassins trying to take out these super-powerful orcs. Were they really banking on that element of surprise or was this actually Sylvanas trying to lure Thrall into her trap? Take care of an enemy that’s perfectly fine with hiding out a completely different world. His soul would provide a lot of anima for the Jailer I suppose.
Either way, the attack convinces Thrall that he does not get to hide. The Horde is in need of his aid once again. Together with the surprise aid of the Alliance, they rescue Baine and make ready for the second Siege of Orgrimmar. Even the Warchief has them shore up their defenses. Gallywix burning as many incriminating evidence as he can. Both sides are ready to relive Mists of Pandaria, but that’s not how the siege would end.
Saurfang found his honorable death saving the faction he loved and while Sylvanas might have lost the Fourth War, it’s clear to see that her actual plans. Sending souls to the Jailer and gaining more power have worked out rather nicely. Enough so to one shot Saurfang, no longer need the Horde and even take out Bolvar and rip the veil between this world and the next.
Horde players received a special
quest series
in Patch 8.1, picking up where
Safe Haven
and Saurfang's escape left off. Here, we investigate Saurfang under Sylvanas' orders, and notably--there is an element of player choice, something hardly seen before in WoW, to help Sylvanas or Zekhan. This simple choice would have a large impact in Patch 8.2.5, as
Sylvanas loyalists
received a different cinematic finale than the
Saurfang supporters
, containing critical plot details like the bargain with Azshara.

Aftermath of the Fourth War
That’s a story for the next expansion, this one leaves us with the Alliance and Horde being on better terms, facing the darkness of a released Old God. His defeat marks the ending of Battle for Azeroth showing us where the factions stand right now...starting with the Horde.
No longer a Warchief, but a council. Hard to say who is exactly invited to be on the council but it kinda looks like all of them are just invited to speak their mind and help rule the Horde. Rokhan seems to have officially taken over leadership from Vol’jin of the Darkspear Trolls. Gallywix has been replaced by Gazlowe while Lilian represents the Forsaken. Perhaps she will remain in that position or perhaps she has someone else in mind...
For now it seems like Calia is taken those that have been turned recently, like the Dark Rangers. Personally I think Calia needs a lot more story development before stepping into the shoes of a massive character like Sylvanas. It will never be the same, but as it stands right now...those that don’t read the books or didn’t play a priest during Legion, they see Calia show up here for the first time. Having her go from that to instantly take over the Forsaken would be a bit weird, but she does bring solutions as well.
Sylvanas abandoning the Horde and the Forsaken means that they don’t have Val'kyr anymore, which means that they can’t add any new Forsaken to their ranks. Their people would die out which might be what some of them want. The question as to what they’re still unliving for was raised in
Before the Storm
so perhaps Calia can give them a new reason as well as a new way of coming back to life as her death clearly was permanent. After being shot down by the Dark Lady, Anduin brought her to the Netherlight Temple where together with Alonsus Faol and the Naaru she was brought back as this holy undead. Derek could even fulfill the role of Nathanos, but time will tell how they want to play out that storyline... let's check in with the Alliance.
Some characters might believe that things have changed between the factions, but people like Tyrande and Genn Greymane are not down with forgetting what has happened. The Horde was there when Teldrassil burned and the Night Elves lost their home and their people. The Horde was there when Gilneas was blighted and they lost their people. The blame is placed upon Sylvanas and they will not rest until her head’s been collected. There is potential for the Alliance to be the aggressor in case they ever want to flare up the faction war again, which we all know is going to happen at some point...and in the case of Tyrande, we have it confirmed that she has a story to play in the next expansion.
Patch 8.3 added a special
Darkshore Warfront Finale
for Tyrande, conclusively demonstrating that she won back Darkshore for the Night Elves in
Nuova speranza
. We learned at BlizzCon that her
story will continue in Shadowlands
, as she investigates Elune's weakened state further in
Ardenweald
, a dark mirror of Azeroth's Emerald Dream.
Calia Menethil has received a new model during Battle for Azeroth, and we finally interact with her after the War Campaign finale in 8.2.5. Players both experience
Derek and Calia leaving Jaina
(
Col vento in poppa
) as well as Calia meeting the Forsaken in
Il bisogno nascosto
. Learn more about Calia in the

Following the end of the War Campaign, many characters in major cities received new dialogue options reflecting the post-war story, which we've highlighted in
Orgirmmar Dialogue
,
Sylvanas Loyalist Whispers
,
Thrall and Geyarah
,
Alliance in Stormwind and Boralus
, and
Zekhan Reflecting on Saurfang

There are still many unfinished stores in Battle for Azeroth--not only the fate of the new Horde leadership and growing Alliance unrest, but also individual character arcs like Talanji reacting to the Alliance/Horde peace after the Alliance murdered her father, or Alleria's connection to the Void now that N'Zoth has been defeated. These stories will still be further developed, as the Shadowlands prequel novel
Shadows Rising
was just announced. In this novel, Alleria and Turalyon will hunt down Sylvanas as ordered by Anduin, while for the Horde, Talanji survives an assassination attempt and works with Zekhan to protect Bwonsamdi from Sylvanas' newest plan.
New Novel - Exploring Azeroth
So that’s how the Fourth War plays out and where the factions stand at the moment. One juicy lore bit to end this video with, as we step outside we hear about what some of our heroes are planning to do in the future. After war one must celebrate life and the finer things that comes with it. A lesson Thalyssra is more then ready to teach Lor’themar...
Lor'themar: Thank you again for leading our forces in Nazjatar alongside me, Thalyssra. Your insight and courage were key to our victory.
First Arcanist: It was an honor, Lor'themar. I am relieved the war is finally over. Now you have no excuse to refuse my invitation to visit Suramar.
Lor'themar: Well, uh... I have been away from Silvermoon for some time. No doubt my people require--
First Arcanist: Halduron has assured me that Quel'Thalas is quite secure. And Rommath said that if you put up a fuss, he will teleport you to the Nighthold himself.
Lor'themar: It seems my closest allies are conspiring against me!
First Arcanist: Would it really take a conspiracy for you to spend time alone with me?
Lor'themar: No, my lady. It would be my pleasure.
First Arcanist: A suitably chivalrous answer, Regent Lord. There may be hope for you yet! Perhaps I can even teach you to relish the... simpler joys of life.
Lor'themar: Perhaps you can, First Arcanist. Perhaps you can.
First Arcanist: I will accept, if you will stand by my side, as counselor... and friend.
I do recall how Lor’themar and Liadrin were once hinted at becoming a thing, but now it seems like Thalyssra is ready to share some ...arcwine...together.
Then on the Alliance side when I originally read the datamined dialogue I thought that the shipping was going be between Valeera and Shaw...but now hearing their lines...well....
Valeera Sanguinar: The bitter war is over, yet it seems few among us are in the mood for celebration. Our young king least of all.
Master Mathias Shaw: A great weight rests upon King Anduin's shoulders. I fear his burden won't get lighter anytime soon.
Valeera Sanguinar: And what of you, Shaw? What is there for Stormwind's spymaster to do in a time of peace?
Master Mathias Shaw: You know as well as I that a true spy never rests. There is always a new conspiracy to uncover. That said, I may find a bit of time for myself.
Valeera Sanguinar: Just yourself?
Master Mathias Shaw: There is someone I would like to... get to know better. But such things are best taken slowly. Carefully.
Valeera Sanguinar: Spoken like a true spy. Just remember, happiness is a fleeting thing. Find it while you can, Shaw.
Master Mathias Shaw: Perhaps I will, Valeera. Perhaps I will.
And that someone is most likely going to be Flynn Fairwind as he and Shaw has some spectacular adventures together during Battle for Azeroth.
On top of that, an upcoming book with the current title:
World of Warcraft: Exploring Azeroth: The Eastern Kingdoms
features these two as well.
For over a quarter of a century, players of Warcraft and World of Warcraft have been treated to a treasure trove of artifacts, gear, weaponry, and trinkets of both awe and amusement. Now players can get an in-depth look at the items they have collected...and some they might not have just yet. With exquisite art and a framing story involving the no-nonsense Matthias Shaw and high-spirited Captain Flynn Fairwind, this book covers the continent of the Eastern Kingdom, from Stormwind to Stranglethorn, plaguelands to palaces, and all the lands in between.
Can’t wait to get my hands on that book but we’ll have to wrap it up for today so as always, thank you very much for watching everyone! Subscribe if you like my videos, leave a like if you enjoyed this one aaaand until next time....see ya!
You can preorder
World of Warcraft: Exploring Azeroth: The Eastern Kingdoms
at
Amazon for $25
; the title is set to release on October 20, 2020. This concept art book could be the first in a series spotlighting artwork from different continents and planets.
Flynn and Shaw have their most notable interaction in the
Assalto alla Tesoreria
quest as part of the
Alliance War Campaign
, as they work together to reclaim the Abyssal Scepter from the Zandalari treasury, which enraged Opulence. The quest is filled with
funny chatter
during the serious mission like "Who the blazes designs this stuff, anyway? Don't get me wrong, they're getting points for style, but isn't this a bit complicated? Imagine having to navigate flaming doom every time you wanted to grab some anchor weed from your deposit box."
